Well , when u need booze , this is a good place to start . I like to browse to see new stuff . Staff is usually knowledgeable & they have given me info on new products & what's the best to serve , etc . I have never been that into Irish cream , but I did like Kerrygold better then Bailys . Now a new small batch artisan one is out , that I think is darn tasty . Love a petite pour at night , or top a cappuccino on a lazy Sunday , reading and lounging . Just taste sensational . When I asked the young gentleman to help me out they said oh well we'll take it off your hands here get out of here with no respect whatsoever! In Texas, we have Specs. In Cali, there's BevMo!, the bulk booze store whose name ends with a "!" making punctuation awkward and forcing me to sound super enthusiastic every time I say it. Cue the guy from the Thomas Dolby song that yells "Science!" in the background. Now you know what this review sounds like in my brain [BevMo!]. We wanted some craft beers for downtime at the hotel and found this BevMo! a few minutes down the highway. The parking lot is being resurfaced and was roped off in such a way that GPS put us at the far end where we could not even see the store, much less get to it. Jeff Foxworthy's "you can't get there from here" bit flashed through my mind as I *called the store* to ask for directions (I can't remember the last time I engaged in that ancient activity). The guy who answered was very helpful and gave us landmarks to find the store on foot through the construction. BevMo! is a giant, well laid out, warehouse full of beer, wine, and liquor. The store is clean, the variety wide, and while I had some difficulty finding beers I was familiar with, the journey to finding them was enjoyable because there's just so darn much to look at. Several selections have club member prices that seemed discounted. I have a penchant for niche premium craft stouts, none of which were on sale, and seemed priced about $1 more than elsewhere. For me, BevMo! earns four stars for selection, a clean and organized store, and service, falling short of a fifth star for prices slightly higher than other liquor stores. read more

Everybody know that BevMo is a one-stop shop for all your booze & party needs. But what makes this particular location stand out from the rest is that it's ALWAYS empty. There are literally more employees here than customers. I know that this is not a good thing if you're the business owner. But as a consumer, it makes shopping so easy when you have the whole store to yourself. There are no long lines. Easy parking out front. If you have a question about any of the wines or spirits, there's always someone available to help you out. I almost feel like I'm doing them a favor by asking questions because they don't seem to have anything else to do. All that aside, what makes BevMo great is the value. You get plenty of boozy bang for your buck, especially if you have a BevMo club account. I had an event the other day for 30+ people and needed bottles of Prosecco for mimosas. I wound up getting 8 really decent bottles for $80. And because of my membership, I wound up saving $20. I sure hope this location stays in business. read more

He was so rude to a lovely woman who politely asked for help finding 15 jars of Trader Vic's hot buttered rum mix (I want to go to her party!). I asked him for help finding a special white wine and you'd have thought I'd asked him to make it snow inside the store by the look I got. I don't go there often, so I was shocked to see that it was more like a Quick Stop in Barstow than the BevMo I used to enjoy. He was alone and couldn't ask anyone else. He'd only been working there 2 days which is why he wasn't sure and checked so thoroughly. They are lucky to have him. Briefly: needed to get a keg of beer. BevMo website said they had three of kegs of what I need in stock at the Novato store. When I got there, I was told that the website does not give accurate info about what is in stock. And they didn't have the keg I needed. Armed with this new information, I telephoned the San Rafael store. They checked and told me that they did have the keg I needed in stock. I asked them to hold it and then drove about 20 minutes in some kinda crappy rainy day traffic. When I got there, they told me that they didn't have it in stock. The person I spoke to on the phone had information roughly equivalent to that of the inaccurate website. I'm left with a question: What is the point of BevMo? Is it to provide customers with alcoholic drinks or is it to simply rob potential customers of time? Because if it's the latter, then well done, BevMo. Plus one star for getting me out of the house. read more

