    Dr Pepper fudge cake
    David B.

First the decor and ambiance is great. Now for our experience. I made reservations a couple of days in advance and we were seated at a small two-top near the entrance and host stand (probably the least desirable spot in the restaurant). There were other better tables available during our time there so I'm not sure why we were seated in that spot. Next we ordered an appetizer that never came. When our meals came I mentioned to the person serving them that our meal came before the appetizer (deviled eggs). He determined the waitress forgot to put them into the system. Mistakes happen. Now on to our entrees. I ordered the $47 Chilean Sea Bass. It's was a small piece (maybe 4 ozs) on a bed of wet couscous. The sea bass was cooked perfectly albeit a very small portion. The couscous was overly wet and the taste overpowered by the taste of soy sauce. For $1 more I could have gotten a much larger steak that looked really good when delivered to other tables. The other entree we received was the $26 cheesiest cheeseburger which was cooked perfectly medium rare and had great flavor. I ordered a mojito which had no fresh mint and an average flavor. For dessert I ordered the Dr Pepper fudge cake. It was ok, but much more the consistency of a dry brownie than fudge cake. The food and service gets 2 stars but the extra star is for the ambience. I would not recommend the Sea Bass due to portion size but especially because the couscous was horrible. Such an easy thing thing to make, no reason for it to be too wet and overly salty with soy sauce. (It looked nothing like photos I've seen from this restaurant.) Would I eat here again? Maybe, but I'd stick to hamburger and try the steak. I expected much more for it being a Magnolia property and the price point. I don't mind paying $50+ per diner if I'm getting that quality food. They can do much better. We were disappointed.

    Spicy lobster and tagliatelle pasta

Absolutely a beautiful restaurant with amazing views. Classy and comfortable! Service was on point. Our server was friendly and allowed us plenty of time to sit and relax, enjoy our drinks and appetizer before taking our dinner order. My husband ordered the spicy lobster with pasta. He loved it! It wasn't as spicy as he would like but it had great seasoning. My son got the filet that came with asparagus and potatoes. They cooked it to perfection and he said it was really tender. I got the Chilean seabass. It was perfectly cooked. It came with quinoa, shiitake mushrooms and was supposed to have pea shoots, but I didn't see any. The quinoa and mushrooms were over salted, ( may have been the ginger scallion sauce) which is a shame because the seabass was amazing! We had the Dr. Pepper Fudge cake and Chess pie for dessert. Yum yum yum!! Both were excellent. I highly recommend this place and we will definitely come back.

I was just a random walk in, but Ron was able to look at reservations and accommodate me for dinner. I was given a seat w a view out to the terrace and city. Inside the decor was historical yet lovely with both charm and clean lines. Well done. Hunter was my amazing waiter. He was kind and attentive with great menu knowledge and advice. I had the plank cooked salmon with Brussel sprouts, didn't want rice so they gave me broccoli. It was fantastic. Thanks Ron, Hunter, and Team! I would definitely go back!

This is a beautiful restaurant the servers were attentive and the food was good. The view from the rooftop is nice

This is a beautiful and small eatery in hotel 1928! It is such a fun place to go, especially if you are celebrating something or are really looking for a unique location. They have an artesenal menu with well sourced ingredients! It is a bit upscale pricy -- typical entree for dinner was around $25-40. Everything was delicious. The French fries were so fresh, the burger was a big piece of meat-- cooked to perfection. I also had the chicken and mushrooms-- it was like a chicken Marsala. Loved the flavors. Wait staff were very friendly. I felt bad they had to keep filling up the tiny water glasses so often. Overall it was delicious food in a unique location, great service and a bit bougie! Feminine vibes! I came here with my husband but I think it'd be such a fun place to go with the ladies !

Had a lovely brunch at Bertie's when I visited Waco with family! It was a chilly, rainy day so we sat inside but really enjoyed the beautiful decor and ambiance (as one does at a Magnolia spot). We drank both coffee and cocktails and loved the unique mixes and fresh botanical ingredients! The food was delicious, and very filling. I had the French toast skillet, which was so good, but could only eat so much! My family enjoyed the burger and ricotta pancakes as well. Since we waited a bit for our food, without asking our server brought us a complimentary baked good as well, which was very good. i would definitely visit again during my next trip to Waco!

Came here for a date night. Ambiance was superb, wish there was dining outside but regardless we got to enjoy it after. All staff were very friendly and attentive. Cesar salad was alright and they probably have better appetizers to offer. Seabass was delicious! Tasted almost like a asian-fusion dish. Steak was great but kind of small for the price. Great experience and will definitely stop by again. Also shoutout to Lexi for being a great server!

