Update 2020-2021: We…read moreloved primrose since 2017 but once the ownership changed and then with Covid, it's been a roller coaster with them. Having to pay tuition (which is already very high) when you kids have to quarantine didn't seem fair to me. Communication with the owner was difficult and we didn't seem to get any of our confusion or frustrations resolved. Now we are dealing with not being able to get our deposit back after our 2 year old daughter couldn't join because she will not keep a mask on. We have tried, there is nothing we can do and it doesn't seem fair to have this policy in place. My biggest grievance since the end of 2021 has been the new director... she is just flat out rude. She has absolutely no customer service etiquette. She is the face of this location and she's awful (sad to say). Her emails aren't professional, she doesn't include attachments or requested info, and sometimes she just doesn't reply until I copy the owner onto the email. She's doing a terrible disservice the the primrose name. The education and the teaching staff have always been great and our son has loved being there since he was 2.5 years old. We've done the summer camps as well which he enjoyed.

Our son's teacher used to teach at a Gifted and Talented school but she chose to come to Welchester this year and was absolutely amazing for her class. Not only did her class raise their test scores but they worked on STEM activities during class and raised money for a Friendship Bench for the school. My daughter's teacher was similarly excellent in the way she interacted with the students and they all adored her. The principal is exactly the type of principal you long for a school to have: Involved, knows every kid by name, will sit down to talk with a troubled child and get down on their level, and is not afraid to step into a difficult situation if necessary. She is fabulous and sets the tone for the entire school. As parents, my husband and I are thrilled to be a part of this school community and we totally recommend it.

About the missing item review, do you know the items parents bring are left in the child's cubby for the entire week? This was his first time being in a childcare setting and I wanted to make sure that not only did I trust that he would be cared for, but he would also be taught the fundamentals to give him a solid foundation in education. We were able to get it all at this school. My then 3 year old is now 5 and about to graduate from Kindergarten where he received one-on-one teaching and attention, which was tailored to where he is intellectually and emotionally. Now my 2 year old is there and making leaps and bounds developmentally with their curriculum and support. After graduating and moving into a first grade class at a Chery Creek Elementary school, we were told she needed to repeat kindergarten. Being first time parents, we didn't know what skills she was supposed to learn. Considering our child spent three years at this "school", we expected she would be advanced, when in reality, she didn't even meet grade standard. We had to spend extra time and money for a year to bring our child up to grade level so the school wouldn't hold her back. She didn't even learn the sounds of the alphabet after three years here! Once we knew she was suppose to have this skill by first grade, we taught her the sounds of the alphabet in two weeks. Still, her reading was behind the other kids and it took a full year to catch her up. After attending a graduation ceremony, we felt it would be detrimental to her self esteem if we held her back. When I told the owner, Lori and Director, Shawn, they didn't believe me. They said kids don't always show their parents what they really know. I had to demand they test her and when the owner did, she apologized because we were right. She offered to have one of their teachers work with our child, but since they couldn't get the job done in three years, we weren't wasting any more time here. We are involved parents. We attended their 5 day meetings about how Montessori teaches your children. We attended our parent/teacher conferences and when I voiced some concern over our child not being able to write her name, the teacher told me to "keep working with her". I wonder if the parents who are happy with this place are teaching their kids at home and it's not the "school" doing the teaching. After doing much research, we learned that this "school' typically didn't have the staff required by law for the number of students per adult. In addition, they clearly don't monitor the kids skill level. The education varies from class to class. Some kids are sent home with books to read, others are not. We now realize some of the "work" they gave us which we were told our child did, the teacher actually did. In particular, there was a map of North America which obviously wasn't done by our child. I found the owner, Lori and the Director, Shawn, to be unprofessional and rude (especially the owner Lori). The employees seem unhappy if you get to know them. This is more of a daycare than a school. I do not recommend sending any child here if you want them to learn the skills needed to be successful in the local public schools. They gave a good sales pitch, but they don't live up to it. I noticed Yelp removed the other poor reviews. I wonder if they'll keep ours up, which is true and we have receipts proving our child attended this "school". I was really impressed with their curriculum: music, dance, Art time, free play, etc. The teachers were engaging, kind and yet enforcing the rules and structure which is absolutely a necessary component for toddlers. When we came back to Cali to our regular pre-school, our teachers commented that they saw such a positive change in our son's behavior and also a progress with his numbers, letters, etc. It'd be a no brainer if we lived in Denver for us to enroll our son full time. I also love that our son gets plenty of outdoor and indoor playtime, as well as creative play. Lydia has also been introducing some fun extra-curricular activities such as a music group, with instructor; yoga; science time, with instructor; and soon we'll have gymnastics instruction as well! This is all in a home environment too which adds to our son feeling safe and welcomed, and part of the ESTEMI family!
