Burger is small on a big bun and basically tasteless. Staff is generally inattentive and could not care less. Payment with credit card seems to be an intellectual challenge too! Since it's not always calm and sunny even in summer, they have a nice indoor area as well. Of course, rain or shine, if I am at a beach, I sit outside. The outdoor area is really nice. They have a cocktail shack playing good dance music as well as nice plastic sofas for you to enjoy the view. Since wind is a natural phenomenon at Dutch beaches, you get little blankets on the seats. The service is quick and simple. The menu is surprisingly loaded with vegetarian snacks as well as entrees. I didn't order a cocktail, but people looked pleased with their's. I really liked the nacho chips as they had a nice crust of cheese on top, although the guacamole was store brand silliness as was the salsa. On that note, I think the qualify of the snacks really wasn't anything to write about. The pesto for the bread was cheap and store brand. The garlic spread was way too artificial. But, hey, you get a great view and hopefully some good times at a beach. Good is just part of the equation.

Don't take a book with you, it is pointless, you must mingle, people watch, eat, drink and dance. The staff: candy watch, friendly and fun. I would not, however, count on this spaciousness on a weekend when all of Amsterdam and the rest of the Randstad seeks asylum from the city heat-terror on the beaches of the North Sea. Foodwise, my experience was quite good. The berry smoothie is delicious. And in case you missed breakfast in the rush of getting to the beach, the breakfast offer sounds great and healthy. I was a little bit disappointed that they had ran out of the salad I wanted to order, but my alternative was quite nice as well. The vibe and style is very surfer chic, which is my favorite seaside style. After your lunch or breakfast, within reasonable digestion time, you can rent a SUP or take a surfing lesson, or simply go to the beach.

The awesome Amsterdam CM, Flip, brought us here for a quick drink and to "live like a local" before heading over to the Red Light District (more on that in another review!). It's located in a rather small street, and the space itself isn't too large...but it sure is "homey". I tried a couple of belgian beers and then something magical happened....the staff began passing around a plate of cheese and sausages (with some delicious mustard) for everyone to nibble on. No, they were not selling it...it was free! I was in shock..this doesn't happen in the bars I go to. The cheese was delicious and the sausages as well but when you dip it into the mustard it kicks it up a notch. They also had wine available (the wife said it was good! Good enough to warm you up that's for sure, as it was FREEZING outside, by our standards.) It seemed like every single person that walked in was greeted with hugs (and three kisses? I love that little touch they put on their greetings. Not one kiss like my Hispanic folks, not two kisses like the French, but THREE kisses, cheek to cheek). This certainly felt like the bar where EVERYONE knows your name!
