If I could leave no star! I am disappointed in the service I received in my recent move. I have never dealt with this kind of horrible customer service and moving company in my life. The moving company didnt show up the original date. I had to wait the next day. I have spoke with "Alex" 7134263222 several times trying to resolve issues that occurred during the move. My pottery barn sectional was stained, my stainless steel refrigerator is scratched and dented. I was over charged for labor. I was told I had to pay before the move was over because the office was closed and if I didn't pay. "Alex" was going to stop the movers and take my belongings that were still in the truck. I went with a more expensive moving company expecting a better experience than I did. I immediately contacted Alex via phone to tell him about my damages and overcharges now he is not accepting responsibility nor reimbursing me for the overcharged labor or any damages. He is trying to say my sectional was "stained" not damaged. Hmm that is damaged. And what about my brand new refrigerator it looks now like I bought it at a dent and scratch. Most importantly how are you not going to reimburse someone after you admittedly overcharged them? BE WARE ANY ONE THAT USES THIS COMPANY IT IS NOT SAFE OR PROFESSIONAL. I think he was trying and did take advantage of me because I'm a tiny little woman. I wish I would have saw the yelp review already filing a complaint with the same issues I had, before I used them. I did google review. I would just like to pay for the actual labor I received and get my Reimbursed overcharges back. I have left this review before but want to keep it active so people are aware of SCAM and to look at other people's reviews in google and yelp that pretty much had the same type of experience if he uses different company names I would google search his number just to be on the safe side. This is a long review. It is honest and fair. I am writing it let people know how bad a moving company can be, or at least from my perspective. I hired this company based off their rate and nothing more. This was my first mistake. I should have read more into the reviews and dug into the company with the BBB and such. I wanted them to move my mother's thing into a storage room, as she was moving out to another home at a later time. I told them how many rooms, and told them I needed it all packed in boxes and plastic wrapped. I was quoted around $1,200.00 for it all. I thought that was a very good price due them not even seeing how much. We budgeted that money, and were ready to go. Well, I will stop there. I will let you read the email I sent to owner (Santos) and the sales rep (Alex) asked for some type of reimbursement for all poor work they did. - Start of Email- Dear Alex, Thank you again for trying to help us resolve all the issues we had with your company. We know that you guys want to make it right and have a good image for years to come. Please allow me to give you the list of all the issues we have had with the moving team you sent us, and at the end we will let you know what we would like to ask of you to make it right. Pictures will be attached. 1) I asked Alex for their best team and gave them over a week notice. This did not happen. The lead driver was 18 years, other was 16, and the guy that did not speak English was 47. It made it very difficult to communicate with them when asking them questions. 2) We requested the moving team to show up between 8-9am.. They showed up at 9:30am due to flat tires ... But was called at 9:05am about being 20 min late. 3) 40% of the time the other two stood around while the 18 year old did the wrapping for the items to be moved. He was sweating all over our stuff while he was using his body to hold things in place while he solo wrapped our belongings. 4) No mask or gloves at all while on site. No offer to wear any too. 5) They had no idea how to move mattresses. Mattress was bent in half when moving it. 6) Layed bed frame in against windows and blinds, damaging blinds and scratching windows in home. 7) One of them was on their phone watching YouTube while the others worked. 8) They had no care on how they handled our stuff until I complained to Alex about this. 9) We were charged 10.00 for each USED, dirty, and damaged moving blanket. 10) The 16 year old over used packing supplies... Used our rolls of tape too. 11) We paid for mattress bags as our beds would be moved to storage. They damaged the bags by putting holes in them. The response is we need to make holes in them in order to move them. They laughed at me when I told them "what's the point of it being a mattress bag if there is holes in them" 12) This may be standard, but they charge you 65.00 to come to your location to start. And change you 95.00 to clean their truck out (even if it was only 30% full... All boxed and sealed) We are requesting a refund off all packing materials and two hour refund of labor for a total of no less than $500.00 Please let us know how you would like to proceed. - End- The company did not offer to do anything about it. Santos said they would have our insurance company look into. Nothing was ever done. We even tried to dispute it with our credit card company, and they pushed their eligible contract back at us. I'm just happy to report that despite the stress and anxiety of not knowing if I could move out of my current home, if I even had access to my new place, if the staff could safely travel, if the roads were open - the list goes on - Alex, the owner kept me posted throughout the process. Thankfully, Best Rate made it happen - just in time for my former ass hole landlord not lose his shit because I couldn't vacate his property during