Patty Coffin, and the firm, was the legal representative for an estate of a close friend in Indiana. Unfortunately she passed in Feb 2010, and the executor of the estate has asked the firm to probate the estate. It has now been a year and half into the probate process, and it seems like she's taking her sweet time. My boyfriend and I have assets tied up in the estate that has been left in limbo. We have now been calling her office for an answer for the last couple of months, in total of more than 10 telephone calls, she has yet responded to any of them. The executor called her office, she hasn't replied as well. Currently the executor is so embarrassed of the hold up that she had to apologize on this lousy lawyer's behalf. I know that law may take a while to work, but a year and half is ridiculous. Last we heard from her was October 2010, when we were told that the state is "processing the paperwork, and taking a while". It is now another 10 months, I doubt that the government is this incompetent. Of course, the lawyer is MIA and not responsive to any telephone calls and emails, I would like to see her blame the state for this one. If you want representation that's diligent, and communicative, you will want to avoid this one, unless you enjoy having to call everyday for an update and still get no response.

Throughout the process we consistently felt and observed a clear imbalance in how communication was handled between the parties. Based on our experience, the other (female) parent appeared to receive responses timely, while our messages or requests would go unanswered or if answered, would take extreme waits (weeks or months). We had ongoing issues regarding billing. Charges felt excessive, frequent, and if disputed would be dismissed rather than reconciled. The overall experience was truly traumatizing as our child was left in a very dangerous situation and this time was exacerbated due to the lack of communication and support from the parties who were paid to do so. I don't feel this situation was handled ethically correct or fair. Thankfully, with the help of our amazing attorney, we moved forward and reached the best resolution for our child and we obtained full custody. Sadly, this resolution took years and came at a signification financial and emotional hardship to our family. Overall, this is my personal experience, and it left an extremely negative impression. I would never work with him again. And correct I wasn't a client, I was the spouse of one and got the first row seat to this circus.

I don't exactly like thinking about this stuff... who does??... but she made the experience, uh, palatable! Her main focus and expertise is family law. The Zoom meeting with the attorney was informative and she answered all my questions. She explained things very simply but in detail. I was expecting to have her complete one document but based on her valid suggestions, I decided on less expensive but more effective documents. I am relieved that I've taken the right step to plan for my future and ensure things are handled easier for my child should something happen. About a week or two after I called, the assistant called me to arrange a time to review with Ms Lacy and sign the papers with a notary. The whole process was great and stress-free. The office staff is super friendly and family oriented. (I had originally done some thing else using free web resources years ag.. but Lacy reviewed my paperwork and explained why that wasn't going to hold up in court in Indiana. Oh well! ) The first appointment was easily scheduled via email. I was happy with her location near me, in Cumberland.

After the hearing she sat and chit chatted with opposing counsel like they were best friends. And don't get me started on physical appearance; it says a lot about one's discipline, organization and self control.
