Nice staff and the price includes a simple breakfast buffet (poor selection for vegetarian though). On the negative side: the small hotel is situated in an old (beautiful) buildling on the second floor with no lift. As that isn't mentioned on the website I imagine people with disabilities or issues with walking in steep stairs would get a nasty surprise upon arrival... The door to the building is really old and the lock is of a very strange construction, the door locks at a specific time in the evening (8 pm I think it was) and then you have to unlock and lock it with a special key which granted is *a bit* tricky to use. One evening we were almost not able to lock the door behind us again. The beds in our room (double bed with shower and courtyard view) were REALLY hard and uncomfortable with very thin matresses and old, worn bed linen. Hadn't it been for the location, cleanliness, ambiance and value for money (which deserves a 4) the bed-issue would have granted the place a 2 and not as now an altogether 3.

Huettenpalast is an unique "room" of caravans and cabins. It's a renovated old vacuum-production factory. It's the cutest thing you'll ever see. The owner, Silke, is so welcoming and did such a great job designing it and focusing on the little details. We wanted to stay in one of the caravans, but those were all booked up two months prior to our trip. So if you want a caravan, claim those fast! We ended up staying in the Berghutte (Mountain Cabin), which turned out to be awesome with the private space and window facing outside. What was cool was that most people staying at Huettenpalast while we were there were German families and couples on vacation. It's not like a hostel with a bunch of rowdy college kids. Breakfast was provided in the central area under the tree. There was water, coffee, tea, croissants, and fruit. Bathrooms were shared, but impeccably clean. Be sure to let Silke know if you're getting in past 7pm. The staff do not live on the premises, so if you don't have a key to get into the property, you're in trouble (unless you have an international phone, which we did not).

I chose this one because it is centrally located for a first time visit to the city. It is near transportation and Museum Island. The area was a former Soviet center so expect minimalist austere functionalism. However, it is a great launching point for most attractions with plenty of eateries and shopping nearby. If you want more of a modern city vibe, I would check out lodging closer to the zoo and Tiergarten. Can't give it a five stars even though it is fairly priced. They did not have much toiletries, and the rooms are small. It would be a bit tight for two unless you just crash in the room. I did appreciate having a door size window to peer over the city. The concierge was helpful. There are perks for those who sign up for their member program. It is a popular motel so if you check in late afternoon there is usually a queue.

We would have appreciated a few more hangers to use as between 2 of us we had to split 6 which really was a stretch. There was a safe in the room which we weren't expecting but appreciated. Staff was extremely friendly & helpful. We didn't pay extra for the breakfast since there wasn't anything listed as vegan (or vegan-option) on the website. Our room was extremely warm though, and no turning down of the thermostat seemed to change that. Most nights we slept on TOP of the covers due to the heat.

But none of them compare to Casa Camper,that isn't to do any of the others down,they were all good in their own right,but for sheer enjoyment Camper wins hands down. The staff were all awesome. The room was awesome. The shower was awesome. The bed was awesome. The honour bar is an awesome idea. The breakfast was awesome. The location is awesome (Near to The Absinthe Depot and round the corner from one of the nicest kebabs (or kebap) that i've ever had). All our fellow guests that we spoke to were awesome. Ange Z is awesome for finding and booking here. Also I'm awesome,just because.... Fair enough,it's not the chespest of places at which to stay,but at the end of the day you get what you pay for,and possibly more at Casa Camper. The next time i'm going to visit this great City then Casa Camper will certainly be my go to Hotel,it really is that good!!

It was hard to go home again after staying a few days in this friendly, comfortable, modern, quirky, and completely supportive boutique hotel. It manages to be ultra-modern without being pretentious or cold, a nice trick. The rooms are perfectly sized - not overwhelming but not cramped, stocked with robes and slippers and wonderful toiletries, and the rain shower is awesome. Free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, also a free business center with 2 computers and a printer, and the breakfast area is well supplied with free newspapers, fruit, snacks, bread, a coffee machine, and non-alcoholic drinks available 7x24. The actual breakfasts (7-11 AM) are cooked to order, and the dining room, lounge, and "Bodega" (a self-service honor bar) have a wonderful view over the city from the 7th floor. It was so pleasant sitting in the comfortable lounge in the evening, catching up on email or reading with a glass of wine from the Bodega. The staff are diverse, young, and exceptionally helpful and congenial. The hotel is located just a few steps around the corner from the Weinmeisterstrasse U8 station. However, for most of the things you might want to see in Berlin Mitte, the U-bahn is not even necessary. There are many good restaurants within a few blocks, and it's just a short walk to the museum island or Unter den Linden, among other attractions. Now that I've been completely spoiled at the Casa Camper I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Berlin.

Tram stop M12 (Raumerstraße) in front of the hostel and U-Bahn station Eberswalder Straße 2 tram stops or 10 minute walk away. Close to Mauerpark, Konnipke's Imbiß (famous currywurst), Kulturbrauerei, Kollwitz kiez etc etc A few doors down the street there's a delightful Sushi restaurant (Mikoto: cheap and good quality, see review) and shisa lounge (water pipe). When arriving at SXF airport you'll prolly take the S9 to Schönhauser Allee. There is a mall with lots of shops. Near Konnopke's Imbiß you can rent a bike at Lila Bike (Schönhauser Allee 41) for just €8 first day, €5 following days. HOSTEL/STAFF: Friendly staff. Unfortunately the 'kitchen' was out of order during my stay because they were building a new and bigger one in the room next to the reception. Should be finished soon tho. You'll get a code to get in when the reception is closed. There's no elevator so be prepared to climb some stairs (max 3 levels). There's a courtyard where smokers can sit (beach bench with rooftop) and you can park a (rental) bike. Bonus: Staff gave me an upgrade to a double room cause those rooms weren't fully booked! Defo a big plus! I stayed on the 3rd floor. There's a bathroom (with toilet and sink) and seperate toilets. They're proper and clean. The floor's old and walking the hallway makes a lot of noise. ROOM: Double room (facing courtyard) has a big boxspring (160x200cm) with 2 duvets, bedside tables, small table, two chairs, a wardrobe rack, another chair and rack. White curtain. Natural ventilation (window). At the time I stayed there was no ventilator in the room (no airco as well). The room was clean; just a little bit dust in te corners. Walls are thin and floor makes noise so if you're a light sleeper; bring some earplugs with you! I had two great sleeps tho. Was a bit warm in the room due to high temperature (27 degrees Celcius) and high humidity (rain). So I only used the duvet cover. Summary: Had a great stay at Old Town Hostel. Was a bit disappointed tho that there wasn't a kitchen I could use due to renovations. However, would defo come back to this hostel. I couldn't find a cheaper room with shared bathroom in the neighbourhood.

This hotel oozes cool, not in a "trying to be cool" way, but in an authentic, grounded and personable way. The staff are lovely. The aesthetic is so tasteful and creative. The courtyard is a fun place to hang out. Sometimes there's live music. It's simply just a wonderful place to spend time, and rest while in Berlin. We had a minor misunderstanding upon departure, but the hotel settled was understanding and dealt it with gracefully. Very appreciate there are good humans and good businesses in this ever-changing world. We will definitely be back and I can't recommend this more highly to anyone considering a stay here. I don't think we've ever stayed somewhere so nice. Breakfast is amazing - so many hot and cold options that all are carefully chosen and prepared. Two things to note: this hotel has a bar/event venue in the courtyard so if you're looking for somewhere completely quiet to stay - this isn't it - stay here if you enjoy being around people and music. Also there isn't AC and as such the room got hot for my American blood. I do think they have fans available, though.
