For the price point, this hotel (motel) impressed me. Room was extremely clean with fridge and microwave. Indoor pool and hot tub (we didn't use either) was open as posted and looked welcoming. Fitness room was TINY, but I was able to get my steps in on the treadmill. Breakfast was 2.5/5. No meats, egg and cheese omelettes were my favorite but my wife did not prefer the velveeta. Definitely an option next time we are thru Dumas. read more

We stayed here for the pool & hot tub. We were informed checking in the heater was broken in the hot tub . Out door corridors- we didn't realize that. Room ac worked well & room was clean. Free breakfast was boiled eggs, sausage, yogurt, Texas make your own waffles, cereal, muffins, honey buns, fruit, oatmeal, & coffee. Juice machine was warm. Creamer was bad-clumps! Breakfast area was warm & dim lighting. Tables were not clean. The pool area looks great too bad it wasn't heated. read more

Read all the reviews before booking here! The rooms are all accessed from outside. We had to haul luggage up outside stairs, no downstair rooms available. Be aware if you have any health needs, there is no elevator. Sits off the main highway. The room was POORLY insulated and we could hear all the traffic notice ALL night long. We walked into the room and it smelled like some cheap rose smelling perfume. The bathroom floor needed to be swept, the toilet had nasty ring and the bed felt like it was worn out. Maintenance in room was lacking. The satellite hadn't been updated so the TV didn't work. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. We also were not offered our "free water" for our "status level" with Best Western. read more

This was probably the worst stay I have ever had at a hotel. The carpet had white powder throughout the room (told it was their powder disinfectant that should have been vacuumed up), the carpet was filthy, the shower spray did not work, and the room phone had no dial tone. Every time that I needed to call the front desk, I had to use my cell phone and call the main line. Went to bed at 9:00 pm. Around 9:30 pm, the men next door decided to have a party outside their door and next to mine. They played loud music, talked and laughed loudly, and had no regard for people trying to sleep. After about two hours, I called the front desk to have the noise stopped. 20 minutes later, I called the front desk again and suggested that she call the police for the men violating the noise ordinance law. Around 12:00 midnight the music stopped and around 12:30 am, they men went to bed. I lost 3 hours of sleep. I asked the manager for a refund of my room given all the issues and his response was "You spent the night in a room and you should pay for it". He had no sympathy or compassion for what I went through. I will NEVER stay here gain. read more

The staff is very kind and knowledgeable. The room smelled fine & looked clean but it was unsightly to find body hairs in the shower. Also, although the sheets are smooth & soft, the mattress seemed to be harder than at other locations. If the shower incident hadn't occurred, I'd most likely have rated at a three star. read more

It's five stars for the price. Updated decor, courteous and competent staff, well-maintained breakfast. Workout room has a very nice treadmill, a stairclimber, an elliptical, and free weights. Indoor pool is clean and well maintained. However it's a motel with exterior doors. Basic essentials and toiletries in the room. Not a luxury hotel of course. Exterior doors means it's easier for "nature" to enter as you enter and exit the room though. Management seems aware of this and asks that guests keep the doors to the rooms closed as much as possible, a logical request. They attached the note to a goodie bag of bottles waters and snacks, a nice touch. Overall, we felt very comfortable, safe, and welcomed. Good exterior lighting and easy access to 287. We don't normally stop in Dumas as we like to make it closer to home when on the road but we were travelling with my father in law who is very particular about using Best Westerns. I have stayed in Best Westerns before and most are better than this location. We had a room facing the outside and considering it was summer it was quite hot and uncomfortable near the door. However, the room was a good size, there were 2 queen size beds and the ac worked. It also has the ammenities you expect at every Best Western but not available at every hotel such as tv, microwave, fridge, etc. My biggest complaint was the bugs. I am easily eeked out by them even though I can squash them. The summer may have had something to do with it but they were crawling in giant lines along the parking lot very close to the doors and at one point I was reading in bed and one was crawling from the wall onto the bed spread. I'm not sure what kind they were, they were small and seemed like some sort of beetle roach hybrid. Frankly I wasn't curious enough to get closer. This seems to be a problem in the area and not entirely the fault of the hotel. The hotel also had a large dining area but we were famished and had the bar next door deliver directly to our room. The steak was fabulous and improved my mood and my husband's nachos had jalepenos that were too hot for him- a feat in itself, bravo! I don't plan to return but in the event that I was stuck in Dumas, TX again I would consider it, especially if the weather was colder because really, the only thing that bothered me was the bugs which were mostly outside and you got to be fair. read more

