The location doesn't seem to matter. I ordered a network amplifier (Sonos product) and set an installation via GeekSquad to bring the part and install in one happy, easy visit. Several automated emails, texts and information sent that I needed to fill out & respond to in order to ensure the appointment would go swimmingly. As advertised, I get a text the night before the appointment stating the arrival window to be between 1:30 & 5:30pm. Game on. On the day of, a notice arrives that allows you to "see" a closer window for arrival. It suggests that 2:20pm is a likely arrival time. I arrive at the installation location roughly 2:30 anticipating a simple and smooth install and music streaming throughout the home inside of an hour. About 3:30 I attempted to find the screen that shows updated arrival time and the website suggests there is no appointment scheduled. I call and the system states that it appears I am waiting on an appointment and to go to the website for any updates. No texts, no emails received since an early morning text. I call back. Go through the maze of prompts. The unintelligible person on the other end, states that the appointment had been cancelled because the part I bought a week earlier had not arrived. Understanding that I won't be back to music filling the home this afternoon, I suggest to the off-shore "employee" that if the part hadn't arrived, then why the text the night before and note the day of regarding the nice little 4 hour window was still being planned for our friends from GeekSquad (a BestBuy affiliate) later in the day. This prompted or shall I say the computer prompted the "employee" to suggest that I would have received an email with any changes in the process. Yep, sorry but I never did. This was promptly followed by a demand that they cancel the entire order and that I indeed will wait for the communication to come across showing the refund in full to my account. Lo and behold that came through nearly immediately. So a painless effort of ordering and setting up an appointment online, leads to 3 hours away from productivity and absolutely no progress in fixing the issue. My strong opinion is to never purchase, order, or plan to visit or schedule an appointment with either BestBuy or their service arm GeekSquad. please avoid the pain of attempting to deal with this hometown (I live in Minneapolis) company. I never write reviews, but after my experience in this store, I feel compelled to warn the community. I purchased an OLED HDTV with speakers and was waiting for delivery. Included in the purchase was free installation for the home theater system. Yesterday I walked in to see if they could exchange the TV for a smaller size. During the process, the employee accidentally deleted all of the promotional services (the installation) that I had been guaranteed under the original purchase. So he made a mistake which is understandable. This is the part you should know: 1) The manager was unable to reverse the mistake and stated that I'd now need to pay $800 more to get what I needed. 2) The manager (woman red hair) and the employee (Kevin) refused to take responsibility for the mistake. The employee's response was essentially that he didn't know what he was doing. The manager's response was that the problem occurred before she arrived. 3) The manager called me "Hon" and was condescending during the transaction despite me being close to twice her age. 4) This process took 1.5 hours I now understand why most of the reviews for this store are awful. In the end, I asked them to delete my membership and all of my purchases. They clearly do not care about my business and you shouldn't give them yours. read more

Second time in a year I came to the Geek Squad for help. First time repair would "need to be sent out. 5-6 weeks for completion." Really? Took it elsewhere and received it back in 4 days. The other day came in for a screen repair. "No problem" I was told. But would be sent out. 3-6 weeks lead time. Took it elsewhere and next Day had my screen fixed/ repaired and computer back. They set a date, and I took time off work. then I received messages from the sub contractor who was installing that it had to be changed. so I called and they said no, the delivery date was the same. I got several confirmations and was sitting at home waiting for the delivery when I received a call saying it wasn't available in the warehouse. Manager said there was no record of any of my calls so we started over. Now told someone would call within 24-48 hours. The Best Buy employee, who answered the phone, said that one of the two cell phone guys was 'at lunch' and thus I could leave a message or call back later. Ummmm: they open at 10am on Tuesday so that means they need a lunch break after 1.5 hours of working? This like a Hobbit 'Second Lunch' or something? Beyond that, I do not know about this store... the logic of lunch breaks 1.5 hours into the work day kind of lost me. Update: I was