Ample parking, kind of tucked away on the Industrial side of San Rafael and near the freeway on & off ramp. If I could give zero stars, I would. We've been ordering kegs from this BevMo for 3 years now, but since BevMo got bought out by Gopuff, they have plummeted down hill! Their customer service is the absolute worst. All new employees who don't have a clue. Tried ordering online, but not possible. Tried ordering over the phone, no longer possible. Was told I must come in person, so I did. Then I'm told I needed to come back on Monday because the person who can order a keg won't be in until Monday. I go back on Monday and am told I need to call because the person who orders kegs isn't there. Needless to say - I will NEVER go to this BevMo again. Awesome staff! In addition to having a great and wide selection at really good prices, the staff here helped me figure out how much booze to order for my wedding last July. They provided free delivery to the venue. Unfortunately, there was a mix up and they did not deliver half of my order--- within 10 minutes of my call they were already working on correcting the issue and no one at the wedding was impacted. Wow, I don't know what changed at this place, but they've truly turned awful. Rude employees, poor customer service, and downright management bullying. I don't mind being ID'ed, as I am rather young looking, but the suspicious expressions and judgmental presumptions are downright insulting. I don't appreciate people giving me expressions as though they suspect my ID is fake. If you don't want my money, that's fine by me. I am carded by polite people at the smaller liquor stores, and management knows how to handle awkward situations elsewhere, as well. read more

Ahhhhh.....an alcoholics dream....what could be better. I walk into BevMo (I always like to accentuate the "Mo" part when I say this) with a mission. I think that everyone has a mission when they walk through those automatic doors. BevMo is not really located in a place where I'd walk by and say, "Well, I think I'll go in a just take a look honey." First of all, I don't have a honey, and second of all if I was walking by a liquor store and just decided to pop on in and take a look in order to buy some more alcohol, without a mission, I'm deeper in trouble than I ever though I was. When I've got twelve minutes to get to a family dinner and I forgot the wine, BevMo saves my slacker self and hooks me up with wonderful Bordeauxs and Beaujolais. Incredible Australian wines, Pinos Gris and Eiswine. I'm always a happy camper when I leave, not just beacuse I don't look like a total a-hole when I show up anymore, but also I've picked something good and now I get to drink it too. They have high end wines that they stock such as Chateau D'Yquem (a personal favorite and a birthday purchase for myself EVERY year....holla), and incredible champagnes. Also my perfect vodka which I can drink continuously or even take intravenously, Belvedere. I leave looking good, satisfied, and in a great mood, knowing what I'm about to consume not only did I get a reasonable price on and it was easy to purchase with the helpful and usually knowledgeable staff, but I'm about to have a great night...... read more