the storm. Or the floods. I know, karma will likely visit him. The crew of 3 arrived on time and were ready to work. They don't have any hidden fees. The quoted rate included almost everything - except the plastic wrap. I was incredibly disappointed in this company. After being recommended by 2 friends I expected for this experience to be seamless and worth recommending further. They did not send regular staff employees, rather 3 recent high school graduates, who were incredibly slow and unskilled at professional moving. It took 7 hours to move what should have taken no more than 4 for items in storage into a home 45 min away. They were 2 hours late with no update until I called after an hour after the scheduled start time They attempted to scam me by adding on an extra "cash only fee" due to covid19 prevention disinfection Due to negligence my vehicle was damaged by unattended furniture, and they were unwilling to compensate. I have obtained the video footage from the storage facility and have already contacted a lawyer regarding filing a lawsuit. Lastly, they refused to start unloading my items at my destination unless I paid for 10 hours. Stating their new policy is payment upon delivery, which was never agreed upon nor did I see in writing. They broke several of my items and I would not EVER use this company again. A good friend referred me this company. I scheduled 2 weeks out. Alex sound so professional and acted with a sense of urgency. Unfortunately., his team wasn't the same. I wanted to get done moving earlier so i ask for 3 men instead of 2. Alex agreed. We agreed to start Move at 10am. I got a call from Alex saying staff was running late. That was no problem. Once they arrived only 2 guys were packing (very slow, moving boxes) . I ask the other two guys, where was the third guy, they replied saying that they didn't know. Guy comes back 24 minutes later with attitude. I called Alex and told him that i paid for 3 guys not two. He asked me to calm down. I knew it was trouble then. They took 11:15-2:10 PM to move a 1 bedroom apartment. Finally we head to my destination. My gps estimate time was 28 minute to new location. THE TOOK almost an hour to get to my place. I had to call Alex! Not to mention they took forever and there were elevator in close Proximity. They were very slow. Then i went out front to see what was taken so long. I got a video clip of the guy throwing my mattress around and taking a break! Finally, the come back with Mattress. They forgot to out my slacks in my bed now its wobbling. And not to mention my mattress is ripped on the inside. Took over 5 hours for my move and they charged me 690.00. When i confronted him, he told me it should be more for a 1 bedroom apartment. Affordable, quick, professional hoisting service for heavy 12' shuffleboard over 3rd floor balcony. This table had to be lifted over 40' over the 3rd floor balcony from the outside. I was worried I had to rent some heavy equipment. I contacted most moving companies in Houston for hoisting my 250lb shuffleboard table with no luck. Used Best Rate recently because I thought they had the "best rate". They charge by the hour and I've moved several times with no problem using other companies, and had an idea of how long it should take a three men moving crew to move my belongings based on previous experience. They charge by the hour and I figured it would take them 3 hours tops. Well it was more like a two man moving crew. Only two of the three knew what they were doing, but they all seemed to struggle here and there. They were too slow and there was not enough pep in their step if you ask me. They did not work efficiently. When I kept seeing one guy on his phone for prolonged periods of time watching the two other men work, I finally had to speak up. It does not take three men to reattach refrigerator doors. Not when there were still beds that needed to be put together. I even unloaded my own mattresses from the truck because I was frustrated with how slow they were moving. The move took nearly twice as long as my previous moves with other companies. It put me over budget and I couldn't even afford to tip them....and I always tip movers. I will not use this company again. read more

I found this company here on Yelp. After receiving astronomical quotes from other companies, I decided on Best Rate. Because I really only had an hour and a half worth of work, and everyone wanted 3 hrs of pay. Yeah, I don't get paid for work not done, so I don't believe you should either. The Owner/Manager's name is Alex, he has an accent. This is how you will know you are talking to the correct Alex (see next paragraph), 832 number. I strongly believe some of the reviews here are for a different company. I say this because I had a man called "Alex" call me with quotes from at least three different companies. Yes, I am sure it was the same person, same voice, same phone number, speech pattern had no accent, 713 number. There was a bumpy start to move, but life doesn't happen perfectly, you just adapt. That and I was mad at myself for never using the Spanish I learned in school, because I was too shy....so it is like I never learned Spanish at all. The 4 phrases I know won't help me give directions, unless it is to a telephone or bathroom. Despite that, everything I needed to have done, was done as requested. Yes, we made the experience of working together, well...work. The truck they brought was way to large for my belongings, at least space in the truck wouldn't be an issue. There were 3 men as promised, and they moved everything out of my place in 45 minutes, that include disassembling the bed. The move into the storage unit was very difficult, because the