We've stayed in this hotel a few times. I was up almost all night composing this review in my head, since I couldn't sleep in my hotel room. PROS: It is one of the only hotels in Dumas that accepts big dogs, although they charge an extra $10/night for a dog and tack on a $20 refundable deposit. The room was extremely clean- kudos to the cleaning crew! The front desk person was friendly and quick to get me in and out. She deducted the deposit from my bill without even having seen the room, which I appreciate considering how clean my dog is. CONS: Uncomfortable bed. Not level, so I constantly felt like I was falling out of it. Also very soft, so I woke up with a backache and neckache. Uncomfortable pillows- too squishy. The room was LOUD. Not their fault that they're on a busy street, but I could hear every car that drove by. A little more soundproofing would be nice. Shabby bathroom. Looked okay at first glance, but the texturing on the ceiling and walls was peeling off and revealing the lovely green texture underneath. Breakfast buffet was very small and not fresh. Muffins and danish that did not look fresh. No yogurt. The juice machine was not working properly- just squirted out concentrate. I'm guessing many people noticed this because the trash can was full of full juice cups. I didn't bother to bring this to anyone's attention- I just wanted to get on the road! For $90 a night, I would not stay here again. Try the LaQuinta across the street if you're travelling with furry friends. read more

The front desk staff are not trained to operate the computer system. Trying to get a proper receipt from them is liking pulling teeth. The manager is never around to assist. I have been waiting now for 4 days to have a receipt emailed to me. It is absolutely pathetic for staff to not be properly trained. If the manager does not trust them enough to operate the computer, then the manager should stay there and be available at all times. I travel constantly with my job, and have never come across such incompetence. read more

The room with the pool had a fire detector chirping in addition to another alarm going off, God knows what it was,even more frequent than the fire alarm. Checked into this hotel and everything seemed okay. Woke up the next day itching. As the day went on I got welts all over my arms. My arm swelled up so I went to the hospital. It was cellulitis caused by bed bugs! Upon returning to my room the next day I inspected and sure enough, a room full of bed bugs. They were behind the headboards big time! read more

After a long and stressful drive I just wanted to make it to my hotel and relax. Unfortunately I was unable to because my room was full of flies and other bugs. Not sure why a hotel of this price and in this location would have outside doors but there are bugs everywhere. Did not want to sit on or touch any surface, so gross. Would have eaten the $100+ cost of my room and gone elsewhere if I hadn't just driven 6 hrs and been so exhausted. I've stayed in all kinds of hotels and motels of lesser "quality" before and I've never been this disgusted. read more

Checked in and asked for 1st floor, but no had to be on. 2nd floor, no elevator, knees now hurting, first thing wanted was shower, only 1 soap and small shampoo for 3 adults, had to ask for towels, son wanted to swim and that was a biggie only one around with indoor pool, but it was not open, flies in room, door has to be literally slammed to close . Was not lowest price in town but compares to lowest , not even sure what to expect for breakfast although hoping it will make up for the evening. read more

you have to access your hotel room from the outside, which is common & I wouldn't mind, if the doors closed properly. you literally have to SLAM the door shut, and even then the door won't close completely. this is the same for several rooms. the shower heads are also SO short! they have it where you can adjust the height, but that feature is broken & the shower head fell back to its height. I'm only 5'2 and i had to squat to wash my hair after swimming! (note: the pool closes at 10, which is quite early for spring break) also, there is no elevator. which is frustrating when you have a lot of heavy luggage & there's a thunder storm outside. since all the hotel room leads directly to the outside, we had to walk in the freezing rain to get to our hotel room. (I know it doesn't always rain, but this is Texas, there's going to be a lot of extreme crazy weather!) so yes, the place is clean & cosy, but the door situation & the lack of an elevator is the reason why I wouldn't recommend it as a place to stay. read more
