I love BevMo. It's my all time favorite place to shop. This is the smallest one I've ever been in. And the beer selection is frighteningly small. However, I did find 2 bottles of a Shipyard's Smashed Pumpkin Ale out of season, which made my day. It's not bad, but I'm not impressed. Not enough to drive from Seaside to Salinas when I'm craving microbrews. read more

Great store very clean and organized! Amazing selection of spirits and pretty great prices as well and good amount in stock. Some bottles said it wasn't in stock online but when I was there they had a few in stock so just call to make sure first cause most likely they'll have it! Went into BevMo today and bought a bottle of liquor & 2 whiskey glasses. When we pressed the button a lady came and just opened the glass and took it up front and didn't say a word to us! Didn't even ask us if we needed help finding anything. As we were looking at the beer she was following me n my husband all around pretending to scan beers. Then I go to the cash register to check out and the guy had no paper to wrap my glasses, didn't offer a bag, and kept apologizing to us for some reason. I will never go back to this BevMo again. Have to say, this is one of my new favorite spots to shop at in Salinas. The place is always clean & well stocked. The staff is friendly & helpful. This is a good size Bevmo, as I have been to smaller ones w/ less selection. The Beer choices are amazing! Just about every Country that can produce Beer is represented here. The wine selection is also quite extensive as well. Wine tasting is only .25 cents on Saturday! Couldn't believe that, as most wineries charge at least 5-10 bucks for wine tasting. They also have other specialty drinks like: All kinds of Root Beer's & Ginger Ale's. The Deli selection is great for putting appetizers together for a shin-dig. My wife says the greeting cards are the best there also. Oh yeah, don't forget to get your Bevmo card, which costs nothing but will give you a nice discount here & there. read more

Rude customer service. The cashier Kelly was rude and would not help me with what I was looking for. I asked her for help finding a wine and she said she couldnt leave her register. There was literally no one in the store. I then asked her where a specific wine would be and she just replied, "idk." She said nothing to me when checking out. Very rude and made me feel uncomfortable. Defintely will not return here. read more

On 04/01/13, my fiance and I returned a 12 pack of Big Sky Montana (Mixed Box). In the bottom of each of our beers was a half inch of gooey yeast ball. If you have never had to experience what that does to the taste of a beer, we hope you don't have to! We had our receipt and brought back the two open beers along with the rest of the unopened box. The manager had to be called up for the return, and began to justify the disgusting condition of the beer, stating, "ALL beers have sediment." I was shocked. I am 40 years old and have been drinking beer for a long time. It is very rare to have beer in the type of condition of the Big Sky I was returning. He begrudgingly let me pick out a different twelve pack and pay the difference. This time, we went with a 12 pack of Leinenkugel's Lemon Berry Shandy. Upon getting the box home and opening the box, we decided to inspect the beers. As we lifted the first two out of the box, the same, half-inch of yeast was in the bottom. Realizing this couldn't be a coincidence, we found the expiration date: the box had expired in January. I called the store immediately and was given to the same manager. He again tried defending the sediment as something "normal" that my fiance and I should drink, but backed down when I pressed him on the box being expired. I went in this evening to make the exchange. As the manager approached the register, there was no hello, no "I'm sorry," or anything resembling a modicum of customer service professionalism. He sternly said, "I've talked to corporate and we are only going to do this so many times." I was stunned, then angry. I informed him Bevmo might want to set up an aisle of "sediment free" beers for those of us that didn't want a half-inch of mucous in the bottom of our brew, and informed him I would be contacting corporate myself. I am contacting the Big Sky company and Leinenkugel's tomorrow and let them know that a representative of Bevmo is trying to convince their customers to drink yeast balls. Furthermore, I am sure Bevmo corporate, when they hear the actual story, will either train this manager or find him a position to which he is more suited: something not involving dealing with customers. He managed to make my years as a Bevmo customer come to an abrupt end: all because I refused to drink yeast ridden, expired beer. read more

If you're looking for drinking related items not typically stocked at your local grocer, BevMo probably has it. They have great selections of beer, wine, spirits, and accessories. The downside is that for items available at the local grocery, you'll likely pay more here. For example, my preferred beer & wines are generally cheaper at the grocery store down the road (I refrain from mentioning the name, but it's not hard to figure out). read more

