I would like everyone who is considering to send their kids to the Berkeley Lacrosse Club to please read this first. This club is literally one of the worst lacrosse programs ever. I sent my kid to play there. and he was placed on the U13B team. The coaches were outstanding for this team. Coach Mike really did a great job of teaching all the kids the game of lacrosse and peaked my sons interest in the game.
However, that is not why this club gets a one star review. Its because of "The Board," or the people who run the program. Charlie, who is currently the program president, is very slow and did not get anything done all season. Also, for the first time ever, BLC made an A team at the U13 level. (prior to this decision, they only had a B team) The A team only won a game or two, and the B team lost every single game. Then, the board would try to put all the blame on to Coach Mike, who did everything he could to make the team win. Charlie is currently stepping down, and another man by the name of Erich (coached the U11 team) is now running for club president. Erich is extremely full of himself, and is always trying to put more money into his pocket. Coach Mike was also the assisntant coach for the U11 team, but was "fired" for no reason. The very next day, he goes over and requests more money from the board.
The financial leader of the program, Adina, (Who was forced to step down,) screwed all of the finances and directed all the attention on her, not the kids or the game of lacrosse.
As someone who was highy associated with the board and the program, i can honestly say this is not the place to send your kid to learn the game of lacrosse. The level of play is low, and the board is much to disorganized and is run by extremely selfish people. My recommondations, if you want your kid to have fun and play a good season of lacrosse from a good program with outstadning coaches and outstanding people, have them play at Skyline Lacrosse club or any other local club. But do not send your kid to this program. You will regret it. read more
