I am extremely disappointed with the treatment my wife and I received from Virgil, who identified himself as the manager. My wife has severe arthritis, so I carried one of the larger bottles to checkout while she grabbed another item. We both spoke as we walked in, but he only stared at us without responding. A kind young female employee was the only one who greeted us and helped my wife find what she needed. At checkout, although my wife was paying and had her wallet out, Virgil asked for my birth year and then my ID. I wasn't purchasing anything and didn't even have my wallet. When I asked why, he said I needed ID because "she could buy the liquor and you both could go crack it open in the parking lot." I found that comment rude, judgmental, and completely unprofessional. When I asked for a manager, he said he was the manager. Policies can be explained respectfully without making assumptions about customers. In today's world, kindness costs nothing. I hope BevMo addresses this seriously, and I will continue escalating this to corporate until it reaches someone who values professionalism and customer service. read more

This continues to be my favorite beverage and liquor store. They now have set up two designated drive up parking spots next to the entrance for curbside pickup. It is so easy and all of the instructions to alert them that you've arrived are clearly marked on sign posts at the parking spots. Ordering online is simple and user friendly, and the variety selection is broad. They usually have everything I need at discounted prices, even the higher priced liquors. I am always pleased with the more hard to get and specialized items that they carry, such as absinthe... the real stuff, and Pernod. The only item that is always unavailable and out of stock is grappa. Is there some problem with the grappa market? When ordering on line you enter a date and window of time, usually one hour, for pick-up, and they will email or text when your order is filled and ready for pick-up. It couldn't be easier. They bring out your items, typically boxed, and place it in the trunk of your car, and you're off to leave. Yesterday, the service attendant wouldn't take a tip I felt sorry about it, but perhaps they don't want to touch money during the pandemic. I hope they find a way to tip on the web site like some restaurants do now. This is an excellent location and both in store and pick-up here is easy and a pleasure. read more

Meh...I've been buy things out of convenience here on a regular basis for 15 years. Ok prices but willing to pay for convenience . What just got me....i went in the other day to ask for boxes. The guy was great. He's like please. Take as many as you want. 3 days later, today I walk in. I ask again. The one guy is super friendly and says sure just not too many. Then goes on to explain why but then reiterated go ahead and take a few . I was line cool. I put 4 aside. And another clerk who seems to be doing nothing comes up and says...you can take two holding his fingers up with some kind of power trip. I said the other guy just told me I could take a few and he then looks at me and says...you can take Two again with his fingers showing his two fingers. What an a...just lost a customer with that attitude especially after another employee who seemed to actually be working just told me differently. Response to business. Appreciate the acknowledgment. It's not so much of an inconsistency of communication, well maybe for my negative experience today, but more so the way it was delivered. Purely an employee that has no customer experience training and if so, didn't sink in. read more

I really don't know what you would complain about with Bev Mo! Maybe the fact that they play Pandora music in the store and you have to listen to incessant BevMo ads when you're already in the store is a legitimate complaint. Beyond that their prices, their selection, their service... All of that is outstanding. They have a little bit of fresh fruit, and a little bit of cheese, so if you're putting something together last minute it is still a single stop! This location in Orinda has good parking and an uncluttered layout and nice people. They may not have the rare wine that you're hunting for, or that one beer brewed in northern Maine, but they've definitely nailed the superstore version of your favorite package store! read more

Came here to find some La Croix that they don't have at other stores (cherry/pineapple). Cashier gruffly asked me for ID-and I had to run back to the car to grab it. Not a big deal, although I wasn't buying alcohol, but the cashier said "uh yeah, it's a liquor store". Cool, happy to grab it. ...BUT the review is because the very next customer who didn't look that much older than me had alcohol, and the cashier did NOT ask for his ID. We hired Bevmo to deliver all of our beverages to our wedding venue in Berkeley after doing a tasting here and feeling very comfortable with Keri. They were super easy to work with and they made us feel easy and comfortable that everything would be done correctly. They communicated very well with us leading up to the event and delivered everything we ordered on time. Today I walked in the most organized BevMo I've ever seen. I've been looking for prickly pear syrup forever and decided to stop in to see if it was available. This very bubbly, amazing cashier (Maya) had the most energizing , down to earth, just over all amazing human being spirit. She knew exactly what I needed and she knew exactly where the product was. Literally the best experience ever. Once I checked out I totally forgot I was even buying something. Maya had me cracking up and feeling that nostalgia Bay Area feeling. Extremely bad service by Kyle, the floor manager and Susan the store manager too. I observed both Kyle, the floor manager of the store then, and another lady working at the cash register too, and she didn't provide me with her name when I asked her to, who was working at the cash register. I have seen both of them trying ALCOHOL products being sampled by a guy inside the store. That was in total violation of BEVMO company's rules - BEVMO strictly forbids and doesn't permit employees when working on company 's premises, to try alcohol samples. I told both Kyle and the lady working at the CASH register inside that store then that it is against company rules to try ALCOHOL PRODUCTS, but they both , I mean Kyle and that days register lady, ignored me. read more

This BevMo is always clean and very organized. The staff here is helpful. Yesterday I called to see if they were selling any ABK, hell beer. It's the Bavarian beer and taste absolutely wonderful! Is by far one of the best beers I have ever had in my entire life. Upon calling they told me there were six beers left In the store. I wanted more than six abk beers so she went as far as to check at the Walnut Creek location. It turned out that the ABK hell beer is being discontinued. BevMo will no longer be stocking up on this tasty beverage. I had her put them on hold and I pickd them up immediately. I'm sad to see this line disappear at BevMo. I will be searching other stores in the area. I'm lucky the staff let me know they were the last Available. U Can always count on the BevMo staff for insider information. Friendly service from Marie, the cashier, and very easy to find everything I needed, but BevMo is kind of a last resort for me now. I live near the BevMos over in Walnut Creek, not far from Total wine in Pleasant Hill with it's awesome deals, so I only ran into this location for an emergency refill of beers and ice during a softball tournament. $5 for a small bag of ice is about right (unless you're at Costco), but $18 for an 18 pack of Bud Light? So, come on over to try several selections* Of course, I make a beeline for the tasting station! I sprinted past all of those Orinda housewives (you know THOSE bitches can drink) to be first in line for the tasting. And how much to try all five selections? One quarter! That's right. I think their wine sales are decent. The selection is always great, and if you cannot find what you're looking for, there's always an employee willing to recommend an alternate. The same applies to micro brews. Some common names could probably be had at a slightly lower price at a grocery store but it's really a toss-up on this and the cost of a trip negates just buying all your booze here. I like Beverages and More and go to one in Albany frequently. The stores in Albany, Walnut Creek and Jack London Square are all spacious with a great selection that is easy to find. The Orinda store on the other hand is smaller and much more confusing lay out wise. I got what I needed, but I didn't necessarily enjoy it. I also didn't find the staff particular available, nor were they forthcoming with occupational drinking tips. read more
