If you like a really comprehensive and bustling market, you won't find much better. Eclectic mix of fresh street foods, clothes, junk, just about anything you can think of, Beverley's Saturday morning market is outstanding. Picturesque, charming and totally English. read more

There are a lot of stalls in this market and there's loads of different stuff. It's hard not to start with the food so I will. There is meat cheese, cakes ,burgers ,hot drinks, ice cream, doughnuts etc.etc. We head first for the best garlic bread we have had. There is lovely veg and flowers including unusual ones. There is loads of non food stalls and its not loads of stalls selling the same stuff. If you want an unusual gift you might find it here. this is well worth a visit especially as beverley is a lovely town with a lot of history and a fantastic Minster. Also if you like charity shops the ones here are worth a visit. read more

The Saturday Market is held weekly with over a hundred different stalls. The Saturday Market starts at 8am and finishes around 4pm, but some stallholders leave early particularly in the winter months so don't leave it til too late to visit. Don't forget to wander up the main shopping street to the Wednesday Market too. There is a wide range of stalls, try some of the Greek Olive and local cheeses. Take home some of the award winning Lincolnshire pies and local pork and some old fashioned sweets for the kids. There are some interesting stalls that sell wool and craft items and the air is usually scented with homemade soaps and bathbombs as you walk around. Beverley market is a great place to pick up souvenirs and small gifts and different gifts can easily be found. There are stalls selling bespoke t-shirts, pashminas, novels, jewellry, gloves, socks and handbags for very competitive prices. Look out for the little chinese silk purses and glasses cases which are great party bag items or even stocking fillers. The 16th Beverley Festival of Christmas takes place on Sunday, 12th December 2010. 10am til 4pm. This festival is the largest in the area, attracting thousands of visitors, be sure to park out of town and use the park and ride from the racecourse if you are coming in. The Saturday Market becomes a bustling Christmas Market with lots of attractions including a Victorian fairground for young children, street entertainers, bands and morris dancers. Santa arrives in his sleigh pulled by reindeer and there are cute Bernese Mountain dogs too. A couple of minutes walk to North Bar, there are Sealed Knot perfomances where they re-enact a scene from the Civil War. Very exciting to big and little kids alike. There is also a classic car display. read more
