Besame is one of my most frequented restaurants in Steamboat and is consistently good every time. The food, service, and atmosphere always make it an easy choice, and their happy hour (30% off tapas from 4:00-5:30) is a great bonus. This visit, we ordered the Watermelon Gazpacho (GF), Beef Short Rib Anticucho (GF), and Ensalada de Manzana y Manchego (GF). The Beef Short Rib Anticucho was the star of the meal, at least for me, I honestly wanted more because it was so good! The salad was also delicious and, while definitely more apple-heavy than greens, they were happy to accommodate my request for extra greens. My only criticism is that the menu doesn't mention the compressed watermelon in the gazpacho is infused with sangria. As someone who no longer drinks alcohol, I could definitely taste it and wish that had been disclosed on the menu. Overall, Besame remains one of my favorite spots in Steamboat. I loved my experience here and I would have given this five stars if it wasn't for two dishes that I didn't love. We ordered about 10 different toppers for the table, so it was pretty good odds to find a couple that weren't winners, but I have to be honest. The ambience is so cute, very swanky, but anything in Colorado still feels casual because everyone shows up in flannels and T-shirts. We had a 5 o'clock reservation and were sat right on time, and the service was really great. I started with a Pisco sour, one of my favorite drinks and really uncommon to find in this part of the world. It was delicious. I could've drank five of them. We shared a bunch of tapas for the table, starting with the patatas bravas, octopus, ceviche, duck wings, yuca frita, croquetas, gyozas, and shishito peppers. The clear winner was the ceviche - not your typical Peruvian style, made with salmon and a thicker aji amarillo sauce. It was absolutely amazing and served with these yummy plantain chips that paired so well with it. Those were also a big standout. The texture was perfect both outside and inside. I liked the octopus too, and the patatas bravas were good but felt they could have been a little more crispy on the outside and had the sauce more well-distributed. The wings really were not memorable, overly breaded and thickly sauced. The yuca was the biggest letdown of the night, usually one of my favorite dishes, but these tasted like they came frozen from a bag and did not even finish microwaving before they were served. Great menu that delivers! Came on Thurs night just before 7PM and were fortunate to get a table for two. The place was certainly packed abuzz...seems to be the place to be. Bésame makes me feel like I'm at home! It gives me a sense of belonging . My husband and I dropped by for happy hour (we'd been a couple of days before) to celebrate our anniversary. The bar was packed, but Jesse went the extra mile for us! We were seated at a table, ordered a couple of mojitos, and then moved to the bar when two seats were available. I was in Steamboat Springs for one week of work. My coworker had already been here for a few weeks and knew where the good foodie spots were. So one night she recommended Besame. We were lucky enough to come during the last few minutes of Happy Hour, so of course, I ordered a glass of wine. She raved about the plantains, so we ordered that. It came with a dipping sauce, but quite frankly it didn't need it, it stood on its own. We also ordered the Cuban Bread - delicious! The Camarones Ala Plancha was great! And we also used the Cuban bread to dip into that sauce the prawns came with, so definitely order those together. We also ordered the Octopus a la Brasa - it was so tender and not overcooked and another hit! We had the Duck Wings, which were ok, not sure I would order that again. For dessert we had the Choco Taco - I didn't have any, so I can't talk about it and the Banana Bread Pudding. Seriously, that Banana Bread Pudding was super delicious, I would highly recommend ordering that to finish your meal! When we lived here this one of our favorite spots. Were back visiting friends and decided to all go and wow have things gone downhill. Our server was extremely rude from the minute we checked in and was visibly annoyed that we had two children (who are 8-9) with us. It took 32 minutes from when we sat down to getting drinks served. Our server was more interested in chatting with a friend at the bar than checking in with her tables. The service was honestly so wildly abysmal it was shocking. There are many other spots in town that still take pride in their food and hospitality. Skip this place. read more

We ordered a bunch of tapas. The masa empanadas and gyoza el pastor were very good. Although the plantains were just ok and the chicharrones tasted the same as what you can get at any Asian or Mexican grocery store so we shouldn't have chose those but honestly thought they would have an enhanced flavor. The best of the best in Steamboat. Had a celebration dinner here this weekend with family from out of town and Besamé blew them away. Every tapa was amazing (extra shout out to the Elote & patatas bravas), the drinks were all amazing and beautiful (shout out to the Pisco Sour), and the entrees are all also amazing (can't even pick here- quessabirria, Cuban, smash burgers, curry...). The only problem at Besame is getting too full to keep eating. Lastly, the staff is amazing and attentive and quick and friendly. Not actually sure how the review this one... the food was amazing as were the drinks. Highly recommend the octopus and empanadas! The choco taco and horchata float were deliciously whimsical! Our waitress was perfectly friendly and service was great! But... we had barely finished dessert and were halfway through our still hot coffees when the manager stopped by to shoo us out of the half empty restaurant because she needed the table for another reservation. There was literally an empty two top, four top and six top around us in the little upstairs space alone and several more tables we could see downstairs. Having lived in Spain for half a year, I was more than impressed with the food at Besame. It is a lovely, intimate spot for a nice meal. I highly recommend you make a reservation during their happy hour. It was an incredible deal for spectacular food with really good portions. For drinks, we ordered The Tipsy Carrot and the Seasonal Sangria. I loved my sangria and was so excited to see a cinnamon stick in there. For the food, we started with Brussels sprouts. There were chunks of