When I was having my Honda smogged, it turned out that the universal catalytic converter installed in my car years prior was not the correct part number for it. Previous smogs passed because those shops weren't thorough with their visual inspection, but that's unrelated here, except that I needed a new one. I called up Best Muffler, letting him know I needed a replacement cat. I also had a part number from the smog shop and he confirmed he had it in shop. He gave me a fair quote over the phone so I asked how soon he could take care of me and he said he would be free within the hour. After looking around La Crescenta for a quality local muffler shop, I found Eli at Best Muffler with great 5-star ratings. Having just spent $600 on a high end Apexi WS2 cat-back exhaust system for my 1993 Honda Civic, which I installed my self, I noticed the exhaust hung a lot lower than the stock exhaust. Because of this, I was always scraping it on speed bumps and steep driveways. I would cringe every time, who wants to damage something the just spent good money on? This is a defect on Apexi's part, because by the resonator instead of having two hangers (one on each side) to center the piping in the tunnel, they only placed one. Because of this, the exhaust hung low, and had a lot of play. After I explained all of this to Eli, he knew exactly what needed to be done. He is a true craftsman, added an additional hanger, shaped and welded it in no time. That in addition to two new rubber hangers, the exhaust is now properly hung, and tight up against the tunnel, without any rubbing or contact with the underbody. Zareh did a great job on my 2013 Fiat 500 turbo. I came in early on Saturday morning and asked for a muffler delete. He didn't hesitate or roll his eyes like I was expecting. Instead he quoted me a fair price, showed me a few exhaust tips and went straight to work. After making some small talk and sawing off my muffler he showed me each tip and I went with the larger one. About 15-20 minutes later everything was completely finished and solidly welded. You could really tell he knew what he was doing and the constant measuring and cutting showed his true perfectionism. I was looking for highly rated muffler places near where I work and this place was one of the few that showed up. I drove here on my lunch brake. Eli was working on a car but quickly told me he'd be right with me. After a few minutes he finished and we waited for the guy to come and inspect his work and pick up his car. Eli was a pleasure. We spoke for a little while we waited. After the guy came to pick up his car, he had mine up in no time. He inspected my muffler - the exhaust pipe had rusted completely through. I was expecting the worst but Eli gave me a good price and said he could have it done within the hour! Honest, Humble and Highly qualified. Long story short.....I moved to USA recently and got my DL, I need to practice driving on an old car first before buying new one. RIP OFF!!! ....WRONG PARTS INSTALLED!!! Ask if he has the Dynomax Super Turbo that FITS my Jeep Cherokee, & he said yes. Instead it turned out that he installed a CHEAPER VERSION than the one I've told him I've seen on the Internet & worst Dynomax website said it wont fit or NOT COMPATIBLE PART MODEL for my Jeep Cherokee! BTW he tried to pass on me a knock off version of Magnaflow beforehand that I refused! Came back following day to say what I found & just said he is in the business for 18 years & installed the same on Jeeps with no problem whatsoever. Well he should have KNOWN BETTER being the expert that its not the right model number for my Jeep!!! Unless he wants to wipe out his inventories! OVERCHARGE me $130.00 for the 15-20 minute job & muffler!!! Here are the reasonable rates I've found: Dynomax Super Turbo 17731 ($35.00 - $41.00) free shipping internet price, Labor ($20.00 - $30) in most shop! If he just just installed the compatible parts 17747 which is around $20.00 - $30.00 more than the one he installed then I could have given him a 3-4 Stars!!!