elevator was out and my unit was on the 3rd floor. I was very upset about this, because I had been promised by the storage company the elevator would be working. That and because it was all stairwell walking I could not help them, this to me is embarrassing and frustrating. What should have only taken them 30 min took an hour. An hour of back breaking work, not one single word of complaint made to me or within earshot, these men were pouring sweat, but continued up each flight of stairs over and over, laughing, whistling and singing. I scheduled movers from 12-2pm, didn't see them so around 12:30 i called to ask what was going on and was told it would be closer to THREE because they got held up at another job.. i was furious, by3 i planned on being finished!!! Worst service ever! Please people DO NOT use this company. We hired them to move us from apartment to house. We had moved 60% of property ourselves. They only had to move furniture from 3 bedrooms and freezer and sofa. Then load items from storage. I feel like they spanned out the time to get more money. They were supposed to assemble and did not even assemble. 1 guy would stand around on truck and rest. One worker asked for a beer. They hardly spoke English so wasted more time trying to communicate. The men were nudging each other and looking at my daughters butt. Very unprofessional company. My husband contacted company and lady was super rude, no apology told him if he had common sense he should have used the company we used first time. They were not available. The Worst Experience I ever had with a Service Provider in my entire life! Don't use this company!!! They literally steal from you! I used them to move a small 1 bedroom apartment a town home 15 min away. They quoted me 2 hours for the move, what I thought reasonable since I barely had furniture, (one dinning table, one bed, one chest, a TV and some boxes). It took them 2 hours to load the truck because they were very slow but then before unloading they asked me to pay for 6 hours. I argued that it wouldn't take them that long but they said that they wouldn't unload the truck if I didn't make the payment and that I could trust that they would refund me if end up been less hours. They took their time to unload the truck even taking smoking breaks and having all the 3 guys to put my bed together. Additionally, During unloading they bumped the chest into the wall of my newbuild house and made a hole on the wall. They called a coworker who came over to "fix" the hole but the damage was done and the wall still looking really badly damaged. On top of that they also scratched other walls as well. The entire situation including the "fixing" the wall that was not fixed, took them 5 hours so they would still need to refund me for the extra hour so I called multiple times and they said they were going to refund me but they never did! By far this has been the worst move I've ever made. The movers are very unprofessional past the introduction. They smoked weed and casually moved my things and comfortable enough to get the drinks my husband offered them out of the freezer. They did assist in packing some things but they were to be there between 1 and 2, didn't make it until 5:30 although Alex did call to inform me that that would make it between 4 & 5(he asked if I wanted a third guy to speed up the process at a lower rate to which I agreed...no speed), that might be on me since I work nights and knew I wouldn't be prepared for the 9am move that I rescheduled. I made statements multiple times after checking the time that they were trying to get all of my money with this move. The boss of the three asked what floor I was moving to and I asked had he not read the order and told him the 3rd. He then tells me it's going to be more. Everything is loaded and he says he needs to be paid $1000 before we leave, my husband says hell no. Jr then brings up his calculator on his phone and say $835, he calls his boss who in turn calls me. I tell Alex that he told me that the 3rd floor is more, Alex calls him and tells him this is the second person that said that and he then states what he told me after the truck was loaded and not what he stated in the house regarding the 3rd floor. Alex then tells me I misunderstood what he was saying. Sir, I fully understand everything I hear because I listen, I know what he said inside my apartment and my memory is impeccable. Alex tells me to send him a pic of the truck and he would be able to tell me if the job is an 8hr job, after he asks is it full. It's a 28ft truck that is not even a fourth full. Determine my cost. It's now 11:18 and I should have been at work at 9pm and they're still unloading. They can't get my sectional through the door either so it's sitting outside for now. read more

I have moved 3 times already and this last one with "Best Rate Moving" was the worst experience ever. My estimate was $255 the first two hours and then $95 per extra hour. I was never told there were hidden fees for materials like wrapping plastic which other companies include for free. Here we go... 9:00 AM - Moving supposed to start and nobody has arrived yet. 9:30 AM - I received a phone call saying they will arrive at 10:00 am. 10:20 AM - Movers arrived on a really sketchy Budget Truck not even identified with company logo or any information. Out of 3 movers, only one of them (Alex) was clear about what to do... the other two (Albert & Gerardo) needed to get directions all the time which made the progress way too slow. They had the willingness to work but no experience. 2:00 PM - After almost 4 hours things are on the truck. I curiously asked "Do you know how long will it take for you guys to get things out of the truck" Answer was "Getting things out of the truck is always faster". We are about to head to our new destination. 