chorizo in them, and the Brussels sprouts themselves were crispy yet still juicy. Getting the right consistency in these can be tough, but they got it perfectly! We also got the al pastor gyoza. These were also incredible, and the sauce they were in was to die for. The pork belly adobo was recommended to us by our waiter, and we are so glad to have listened to him. The flavor was so good! Lastly, the octopus took me right back to being in Spain. It was just as I remembered it with the potatoes and aioli. The octopus was not too tough and practically melted in my mouth. This had to be my favorite dish of the night! If there's one place you're going to eat at when in Steamboat Springs, you have to pick Besame. For the quality, I am still blown away at how cheap it was (during happy hour) compared to some other places we ate at, and the food here was much better with larger portions. Oh my God. We had so many dishes and every dish was amazing. The Gyoza was phenomenal. Maybe the best ever. The short ribs was really good although I didn't get to really try it because my girlfriend ate all of it. The Caesar salad was excellent. The ceviche was very good Although I have to admit that I wouldn't say it was out of this world. The tuna was fabulous. So was the Thai curry and the red snapper fish. Late minute switch in plans, and we ended up coming here for dinner. Nice decor inside. Lots of Spanish style paintings and wall art. Huge bar area with a lot of different drinks and cocktails. Evidently happy hour ends at 530pm, and we were seated at 520pm. Our waitress failed to mention to us that happy hour ends in about 8 min. We figured that out when we looked at the happy hour menu a little bit closer and figured it out. 50% of cocktails and 30% off tapas. So we had to go look for her so we could put in our happy hour orders before the 530pm deadline. She stood there with a major RBF as we had to figure out what we were ordering. If looks could kill, there would've been 5 dead in Steam Boat Springs. We ordered a medley of tapas, including: 1. Patatas bravas- fried potato balls in a marinera type sauce. They were pretty good. Good portions, too. 2. Sweet plantains- cooked well. Nice taste. Sauce didn't add anything to it. But it was good. 3. Octopus- large portion. Sauce was a tzatziki type sauce. But the actual octopus was cooked well. Firm but not chewy. Good char on the outside. And the potatos were a good accompaniment for it. 4. Seared scallop- 1 large scallop. Beautiful presentation. Cooked well. Nice and sweet. 5. Camarones a la plancha- 3 Jumbo shrimps in a somewhat spicy sauce. I've never seen such large shrimps. Slightly chewy. But the sauce was really good. Had a nice heat to it. 6. Masa empanada- 2 empanadas per order. Nice and flaky. Tasted pretty good. Not overly oily. Good amount of filling. 7. Chicharones- these were amazing. I loved the seasoning they had on top of it. It was one of the cheapest things we ordered, but one of the best things we had. They were so good. 8. Ancho chili duck wings- never had an order of duck wings. Like oversized chicken wings. The sauce was good. Nice and sticky. With good heat. Had a mandarin orange type sauce on the bottom. The wings reminded me of korean style wings. Where the skin was super crispy but inside was juicy and soft and moist. This was really good. 9. Iced cafe ole- coffee based cocktails. It was bitter from the coffee but refreshing. I really enjoyed it! 10. Muu wan- this was an entree. There was a lot of it, too!! Candied or sweet pork belly. It was sticky from the sauce. Nice and sweet but also savory. The meat was fall apart good. Tasted amazing with the rice. Solely based on the food, it's a solid 5 stars. I love tapas because you can have a little bit of everything. Everything had it's own unique taste. And honestly, everything tasted great. Food came out quickly. Rapid fire, one after another. And eating so many little things I was stuffed afterward. Drinks are good, and vibes are on point. Amazing food, mediocre server. Our server was "training" with how quiet and uninterested she was it was hard to tell who was the veteran. Menu is pretty extensive, ordered drinks and apps waited to order entre because we were so indecisive. At no point did the server make recommendations. As our appetizers were cleared so were our forks, our entres came out but we had nothing to eat them with, had to get up to steal a roll up off another table, we are halfway done and our server then decides to come by to check on us. Mind you it was 6pm, we were one of 3 tables in the place with 2 servers and a trainee on. For $180. I would expect more attention to detail on service. Food is fantastic! read more

My wife and I went to Besame with our good friends from Colorado Springs September 2025. Again, we had a phenomenal time enjoying the food and atmosphere. We decided on 5 tapas. We asked the server to bring out no more than 2 at a time so we could enjoy sharing all the plates. We started with the Brussel Sprouts. These were fantastic. As with previous trips, all of us really enjoyed the complex flavors, even our friend who says he doesn't like brussel sprouts. We also had the elote. This was excellent as well, with layers of sauce on top of an ear of corn with enough for all of us to share the flavors. We then had the beef shortrib. This came with delicious mashed potatoes and also a thick sauce with vegetables which had a wonderful flavor. Next we had the mussels. This was a very large bowl of perfectly cooked mussels in a delicious sauce. We asked for bread and dipping the bread in the sauce was especially good. Finally we had prawns. These normally come as three, but since there were four of us we asked for 4. These were good, and came with sauce also, but we had had the mussels in a sauce right before and this somewhat distracted from having the prawns after the mussels. All in all, the experience was delightful and a wonderful way to share a meal with good friends! The service was excellent and the atmosphere was consistent with the Latin atmosphere. WOW! I have spent weeks of every year my whole life in steamboat since I was a child and have never had a meal as good as our anniversary dinner here. Everything was perfect. We did the ceviche, short rib, octopus, and soup dumplings. HOW IS IT SO GOOD? The flavors. Nothing too rich and nothing plain everything balanced and even though we were full we didn't feel sick or stuffed because the ingredients were all so good.
