*The hotel is no longer a Best Western Hotel - they are simply called The Brighton Hotel
We had the worst experience - lodging, dining, attractions, etc - in memory. After an early morning and a long drive, our family of five arrived to find that one of the two rooms we booked - a king and a triple - was not cleaned. Not in the sense that a towel was left out or bed unmade, but as soon as the door opened, we were smacked in the face with a revolting stench. The bed looked filthy, and dirty dishes were strewn about the table.
We dragged our bags up and down the narrow staircases then down the lift back to the reception to find another room. After about 25 minutes, we found that the king room was fine, but the only substitution for the triple was a single room and a double. The catch was that the double was in the basement. Furthermore, upon closer inspection, the single was hot and humid with no way to adjust the temperature or air circulation. For his part, the hotel receptionist did his part and called three neighboring hotels in search of an available room. However, while addressing our issue and before offering our substitute rooms, another couple walked in, and he checked them into a double room that wasn't in the basement!
The entire evening was miserable and headache-inducing. I was later contacted by management, but I thought it was important to share our experience. read more
