Depending on the time of year, it can get pretty congested 2 lane road in and out. Definitely a tourist spot, Spring and Fall are the busiest times. This is another place I say I could live, but I'm sure the tourist would drive me crazy after awhile. I have always had a fascination with the Amish, so I love watching them drive the buggy's around town. Or just going about their business. A little history about Sugarcreek, it's known as the gateway to Amish Country. Amish families as well as Swiss and German were one of the first ones to arrive in Sugarcreek. In the downtown area is the worlds largest Cuckoo Clock. It goes off every hour and swiss characters pop out of the clock with music and dancing. It was built in 1972, while we were there it looked beautiful as if it was just built. Check out their website because they have a Swiss festival every year. September was the 67th annual festival. I'm sure it is a great time.

Visit www.localharvest.org/csa). I found Bird's Haven Farms through localharvest.org, a website that allows you to search for local farmers, markets, and CSAs. From the very first day I picked up my share from Bird's Haven Farms, I was in love. This year, I signed up for the 2012 CSA subscription the day the email hit my inbox. What's great about Bird's Haven? First off, I can pick up at the Westerville Farmers' Market, a smaller weeknight market where I don't have to fight the Saturday crowds at Worthington or Clintonville. Second, the cost is very reasonable considering the amazing quantity of vegetables that we receive over the season. I took pictures every week last summer so I could truly assess how much we got. It was 22 weeks of insane bounty! Third, the extras were just phenomenal. The first week we went to pick up, we got a hanging basket of flowers. Other weeks, we'd occasionally get strawberries or fresh-picked flowers or some other addition to our vegetables that made the day special. Fourth, and this is the best part, they don't pre-box the CSA. They post a list of what's included that week and how many you can take, and you get to pick from big boxes of produce. That means that if you're first to get to the market that day, you get your pick of the harvest. If you're a big family, you can pick out the baseball-bat sized zucchini. If you're not cooking tonight, you can pick out the tomatoes that need a day to ripen so they'll be perfect for tomorrow's dinner. You get to pick what works for you. And finally, I love Bird's Haven for their service. Each week, CSA subscribers receive a recipe for in-season vegetables and a little update on the farm. When I went on vacation, they held back my CSA for a week and let me get double the next week (not all farmers are so understanding). And they're always really friendly!

It is an easy 40 minute ride from Columbus and the second half of the trip was beautiful, rural & idyllic. The small farm is just past the edge of the paved road and is very easy to find. When we got there we were greeted with a smile and a basket for our ripe red gems. The strawberries were early this year, so even though we got to the farm an hour before they closed there were still ripe fruits on the plants. Early in the picking I wanted to make sure it was worth the effort and sampled a strawberry- it was small, but perfectly sweet, ripe and had the most beautiful flavor. It was worth it. They have beautiful plants and fresh veggies you can buy there too and since we missed the farmer's market this morning it was perfect. Their plants were healthy and loved and I can't wait to plant my sage and rosemary. They do take credit cards for those of us who never cary cash. They do recommend calling ahead to make sure the fields have ripe fruit. Make sure you also wear appropriate footwear. They use a black plastic landscape mulching system to cut down on weeds, but the isles are pretty weedy and can get muddy if it has rained. The fields are new this year, so the seasons to come will just be that much better. I can't wait. The Bird family has a wonderful thing going here.

I took the skywalk on 28 February and went straight to the Polsky Building to get some lunch at Chick-Fil-A. The Polsky building has a Starbucks, Chick-Fil-A, a snack shop, and a University of Akron bookstore. The shops are on the 3rd floor I believe. My team walked on the Main street / High street skywalk - this skywalk is called the Main Place skywalk which is named after the Main Place building. There is also a skywalk between High Street and Broadway called the Ocasek Skywalk since the Ocasek building is the main connector. (see my attached photos with maps). The skywalk is convenient during the winter months when you don't want to walk outside. It is connected through different outlet points and even has a tunnel in the Cascade Parking garage. Some parts of the skywalk are cold and one particular section of it (a hallway) smells bad. Maybe the smell is due to some construction in the area outside. But, for the most part, the walk above the streets is nice. You will enjoy looking through the windows and you will fee the bright sunlight over your face. Also, there is some artwork on a few walls on some parts of the Skywalk. I also enjoy the little exercise posters on the walls that encourages movement as you walk through the skywalk. If you are walking leisurely, the walk will take you between 5-10 mins depending on where you are going and where you are coming from. Overall, I recommend the Skywalk as a good form of exercise because you get to leave your desk at work and move around. The buildings you will go through are old but there is no need for building admiration here since the point of the skywalk is to not walk outside. This, the skywalk meets its purpose without looking 100% aesthetically pleasing to the eye. It's an art installation. A alley with umbrellas hung above. Very pretty and great for photos. There are some murals also. Chalk artist draw murals each year on the walls of the alley. There is a mural outside the alley that was vivid so I'd bet it wasn't in chalk. We went on a lovely Friday and no problem getting pics without people. Of course it doesnt take long to see it all.

It is located in the upper part of the outdoor sculpture garden and is available day or night. This is the Bud and Susie Rogers Garden nestled next the museum on High Street. Eagle Wheel was a fixture in the museum's former sculpture garden from 1981 to 2004 when it was removed and placed in storage as part of a massive expansion and renovation of the space. The Gates of Hell in north Columbus is one of those eerie local spots that sticks with you. It's an…read moreold, graffiti-covered tunnel that feels straight out of an urban legend--dark, damp, and definitely creepy once you step inside. The echo of footsteps, the dripping water, and the way the light disappears the deeper you go all add to the unsettling vibe. It's not an official attraction, more of a hidden curiosity, but if you're into spooky local history and a little adventure, it's worth checking out. Just be prepared--it definitely earns its name. I was there alone and I got a sketchy vibe from it. Nothing happened, of course, but you always want to be aware of your surroundings. Maybe pick up a rock incase someone there has ill intent.

They're all owned by passionate, cool locals who believe in what they do. But mostly, this update is just to show appreciation for a few things I often forget about Hingetown- how dog-friendly every business is, the beautifully manicured living wall, and the fact that the Transformer Station (a satellite CMA location) even exists here. I mean, where else can you pet tons of good doggos, see world class art and grab lunch? Since the last time I wrote this, new businesses like Larder Delicatessen, Saucy Brew Works and Title Kickboxing have opened. I can tell the people behind Hingetown are really trying to continuously add and improve. Still 5-stars in 2018!

It feels unnatural for me to call it that. I guess that is how the Native Americans felt when they turned this land into the United States of America. This area was once Cleveland's Gaytown. It was anchored by Bounce. Other notable establishments were the Tool Shed and Man's World.