promised, twice, that the cell phone guys would call me 'when they had some time' and I never got a call. When I went into the store at 3:40pm the two of them were doing nothing: standing there looking bored and smarmy and neither of them with a phone in their hand calling customers like me back. Pretty OK Best Buy. I think that the service is fine enough. An ASUS GL502v which was purchased from a young guy named DeMarcus (?) turned out nicely & still runs like a top. It plays Metro 2033 Last Light Redux, the new DOOM, Titans: Planetary Assault, & Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void, as well as SC2: Nova, all on Ultra graphical settings, passing all of my tests with flying colors! A MicroCenter notebook kept freezing up & so that p.o.s. was brought back & this new one is the beastly gaming laptop now. Thanks to the kid for setting me up with that warranty plan & the Kaspersky security system subscription. Got some headphones on Black Friday as well I have a sibling who worked there during his high school years & didn't think it was that great, just OK. At this point in time this sibling, named Nick, is now employed at a software place called Reaktor. This retail store is somewhat near the house & the workplace & so that's convenient. Be very leery of any promises made by the Minnetonka Appliance Specialist Sales team as they just want to make the sale and do not provide honest answers or keep commitments to follow-up. I am still waiting on follow-up on my order for a refrigerator that was ordered on October 19, 2021, delivery and install scheduled on December 10, 2021 and cancelled the day of. Reschedule is scheduled for January 31, 2022 and the global service line can not provide any information or solutions. We are cutting the Comcast cord so I stopped out for a modem/router combo as well as a suitable streaming service that offers local channels as well as the tennis channel. I had at least 6 people approach me offering assistance. They helped me find a good modem and then pointed me to the "home theater" section so I could talk with an associate about streaming services. The trip was seamless. Pleasant and knowledgeable associates that were very helpful. Good customer service is not easy to come by in retail these days. Wanted to look at a camera today(4/28/22), and asked Bob behind the counter in the TV dept. if he could help. Cabinet was locked, I also wanted a price. We stand there with Bob on his cell phone looking up the price on the Best Buy website, didn't tell me what he was doing, I asked to open the cabinet but he said I'd have to get a manager to do that. I've been on hold for the past 10 minutes with no human or robot contact on the other end of the phone. What are they doing in the store? Having a "talk-a-thon" with each person on the phone? I swear I could have driven here faster and probably gotten an answer to my question. - Ok so someone just picked up and now I"m back on hold because "no we can't do that" UGH! if the geek squad can't then who can!?!?!? Man on the phone checked with the Geek Squad who said that they can fix my password issus and bring it back to factory settings for $70.00. Wonderful ... pack up the laptop and into the car we go. We get to Best Buy and then the girl at the Greek Squad counter was pretty mean and said that she can't fix the password problem that I'm basically SOL and that she can restore my computer but it will cost $200.00! (In the 10 minutes that it took me to drive there the cost went up $130.00??????) TO make matters worse I have all of the CD's that are needed to do the restore. When I asked how can I do it at home? - well, wait for the black screen and put in the CD. It will tell you what to do! I have spent more time and money in this store then I want to admit. It's like a candy store to me, all the shiny toys and things that light up easily distracts me. Now though I limit my time and visits as to prevent me from buying a TV when I just go in to get a simple phone case. Over the years of shopping here at this location, they usually tend to have the items that I am looking for in stock. The staff is friendly and helpful. I was glad to see that this location got a well needed makeover both on the store front and the inside. I do like the additions of the different 'stores' within the store concept. Apple, Samsung and Microsoft each have their own dedicated section of the store with knowledgeable employees that do know what they are talking about and not just someone who reads off the item tag, cause you know I couldn't do that for myself. Overall this is my favorite store to go to and it does help that it's the closest one to my place. read more