2:20 PM - We arrived to our new home (note they haven't started getting things out of the truck) Alex showed me some papers with the full balance of $855 ($255 first two hours, $95 x 6 hours, $60 plastic) calculated based on the hours it would take them get the things out of the truck. I asked "How do you know how long is this going to take?" Answer was "It is the same time it took to get things on the truck" If you are reading this carefully you know they said before that it would be faster right... Well, Alex immediately asked me to pay right away in CASH even before they even started moving anything down the truck. I refused to pay in CASH because on the website it clearly says they accept credit cards and nobody told me payment was in CASH. He just decided to step out of the moving and kept threatening us with stop the move right away. 2:45 PM - After 25 min arguing (really awkward and non professional discussion) Alex mysteriously decided to accept credit cards. I wasn't feeling comfortable paying 6 hours in advance so I told them I will pay at the end when we were sure how long it took for them to complete the job. Once again, Alex started threatening with taking our belongings to a warehouse if we didn't pay. Notice that I'm not refusing to pay... I want to pay with my credit card at the end of the job. Nothing out of normal right? 3:00 PM - After all that drama and being really worried about my wife getting really upset (she is almost 36 weeks pregnancy) I decided to negotiate with Alex. There was no way to do that... we did everything to get $855. I decided no to pay 6 hours because I was sure it wouldn't take them that long so I said 5 hours. Price automatically changed and it was again $855 ($255 first two hours, $95 x 5 hours, $60 plastic and a new extra fee of $65 came out of nowhere...) 4:20 They finish their job. So it took 5 hours to complete their job and I ended paying 6 hours so asked Alex to refund 1 hour since they didn't work that hour... I needed to almost grab his hand and make him sign the receipt with a refund note. We moved last Tuesday and I'm still waiting for my refund... Botton line, DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY, IT IS A WAIST OF MONEY AND TIME. Plus you will feel scammed by non professional people that will treat you and your belongings like crap. I'm giving this company 5 stars because they were very careful with my furniture and made sure everything was wrapped properly before moving. The only thing that was a small issue is they went over the time I had planned but due to it had been raining and wet I couldn't be upset. I'd rather the guys take time and move my things carefully. This company is disorganized, unhelpful, liars and the owners are extremely rude and condescending. Do not waste your time! I repeat, do not waste your time! When I first contacted best rate moving I asked and availability pricing via Yelp. Alex was quick to get me on the schedule and gave me all the information upfront. He did not send me any emails verifying the price or give me an option to add insurance. By law every moving company is supposed to give back $.60 per pound of items broken. And they also need to offer you insurance. The movers showed up almost 2 hours late but I did not mind because I was thankful they got there. With that being said they were in a rush and did not have me sign any paperwork. Moving the items took a little bit longer than expected and it ran late into the night. I was not told I needed to pay cash, but the driver that barely spoke English told me I needed to pay cash at 11pm. The banks aren't open and it was odd to me. The total was almost $500 and I did not have that on me. I asked to speak to the manager Alex, he was extremely rude to me and told me I needed to pay cash. Finally he agreed to let me pay on my card after 10 minutes of banter back-and-forth. The driver seemed very frustrated and gave me his number for future moves because he said he disliked working with this company. Basically best rate paid him part of the total for him to use his truck apparently. I do not think this was professional at all but every part of communication with this company was unprofessional except for the initial set up for the movers to come. On this move the movers moved heavy salon equipment into a storage unit for me. I told the guys several times to make sure the chairs were vertical because if you put them on the side they break. Hydraulic chairs cannot be put on the side. They locked the storage unit before I could look in it to make sure all the items were placed properly , I knew it was late and they were arguing amongst each other so it made me feel uncomfortable. I just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. A few days later I went to the storage unit to take some of the chairs out and to my surprise they were all placed on the side. Some of the chairs actually had cracks in the hydraulic base and there was hydraulic fluid all over all of my equipment. I immediately called Best rate movers and they told me to email a claim to Santos. (The owner.) Santos said I was making accusations and that they never broke my chairs because they were not "shattered" he said if things are shattered then that means they're broken. Which does not make any sense. How can a chair shatter? Santos even went to the extent to tell me I purposely broke the chairs. The law states if they break any items they need to pay for it. He did not want to file a claim for me or help me with this situation at all. I was trying to talk out the situation with him and he told me