I've had many landlords over the last ten years. Never have I experienced anything like Brent Hamner. What an unbelievably unprofessional, short tempered, antagonistic ass this guy is. He made unsolicited visits to the property (unannounced), fabricated stories about our car registration being expired and our dogs "barking aggressively" when he showed up without warning, and has a ridiculous lease contract that requires an unusual amount of personal information. More than all of this, the guy is just unbelievably unpleasant. Most of the residents where I lived were not on speaking terms with him. I was warned that he'd, "threaten to evict you eventually, but don't take him seriously, he's done that to everybody." After fifteen years of managing the place where I live, the best real estate management group was finally fired this month. It took a signed petition from all of the tenants to get it done. I can't tell you how relieved I am that the harassment and made up accusations will come to an end. If you want your tenants to respect you and your property, and if you want to show them respect in return, don't hire this guy. read more

As a tenant, and admittedly a good one, I had a horrible experience when I got my security deposit back, only to find out that I have been charged an outrageous amount of $$$ for cleaning and normal wear and tear. I have had many landlords before with management companies and I am a clean person. I got only 20% of my deposit back. Tenants beware. This is how this management company operates. :( read more

Until I had the mis pleasure of speaking to Brent Hamner, I used to think timeshare, used car salespeople and repo agents were the Bottom Feeders of the business world. What a scumbag...... He actually told us to write a bad review about him so I guess he gets his jollies by seeing poor reviews. He will no dies a final walk thru with renter on day they leave because he wants to wait 3-4 days after so he can claim fault (which there seldom is) He then gets his mates to do cleaning, repairing (that needs not be done) charging you a high price (no invoice) pay the cleaners and pockets balance. Insist on a walk thru before you hand over keys... While I wish no harm or bad luck to this creep, I have no control over Karma. And Mr Hamner, you have a large dose of negative karma coming. In a way, I kind of feel sorry for you. You must be a very, very unhappy person and live a troubled life. read more

They are a horrible company I never heard back from them, they took over the property about half way through the lease and they have said different things like you haven't paid your deposit (we did), they never came and mowed the lawn and when asked to fix the sink or toilet multiple times they never came. Half of The toe kick heaters don't work or make an awful smell/noise when you turn them on, best real estate I will never rent from you again, I think you are a bunch of crooks and 2332 happy ct is a terrible property. read more

WORST management company EVER!! If you are looking for someone to manage your properties go somewhere else! They do not care about you or giving good service. We had to email a condo questionnaire 4 times and they claimed the never received it. This lead to me having to hand deliver it, once I delivered it I asked if it could be rushed as we were trying to get it for a week and I was told "I'll do my best". When you pay $70 for a questionnaire to be filled out I would expect some level of service. Save yourself and/or your tenants the headache.... read more

My wife and I just moved out of a house rental from Best Real Estate Management. We were there for over 8 years. We dealt with Bret from their office and had a great experience from the first day we signed our lease. Over the years we had great treatment by their office staff. Usually when you deal with larger real estate management companies there is no personal element. The experience we had with these guys was very pleasant and always felt like we were dealing with local owners. One time after we got home with our new baby, the hot water heater had an issue and was leaking water and we were very tired after returning from the hospital. My wife called it in and they sent someone out very promptly. We were very thankful! Thanks Bret and to the staff at Best Real Estate Management, we appreciated having you as a landlord. read more

I've lived in an apartment managed by Best for a couple years. They definitely aren't known to be hospitable, but I'm the type of person that is okay with that. Brent is short on the phone. Very short. But everyone else in the office is friendly. My rental price is very reasonable, and my experience has been no-nonsense. I always pay on time and I'm sure that helps. I had an urgent repair, and it was dealt with in a timely manner. The outside of the property is well taken care of for the most part, though I do change the lights outside doors and in the laundry room on my own since it doesn't get done. I have one big complaint. The parking lot is constantly full and I often have to park on the street. There has been multiple abandoned vehicles that I feel management should have removed long ago. Instead management places a notice on the vehicles but fails to take action. I suspect neighbors from nearby apartment buildings are also using our private spaces, but management is not willing to provide parking passes. I think this is a mistake. It would make my day a lot easier if I had a place to park when I got home instead of walking past abandoned cars with flat tires, expired tabs, and peeling paint. It attracts the wrong kind of attention to our neighborhood. If parking issues were resolved and Brent was a bit more approachable, I would leave a 5 star review. read more

Just want to thank the Mgmt and staff in the office. We had our fridge go out over the weekend and they got a repairman our first thing Monday morning. I understand that last minute weekend calls are an extra charge and I'd wait until Monday myself. It was repaired quickly by a professional (Rich) and back in service so life could get back to normal. Thanks again! read more

I've used this company for over five years to rent my home in Bellingham. Bottom line I was never treated like a valued customer by the owner Brent Hamner. He is unresponsive and cost our family thousands by his poor service towards the end of our contract. To make matters worse the owner is rude, disrespectful and condescending. On a few occasions he even went so far as to yell at me on the phone when asked for additional information about a property matter. The business owner Brent Hamner has lost sight of the fact that he's in business because of his customers. This has got to be the absolute worst business we have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. They are completely unprofessional, at best incompetent and at worst absolutely a complete rip off! We have dealt with these people for over 4 years as we watched them "Manage" our condo unit. Which meant that they charged their fees and did the possible least amount of work. The "work men" that were hired to do the absolute minimum amount of work at the condo were literally just a random guy with a truck. Probably hired off Craigslist. These jokers did the complete minimum they could. In fact in the 4 years we have lived here we have seen these condos fall into complete disrepair and neither the condo board or these jerks have done anything about it. In fact the condo board pays themselves from the collected fees and come and partially done the majority of the jobs needed done. All without any of the proper permits from the city or even the proper servicemen to actually do the job correctly. Including electrical work!!!! So these guys are paid by the condo board who then in turn pay the individual members of the condo board for jobs NOT DONE OR NOT DONE RIGHT! So it is literally just a big cycle of these idiots paying themselves and the condo board for jobs not done. They have literally found the perfect way to simply put money into their own pockets with ZERO out put of what that money is supposed to be spent on. That should tell you what kind of business these people run. Avoid them at all costs!!! read more

Naming this business "Best Property Management" is so sad that it's funny. They "managed" a duplex for us. We fired them last January. I have great sympathy for the renters who have posted their stories here. Hamner and company were as inept and impotent with and for us as for them. Very sad. I've been very happy with Best Real Estate Management. They are extremely competitive, and run by the book, almost to a fault. Judy and Brent work very hard, and I appreciate that they get the job done. Would have been 5 stars if they were a little more high tech, but other than that, they do an excellent job. Best Real Estate Management responded to our request for a plumber on a timely manner. They always answer our calls, and are as helpful as they can be. Also, the review "Dalton R." gave is ridiculous. He hasn't paid his rent in months, and left the property, so he could try to escape what he owes the management company. Thanks to him, his roommates (us) get to lose their home in the middle of the winter with nowhere to go. The Management company was very understanding, and is giving us an extension to figure something out instead of booting us out in 3 days. We appreciate that. Most companies probably wouldn't have been as nice. read more

Having been in the Real Estate business for over 25 years I know first hand how a property management company should operate. Best Real Estate Management are a perfect example of how not to do that business. This company led by Brent Hamner are completely inept when it comes to property management and customer service. If you own Real Estate and are looking for a company to manage it, steer as far clear of this group as you can or you will regret the day you called them. If you are looking to rent a property and Best Management are the property managers of that unit, walk away or you will spend the duration of that tenancy being mistreated, overcharged and bullied.