I wish I could do 0 stars. i brought my phone Back to Mtka Best Buy where I bought it. Just a few months prior along w an I pad and computer We spent a lot. They said I needed an appointment. They didn't have time for about a month. They offered me one at a different location about 45 min away two weeks later. the Mtka location looked at it and took it around to corner to ask someone else something. Took my case off. It was not cracked until I got home and took the case off myself again. I called. The manager pretty much called me a lire. the worker at 1st told me what they would need to do at that other apt at the other location. one the way to the other location my Google maps would not work w out WiFi. I kept on trying to get a hold of anyone at any location. They had random people answering who didn't work in one of the stores and not in our state. At this point, I was completely lost and not in a good part of town. I was really afraid. a couple hours later I found my way home. On the way home, I stoped by the Minnetonka location and told them what happened. They didn't help fix what they broke/ the entire back of my phone. they were going to charge me a lot to fix. I talked to a shorter lady manager who was so abrupt/short/ rude and kept telling me how important she is w Best Buy! Also calling me a lier. at this time I was furious. Best Buy is Best Buy - for the most part - so this review is strictly for the Geek Squad Automotive Installers. The dudes here are simply amazing. They are so nice and informative and don't get short when you ask them 871651321 questions about how the remote start works with your new push-to-start vehicle, and what the pieces look like, and if the locks will still work, and why your lights aren't on anymore...you get the picture (I had a lot of questions). My most recent experience was having my remote start installed in my 2015 vehicle. I was nervous because it was the first one of the model year they would be touching, but they kept my trust with answering all my questions and ensuring me it would be done properly and timely. They even go over your new features and make sure you know how to use it - and that it works properly - before you leave the store. I would recommend everyone go here for anything they need installed in their vehicle. Like I said, they are simply amazing. Two years ago my brother and I got LT Phoenix 2 phones for our parents, who are in their late 80s, at this location. On my recent visit to MN I learned they still don't know how to use them much at all, and as an iPhone user I couldn't find my way around the phones too well either. We stopped in for help, and Jason the Samsung salesman set their screens up to be much clearer and more accessible even though it was outside his job duties. He was really nice and we all were so grateful. I also had good experiences with the staff when we were in there two years ago for the phones and for tv speakers. Where to begin... In the store, the pacific kitchens two wrote down a "direct line" for me to call with any issues. The number didn't exist. The delivery people were incompetent at best, and that's giving them a lot of credit. We bought a $4,000 fridge, and these guys the it on a dolly (with no pads or straps) and proceeded to damage my front door and wood finished stairs in my home. During this process, they lasted the fridge on its side multiple times. You cannot lay a fridge on its side, that's day one stuff. They damaged the fridge when they slammed into my door, so we were unable to keep the new fridge we were eagerly waiting for, and a replacement Woodbridge be available for 4 months. Which is a little irrelevant seeing as I would never allow that kind of idiocy in my home again (I wasn't home during the attempted delivery, my wife shared all the details with me over the phone). These delivery folks didn't even bring a tape measure to measure doorways etc. Then they attempted to keep ours as they were leaving. After spending over 3.5 hours on the phone, since the "direct line" was a phantom number, Thanks Taylor, I was finally able to cancel my order and get my money refunded. There are more deals of the incompetence, but I think I've made my point. My money will be spent elsewhere, someplace that takes pride in their delivery and service. Best buy? Each box even has the names and makes of the printer the ink is compatible with right on the side of the box. I went to return a electronic device that has not been opened. I have done so once before. I did not have a receipt because it was a house warming gift. This location told me they changed there policy last year (there location on the website states that they will take a retire without a receipt for store credit.). They wanted my moms phone number and credit card info. She since past away a few weeks ago so of course I couldn't provide them with her credit card info and she has a home phone and did not use a cell phone. They refused the refund. I took the item to a different Best Buy and they offered me store credit, cash back or to put the money into a Best Buy card. If I could give 0 or negative I would. This is more for the Magnolia section of Best Buy. We just bought a house that had a projector