Nice guys. Owner and a helper. We wanted a custom fence with cattle paneling framed in wood so it didn't block out the view but not tacky like chainlink. We did hire them late in the season so it was a month and a half before they could get to work and that was pushing it with winter coming. They did come and do a short privacy fence for us on another part of the yard that was traditional lumber. Then they came back later to do the large project. With freezing weather coming they came one day and did the posts with concrete, went to do another job, and then built the fencing at their business the week after, installing after that. It looks nice. Not the best pic but what I have at this time. It was expensive to do, I really can't say if it was overly expensive or not. We are in a small area and I couldn't find someone to do this type of fence so we paid what we needed to pay to get it done. The things I would say someone else should be prepared for are: Timing is quite subjective to this company. They might show up at 9, they might show up at 11. They might come on Monday or they might not. You will do some contacting them to verify things, it is not necessarily on the forefront of their minds. Not saying this is bad, just something I was not used to. If you want them to clean up the clay/dirt that gets dug up, the leftover after they fill back in around the posts, you need to tell them. No idea if this is extra. I didn't bring it up and so I am doing it myself. Not a biggie, just one more thing to do and of course with the weather it is not easy. They are quite busy, if you are flexible that is fine, if you still work maybe not. Before I retired this would have driven me nuts. Being retired it is thought provoking but not awful. Lastly, we did spend a lot of time picking up "clay patties" out of the grass and still getting plenty on our shoes and that stuff doesn't come off easy. If this bugs you then you might ask they stay on a pathway when going to their truck back and forth. Their boots are just caked in clay. I will say that they noticed they forgot to put on a piece after looking at the pictures they took at the end and so they came back the next day to fix that. Not something I would have noticed likely. They also brought some scraps we could close up the gaps in places the ground was sloping so our dogs don't get out. They didn't have to do that. Overall I would not mind using them again.

J&J Removed all of the "overgrown, weedy rock garden area" around our house....hard to grow anything nice, because the DEER eat all of the Hostas, Shrubbery, Day Lillies...(.but the Deer don't eat the wild grass and weeds). They pulled out all of the rocks, dug up the weeds, put down a weed stopper, landscape fabric, and put the original rocks back in place!!!!! This area looks 100% better, all of the rocks that had been there over 20 years, reappeared! Looks great again, thought I might need to buy more rocks....but they were all dug up and filled the "rock garden" to its original capacity. What would have taken my Spouse and I at least a week of achey knees and backs, J&J completed in less than half a workday!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND J&J Lawn and Landscaping and will keep their number in my phone, we will call again for any outdoor work in the future. His quote was fair and competitive and we scheduled a date to complete the repairs and he said he would also bring the chimney up to code. His crew arrived right on time and the project took 3 days. One for set up, one for the concrete work, and one for tear down. His crew was nice and professional and respectful of my property. R Factor of the North is an excellent roofing contractor. We had shopped several different roofers…read moreand R Factor provided the best quote for the roofing material and services to be provided. They came highly recommended by our now-retired remodeling contractor who has done several projects for us. He still uses R Factor for his own buildings. The on-site crew was excellent. They cleaned up the property every evening before they left for the day and I never found so much as a nail after they left (it helps that they use a big rolling magnet). The crew would take time to explain to us what they were doing and what was wrong with the current roof (part of one roof had dimensional shingles that had been installed in the wrong pattern). Another part of the structure had sheathing boards that were over 100 years old; some boards had damage that they quickly fixed at no extra cost. They also made sure that my weather station and weather vane were reinstalled in the proper orientation. If they left at the end of the day and a section of roof wasn't completed, they would tarp the unfinished section to avoid any damage if rain should occur, even when precipitation wasn't forecast. In all fairness, three of the four workers were the offspring of the company owners, so they knew their family reputation was at stake. The owners were excellent, also. Ted and Trisha were very good at explaining what needed to be done and in helping pick appropriate colors. Before the project started we decided to change the drip edge color; Ted made a special trip out with samples to make sure we had the proper color. There was good communication throughout the project. We had a quick response for our request for a bid. If we had questions and they were not immediately available, they would return our call promptly. I highly recommend R Factor of the North and would definitely use them for future projects. Finally, if you are concerned about some of the older, negative reviews on other sites, know that those reviews reflect the previous owner. Ted and Trisha purchased the business in January 2022; reviews before that date should be taken with a grain of salt.
