Two weeks later, I was battling with them to complete what they had initially indicated to the lender would have been completed 4 days earlier. One of the legal assistants indicated he had lost my address three days after it had been "due" and indicated that the paperwork could not be completed without it???!! As a result, our closing was delayed and they blamed it on "miscommunication" and their "vacation time". They then tried to charge an additional fee of $150 to deliver the already delayed paperwork to another attorneys office. The lender agreed that the service was lousy and my agent was beside himself. I do not buy and sell for a living, so when real estate professionals that I hired and trust indicate that we are getting lousy service, I believe them. I cannot speak to the attorney's knowledge, skills or abilities, nor do I know what their "specialties" are. That being said, I would NOT recommend them for real estate transactions because it does not seem they have the time or enthusiasm to get the job done. They might learn the lesson from this that they should not accept work that they do not have the time or desire to do well, as it reflects poorly on the office as a whole. Update...In the end the office did facilitate getting the documents moved to the new office and while the closing was a day late, it worked out. So I am raising the stars from 1-3.

He also helped me interpret an old family deed. All of this was done at no cost to me. At a later date, I had a document notarized at Smith & Smith, and I was not charged for that service either. Everyone at the firm has always been friendly and professional. If and when I am able to finalize a home purchase in Cullman county, I look forward to having Steve handle the closing.