and screen left behind, so I went in for an AV receiver with little knowledge about these things. Upon asking about the models on the floor, I was immediately referred to Justin in Magnolia. He came out and the first thing he said was all the models on the floor are "pieces of crap." Without really asking me what I was needing or looking for, he brought me back to Magnolia to show me the higher end stuff. He first showed me super-duper high-end speakers that were $25,000 per pair. I'm not sure if he was trying to impress me or what. I wasn't. You guys have really expensive speakers - cool. Nevertheless, he said he wasn't pitching those to me but just wanted to show me the possibilities. He then brought us (I was with my wife, mom, and dad) into the sample room with all the high-end (well, higher-end than on the floor) receivers, speakers, and subs. He showed me an array of speakers ranging in price from about $1600 per pair to about $2400 per pair (Martin Logan 60, 40, etc...). He then went on to tell me I needed a center speaker, sub, and receiver. During the displaying of the audio, he kept telling me to listen for the intricacies and nuances of these speakers. How the pick hits the guitar strings of the Norah Jones he was playing. How the singer is front and center stage when you listen. I explained I really just wanted to watch football with the boys on this projector. I didn't need to be blown away by insane home audio, as cool as it is. I wanted something adequate, perhaps a step up from a soundbar. He said to get anything good I would have to spend a minimum of 3k and up to 7k all in. That apparently did not include, and I quote, "$800 for an all-day installation, $400 for half-day installation because AV receivers are the most complicated pieces of technology we have in the store." I was overwhelmed so we decided to think about it. He urged us to take an inhome consultation, so I agreed. It was confirmed for about 6 days from the day we were in the store. After much thought, I decided to cancel the appointment and instead go into the store to see him again and explain that with all the expenses that come with a new house, I was not prepared to spend 5, 6, or 7k on home audio. He immediately turned sour and uninterested. After telling him we were looking to maybe spend about $2,000, he basically laughed and said, again and I quote, "I can't get you into anything for $2,000 or less." He continued trying to sell us the higher priced stuff trying to compare home audio to a car and using salesman pitches like "you get what you pay for," "it's an investment," and "you'll have this stuff for 30 years." Also kept selling me on the 24-month interest-free financing. As if that's supposed to soften the blow of spending $7,000 on speakers. When I asked him about cheaper alternatives he had every reason not to do it including needing extensive wiring. After explaining we were already wired and ready to go, he urged us to again take an in-home consultation so he could see what we had and he could make recommendations based on what we were wired for. This was again confirmed for 6 days later at 3:00 pm. He ended up calling me at 3:15 pm asking me to reschedule. No reason was given, just that he couldn't make it. That day, I went online to Crutchfield, told them my needs and what I wanted to spend, and in literally 10 minutes a chat rep had recommendations that came in at around $1700 all in. All stuff that had really good reviews and from reputable companies. I also told them about my best buy experience and they said they hear that all the time and based on what i'm looking for Martin Logan 60s, which Justin was pushing on me HARD, saying how they were $800 better than the 40s and yada yada yada, would be extreme overkill. Do yourself a favor and go to a place like crutchfield. they won't make you feel dumb for not wanting to spend insane money on unnecessary audio. read more

I purchased a Jenn-Air cooktop from Best Buy, Minnetonka Store including installation. Best Buy sent out Lake City Mechanical to do the install. After they blew the breaker, I found out that neither Best Buy nor the installer are authorized by Jenn Air and neither is qualified for the electrical work required to install a cooktop. Best Buy and Lake City Mechanical told me to get an electrician to repair the blown breaker but neither will reimburse me for the cost. From the electrician's report "replaced box / reworked conducts properly. Found previous technician shorted out SER cable by improperly wiring flex with remix connection on hot conductor / pinched fitting." Installation was May 8th and have made multiple requests for reimbursement. read more

I do character creation and environmental art & we upgrade yearly at least and when I need to check out what's available they help me find what I need/want and will print out info I need to turn in to have my boss do the buy for me... even when they're in Cali & I back in MN.