First off - the hotel and restaurant is beautiful. Every corner is decorated to the perfect aesthetic. The service and staff are just as great. They were very polite, helpful, and friendly. Our waiter was very attentive. I ordered the cheeseburger and thought it was delicious. The burger was juicy and came with a pretty large amount of fries. The burger was simple but elevated enough to be different and memorable. The only downside is the price, but the service and ambiance help counteract that.

I think they should have had all the kinks worked out by now (it's been over 5 months) but they don't have anything to worry about because people are going here because of Joanna. The food and service don't have to be good...not a ton of choices once you're downtown and done seeing g the silos. The good Beautiful interior Great view of downtown Waco Good cocktails The bad They were out of two entrees ( of course the ones we wanted). Wine list is underwhelming Risotto was undercooked Very loud Service was spotty If I ever go back to Waco, I will definitely go back but I'll get drinks on the rooftop terrace.

The vibe is very laid back and chill. The food was really good, we had a couple kids meals (cheeseburgers), a BYOB and I got the Gosh Jam It Burger and added Fried Onions, Bacon and Chipotle Sauce. The burger was yummy and the flavors blended well! We also enjoyed an order of fried pickles at the table along with samples of their free flavored pickles not pictured. I ordered the fried pickles and I thought they would come out as an appetizer, but they were put next to the burger as a side so I was disappointed in that. The fried pickles were way too thick for my liking although they were breaded well. What's neat about this place is the variety of different flavored pickles that they have in the corner for you to eat. I really did like that!! There's a bar in the center of the floor and although I didn't get anything from the bar, I did like the setup. The burger itself was okay. Not spectacular, but not the worst. Would I eat here again? I think I would.

Off its first appearance, the restaurant appears as your classic no-frills, get-what-you-asked for establishment. There is lots of outdoor seating, very fair pricing, and a surprisingly extensive menu; I doubt you'll fail to find something you enjoy here. Overall it seemed like a location that would be bumping in conjunction with Baylor college nights, post church service, or otherwise Waco-oriented affairs. My only complaint was really the smell. We came near close when some workers were cleaning, however there was an apparent chemical stench within the patio, between the inside seating and outdoor seating. My partner ordered the sausage po boy, while I ordered the fried chicken plate, wish mashed potatoes & gravy + green beans. The wait was rather long, which can be attributed towards the chicken's cook time - which might be front scratch. After we got our plates, I certainly couldn't complain. The chicken was decently sized and decadent with flavor. Consistent, strong Cajun spicing littered the tray and chicken, while its interior was extremely juicy and filled with flavor; additionally, it still maintained structure and provided a nice crunch on the surface. The mashed potatoes were equally as enjoyable. The gravy complemented the potatoes well, and established an equilibrium through texture. The green beans however, were not my favorite. They initially appeared fine on the surface, but became watered down and lacking in flavor the farther down the bowl you went. I would not be surprised if these beans were canned. I would certainly find myself eating here again. Its biggest appeals are the prices, genuine quality of food, and disposition. It is not perfect, but it is more than satisfactory. If you cannot get over the minor inconveniences that you may run into here, then you probably shouldn't be eating Cajun anyways.

We were greeted as soon as we walked in and directed to choose a table of our preference. The waitress quickly came over and grabbed our drink order while we looked at the menu. We placed our order and the waitress was very knowledgeable and able to answer our questions. She also informed us they work as a team so we can stop anyone when/if we need something. We started with the "Burning Bush" appetizer (crispy Brussel sprouts w/ lemon garlic aioli). YUM! They had just the right bite to them, and the glaze on them paired with the aioli was delicious! For our entrees we had the Golden Calf Burger w/ sweet potato fries and sriracha aioli and The Weight of Glory Sandwich w/ broccoli slaw. They were both incredibly flavorful and fresh! You can tell they locally source their ingredients and prepare them onsite. The portions are also plentiful, and we left with a takeout box. To round off lunch we tried the special mousse on the specials board (coffee flavored cheesecake mousse). It was so delightful we dug in before I could snap a pic. Just enough coffee flavor paired with chocolate sauce (not hersheys ). The big windows allow for a lot of natural light and lends to a welcoming and warm environment. We will for sure be back and bring others!

I especially enjoyed how the herbed goat cheese mixed with the lemon aioli (aioli is garlic mayo so the garlic is redundant in the menu) and beef patty.