I was yelling at him on the phone which was absolutely unprofessional given the fact that I was very calm and just looking for a solution because $3000 of my equipment is broken. Now I am out thousands of dollars and this company is to blame. They never offered a solution and basically said "oh well we aren't taking the blame for it!" I had to go through an attorney just to get my claim filed. When attorney filed claim, I received two harassing phone calls. I have used this company 3 times in the past and usually they are really good. But they have a new moving crew and this year they were horrible. This move was one room apartment it took them 4 hrs. They showed up late, misplaced furniture spacers and screws, overcharged me for employees trying to find my lost items in their vehicle. While speaking with Alex he said I was holding his employees hostage and what is the big deal for the missing items just go to the store and replace it. He raised his voice and said he would call the police and hung up because I told him I would only pay for 3 hours. My boyfriend paid the full amount. The movers told me they only had 1 other move that afternoon. I think this is why they were going extremely slow. I was literally pushing all the boxes, bed and work out machine to the front door. The employees and Alex are extremely rude. They really need to work on customer service. An apology for a repeat customer goes a long way. It was a horrible experience. I used Best Rate Moving & Storage to move into my apartment back in January and it took them three hours and cost me $415. The same movers moving the same stuff into our house took seven hours and charged me $730. They broke glassware that was carefully packed, an antique rocking chair, and damaged an antique bar and scratched several walls. At some point they threw a jug of laundry detergent into an open box and got liquid detergent all over our scrapbooks and almost destroyed our wedding invitations. When I complained about all of this to Alex, the person who had give me a quote (for both moves) of $220.00, he basically called me a liar and suggested I had more furniture and boxes moving out than I did moving in. He refused to pay for any damage his men had done, because the boxes were not professionally packed. I get that, but the damage to my antiques? They professionally wrapped and moved those. When I threatened to give Best Rate Moving & Storage a bad review on every public facing website I could fine, Alex promised me that Costas (his manager?) would call. Overall my experience with Best Rate was fine - my stuff was moved from point A to point B and the amount I paid was somewhere in the middle of the pack for the quotes I received. The workers were on time and nothing was seriously broken. My complaints are that I was told that wardrobe boxes would be available for no extra charge and was told upon starting the move that they were not. Also, with about 30 min left of my move I was told they would only accept a cash payment. I wouldn't have minded this if I was told beforehand, but I ended up having to leave briefly to get some cash at an ATM. I've hired movers 3 times in the last 6 years and the previous movers I've worked with were quicker and more efficient than Best Rate. read more

My experience with Alex and his team was fantastic. They were the cheapest quote I got ($200 for 2 hours) and the service and speed at which they worked was impeccable. I have used this company for 3 of my last 4 moves & I have recommended their services to several of my friends and colleagues. Never again will that happen. The way our correspondence was handled on their end was the absolute worst I've ever encountered. My move was scheduled twice after Alex failed to put the first on the calendar. I called this morning to figure out why no one has called or showed for my move. I was told one of the trucks broke down. I don't believe for a second that one of the trucks broke down. At the very least, I should have received a phone call notifying me of any changes. I understand it's Father's Day, but if they didn't want to handle the move, that should have been stated from the onset. read more

Don't waste your time with these guys. They're terrible in communication. No show no call. Waited over 2 hours after my scheduled appointment time and then finally their office guy called me because I've left over so many voicemails and emails. His reason for the no show no call is because his movers got caught up in another move without notifying me. I emailed them the day before to get a confirmation for my appointment time. They didn't have the courtesy to call me on my appointment time to let me know they can't show up to my scheduled time. Wasted all day waiting for these guys to show but didn't have the audacity to let me know so I can schedule with a different company. read more

We had an agreement for movers to be here from 4-5 and the guys came over 2 hours late. We called Alex, the owner I assume, to negotiate a one hour rate but he refused. We only had until 8 to move into the new place and he refused to cut us a break. Alex insisted on a two hour minimum for a rushed one hour move. My boyfriend and I are highly upset and will not be recommending this business to anyone read more

Used these guys again on 11/21/14 and they did a great job again! I paid for 2 guys, but 3 showed up at no extra charge! They were done loading and unloading way before 2 hours and even helped me rearrange some stuff in my new place. It was actually 2 of the same guys who moved me the 1st time. Very friendly and careful with my belongings. I hope I'm not moving again any time soon, but I will definitely use these guys! read more
