No offense but watching movie in its initial language is much much more better than watching it when dubbed to another language. The cinema is quite small, with only 3 theater. 1 being the biggest theater and the other two is quite small, fit for movies that are regular. The entrance is small, with 3 cashier to sell the tickets and snacks & beverages. Although the appearance of the bar is very unconvincing, the snacks tastes good and they are sold for a very affordable price. Ticket price is cheaper compared to other cinemas around town. On thursday especially, they have 4€ entrance for students. Cheap, but you will be crushed and squeezed by people when the movies previewed are long waited by public! Lol And one last thing that i dislike about the theater, it is very unorganized with the seating. There are no seat numbers so you have to race to get the best view seating- which relates to my statement above. :( Despite my dislike being pushed, shoved, and squeezed in the crowd, this is my only choice to watch international film with its original language that fits my budget plans. I really do hope they renew their policy and arrangements to make a better experience for us, customers.

Metropolis is almost the only theater where they play movies in their original version in Köln…read more Totally old fashion looking, with 2 rooms on the smaller size, Metropolis is very charismatic. But no worries, the technique is totally ok, good picture and sound quality! The best part I find is that on top of the typical sodas, ice cream, popcorn offering they also serve beer that can be taken inside. A nice Kölsch and a good movie, what else? They also of course play German movies and quite a few children movies. The location is perfect lots of restaurants cafe etc. for a bite to eat or a drink before or after and a subway stop right next door. By far my favorite movie theater in Köln

The cinema is alternative in many ways. It doesn't mainly show the big blogbusters - and if they do, it's in the original language, mostly English. Well, if the film is French, it's French and so on. Sometimes, they are German subbed, sometimes not. I love films with a certain depth - that's a cinema to go to if you like films that make you think more about after you left the cinema than when watching the movie. If not right from the start, you realize that you are not in a usual cinema when you try to buy popcorn. That's because they don't have any. Same with Nachos. Instead, you can buy potato chips and Haribo sweets. I had to get used to it at the beginning, but after some time you get used to it. And it would be stupid not to go there because of the popcorn. After all, as the films are a bit more special, there's fewer people who would potentially go there. I guess not having to clean sticky popcorn and cheese from the floors saves a great deal of money. Considering, the 6 € entry are a very reasonable price for a cinema ticket in Cologne. There are no price reductions for students and so on. But there is a bonus system for people who go there often. Last but not least: They do have spaces to put your drinks in during the film. They do not have double seats.

After getting your tickets you are offered a free glass of Sekt or orange juice while waiting for your film to commerce. At this time you also have the possibility to check your coat in - free of charge. The leather arm chairs, which you can lean back in, and a slat comes out for your feet, were wonderfully comfortable. There is so much space to the lounge in front that you can completely stretch out without coming close to reaching it. After taking your seat a waiter comes around to take your order (a menu awaits you next to your arm chair). There is a full selection of light meals, drinks and snacks on the menu. We both ordered a beer and a Mediterranean plate (ham, salami, cheese and a warm bread roll). Very fresh and yummy. The movie we watched was in 3D, so we received 3D glasses when entering the cinema. The glasses were high quality, battery operated glasses. Excellent! All technical equipment is brand-new. The sound and picture quality was top-notch. Such 'luxury' does come at a price. In comparison to other cinemas you'll need to pay an extra 3-4 € per person. Calculate in the free welcome drink & free cloakroom and the extra cost per person will decrease. The only slightly down side is that there are 'only' 3 cinemas. So the total number of movies being shown at any one time is limited. I am a fan of this cinema. If the movie I want to watch is not screening there, I would happily wait until it is. I couldn't see myself willing going back to the 'regular' cinemas in town.

We have never been to Hürth, so we decided to head out (from the center of Köln) and go to the…read morecinema. We ordered tickets online, which was a simple and straight forward process. You will need a Credit Card or EC card to purchase tickets online. You can cancel your tickets 30 mins prior to the film commencing (they do keep a fee of 0,60 € per ticket). We actually ended up cancelling our noon tickets and rebooked for the evening performance. We were able to cancel online without problems (40 mins prior to the film commencing). It took 30 mins to drive out to Hürth. There is free parking next to the cinema. However, plan a few extra minutes if you are going for the first time. There are several parking areas (houses). It is not signed, from the street, which parking area you should enter to go to the cinema. We first went into the wrong one. Once you find the right one to enter, inside the parking garage, directions to the cinema is signed. The free parking is the biggest advantage of this cinema. Once inside the cinema there are 2 machines to receive tickets purchased online. We just had to swipe our Credit Card and the tickets were printed (we did not need to enter the booking / reservation code). You must have the EC / Credit Card you used to purchase the tickets online with you. Exactly this card must be swiped, otherwise there is no chance of getting your tickets. The cinema itself has a little bit of a run-down feeling (small box office, old carpets, and marks on walls). Personal are definitely not the friendliest. One family was complaining to the manager (rightly so - they blocked off an area of the cinema - because they were understaffed - and were forcing everybody into a single, small area - it was getting very tight in there. Finally they found an extra staff member to open-up a second area and the squash went down). The manager just argued back (whereby the family father was being friendly) and it was clear there was no interest at all on her behalf. Once we got into our cinema (13) it was like a sauna. We did mention this to one of the personnel and the air conditioning was turned on. We were expecting ice cream to be sold in the cinema prior to the film commencing (which is standard in Germany), this did not happen. Inside the cinema the seats were comfortable, the picture quality was good, and the sound was also fine. The toilets were newly renovated. All OK! In general - an average experience. It was not good enough to justify travelling out from the center of Köln again.

Although online reservation of tickets and seats cost more, I strongly recommend it to avoid the long lines, as the theater gets very crowded. Only wish they had more original english movies; the majority are dubbed german and they only seem to offer one english movie a week very late (Tuesdays at 11:00pm). Not sure why it's so limited, since many Germans also prefer to see movies in original English. A wider selection of english movies at different times would definitely bump this theater to five stars :)