Terrible. The man I assume was the manager (40 year old short guy with black slick backed hair) has a disgustingly bad attitude. I was buying some reasonably expensive scotch the other night and I was treated very poorly by him specifically. none of the employees seem to know anything about their product, and seem to not care that they don't know. I've been to other bevmo locations and have had great experiences but this place is so bad I would consider not ever buying fans bev mo again. read more

Good basic BevMo One problem, if you ever try to call to verify a tasting, a program or anything else... the phone system answers, you listen to a recording and it says to dial 0 to actually talk to a Bevmologist... then you get a busy signal. Should leave zero stars came here with my boyfriend and our friend we came here to get beer and Cheeses. I wasn't buying anything. My boyfriend was waiting in line with his friend I was looking at the small bottles of liquor then walked away to look at all of the glassware. The tall weird looking checker with the glasses would not let my boyfriend or his friend but anything since I didn't have my is because I "touched the small bottles of liquor". I was not even buying anything! If a child would have touched those small bottles Would he not sell to a parent?! Most likely not. Worst customer service ever. Excellent and seriously informed staff. Friday afternoon beer tastings ($2 for a flight) are well chosen, and help one get out of a rut, such as Tylor's quest. The beer selection is not only very large, but these folks will track down what you want and get it. They also have a selection of root beers that is fantastic. Others complain about snacks and equipment: I don't care about such trifles. That the staff are so on top pf things makes this place rock. read more

My fiancé and I always go to this BevMo because they usually always have what we're looking for and customer service is great. This time, my fiancé went by himself (my fiancé is black) to get a few different drinks because we're celebrating my birthday tomorrow. When the person in front of him was paying he stood at the end of the register and the cashier by the name of Robert asked him to step back, so my fiancé did no problem. Then my fiancé is now checking out and a white male stood at the end of the register like my fiancé was before Robert told him to step back. My fiancé noticed this and called Robert out, not rudely but letting him know if you're going to enforce rules make sure they apply to everyone. Robert just shrugs it off and says "oh ok" so my fiancé pays (personally I would've taken my business else where then let the manager know), puts the drinks in the car and comes back and lets the manager know that how his employee is picking and choosing who to enforce rules to is RIDICULOUS and UNFAIR. Especially during this time and it just so happened my fiancé was the ONLY black man in the store when this occurred. We both appreciate the acknowledgement and empathy the manager showed when my fiancé let him know what happened but it's honestly disappointing because as a community we are suppose to stand together and I don't believe BevMo would approve of having an employee that picks and enforces rules off of someone's race. read more

these stores suck, most of them were originally liquor barn stores that went downhill from overpaying its executives, when it was bought by two other companies, so they refiled under this name and did not have to pay employee benefits that liquor barn employees had. liquor barn was a store started by safeway and offered its employee good pay and benefits and did great. dont support this labor camp. its grocery store work and employees should be payed for it. read more

I have frequented many BevMo's and this location in Salinas is the worst for customer service. First, no one was at the register so we had to wait. Once it was my turn, I provided my phone with the electronic coupon. She picked it up to pull my off my membership number then failed to scan the coupon. Now, everything has to be returned and repurchased from a different register. At some point you would think that someone would apologize for their incompetence and my inconvenience but instead I felt as though I was an inconvenience. If it weren't for the purchases being a gift, I would've made them take it all back. Avoid this BevMo if possible. read more

I came into this store and the first thing I noticed there was a group of employees laughing and joking. They were all on their cell phones and didn't even greet me and another customer. They all seemed to act very young to actually be working there. I asked for a stout beer and the african lady said she will get someone to help me??? There are like 4 of you here and you have to page someone? Ok. I never got assistance! There were boxes, small ladders and dollys in every single aisle and no one was working. How is this place safe? Very disappointed. We went in to order a keg and it had to be special ordered. The manager, Ray, gave a list of excuses why he couldn't get it done until the following week. He said it would be a couple weeks before it came in and said he'd call. When asked if we should try Gilroy, he said it would be the same. We stopped by Gilroy two days later on a Saturday afternoon and ordered the keg. By Tuesday my keg came in. We're happily drinking beer in the backyard and still have yet to hear from Ray in Salinas. read more