I have been frequenting this Bevmo for the last 10 years, due to the fact that the store is less then half a mile from where I live, making it convenient. In those years I have NEVER had an experience the way I did last week! My mother and I walked into the store and the first thing that I noticed was a new employee working at the register. I thought to myself, "That's nice to see that they are finally getting some new hires in, considering they have had a Now Hiring sign out front for months." We walked over to the beer fridge area and I grab a 6 pack of one of my new found favorite pilsners, Scrimshaw. I also need a lemon, so we walked over to the area where the fruit was kept and grab one. Walking up to the register, almost before I could even set the six pack and lemon down, the new employee asked if she could see both of our ID's. Now, as usual my mother did not bring her ID/wallet. 1 - because she was not intending to make the purchase or buy anything on this particular day and 2 - because we have NEVER been asked to show ID from the both of us, EVER! On occasion, the employee checking us out at the cash register will sometimes ask 1 of us for ID and usually the person paying and handling the beverages is the person they ask. Sometimes if they are a new employee they will ask for ID, but NEVER from both my mother and myself! And we almost always go into this store together! My mother told her that she did not bring her wallet because she was not buying anything, like we always do. She said that she would not be able to sell us the 6 pack. My mother and I were so caught of guard by this response that we looked at her like your joking right?! She said that she was sorry that she could not sell to us unless we both had ID. We complained to her that this has never happened. Told her about how long we have been coming and not once have we had a problem like this! She told us that there was a sign on the door out front that stated, "Everyone must show ID whether they are buying something or not." THIS WAS A FLAT OUT LIE!!! She lied straight to our faces! On top of that, she told my mother that if she stood outside the door, that she would then be able to sell the 6 pack to me. So, not only making us feel like our business here was worth shit to them, she embarrassed and humiliated my mother on top of it all! I asked her if we could speak with the manager at the store. She looked at us with a smirk on her face and said, " I am the manager." We were appalled! We had never seen her before in 10 years and now she was a manager with horrific customer service skills! As my mother stood right outside the door, I went ahead with purchasing the 6 pack of beer and lemon. I then told her that we have never had customer service like this from here ever! At least I haven't! I asked her where she came from because I had never seen her before and she was one of the worst managers I have ever encountered!!! She told me that she had transferred from another bevmo. I paid for my purchase and another employee came over to help bag at this point. He asked if I wanted a bag. I said no bag. She preceded to say yes to the bag quiestion, after I clearly said NO! I then mad myself more clear and said, "No BAG!" He noticed that I was upset and slid the beer and lemon over to me with no bag. TINA is the new manager at this bevmo on West Francisco!!! I am spreading the word about my experience to my friends and to anyone on my Yelp that knows me and knows that I would never put something like this up unless it really hit home!!! AGAIN, TINA the new manager at Bevmo is awful and has the worst customer service I have EVER dealt with EVER!!!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!! First of all, I have lived in SR for two years and had NO idea that this store existed. We drove to Novato or Greenbrae for all our Bevmo needs this entire time. Then we began planning our wedding and when I googled BevMo for a number to call and make an appointment to taste wines, the SR store popped up. So excited to know this is so close to us! Anyhoo, Bob helped us select wines for our wedding. He was kind, knowledgeable and very very helpful. We really appreciate it! I hired Bevmo to deliver drinks for my Labor day wedding. They very understandably missed the delivery window due to traffic from the bridge being closed. I called them a few days later to talk to the manager, intending to just inform him what happened and let it go. It got there, no big deal, right? If he had just apologized, said that there'd been more traffic than they'd expected, and thanked me for bringing it to his attention, it would have been fine. By the end of the conversation, I am now wholly convinced that this was one of the most unprofessional places I've ever encountered. My jaw literally dropped as the manager said, "It's not our fault, it's the delivery company's. They do this all the time, they never deliver on time on Sundays. I'm really angry at them. I guess one could say that Bevmo is a little bit responsible but it's really the fault of the delivery company. " At this point, I just straight up told him: -Bevmo is responsible because I contracted this service through them. -We shouldn't have had to call after the delivery window came and went- they should have been monitoring the delivery and done something when they realized it wouldn't arrive in time. -They shouldn't let customers place orders knowing it won't arrive in time. This store is less than 2 miles from my venue-if I'd known this was likely to happen I would have picked up the order myself. -It's so unprofessional to confirm an order with a customer the day before a big order, assure her it's sitting in the store's refrigerator ready to go, when the whole time it's actually being driven up from Hayward by a company that doesn't deliver on time. He told me that he hoped I would still use their store for future orders. Are you kidding? read more

My name is Jeff and I'm addicted to Dogfish Head Punkin Ale. There, I said it and I feel better. I was on a quest to buy this difficult-to-find beer. If you like pumpkin ale, it's the best there is. Really. And I couldn't find it anywhere; I checked the Dogfish Head site, called and visited a half-dozen places with no luck. First of all, as I entered the store I was greeted with a, "let's go Giants! What'cha lookin' for?" Sadly they didn't have the DFH beer, but Dan the manager checked their system and found a few cases across the bay in Pinole. He took my number and told me he'd try to get a few cases. I know this is a chain and they may not have every boutique or cult wine there is, but they do have a consistent inventory of good wines. So I go there for everyday wines and their $.05 sales. Last time I was there, a woman (sorry to say I did not get her name) asked me if I needed any help. I told her what I was looking for in general and her suggestions were so good---tasty, just the varieties I like and best of all, most on sale! My buddy purchased some booze on line and asked me to pick up for him as he loves an hour away from the only Bev Mo that carried what he was after. (A limited release of an anniversary year of Bushmills). I was coming through San Rafael and offered to pick them up. Bev no wouldn't let me collect the bottles for him because I wasn't able to present the credit card it was purchased on nor his ifd which I was happy to have him fax or photograph. Since my adolescent drinking days I have always been in awe of this megaplex of alcohol and drinking finery. It's like the Amazon.com of imbibing that offers a selection of hard-to-find local sodas, juices, and microbrews along with the Best-Sellers (vodka, gine, rum etc) at insanely cheap sale prices. The wine selection is paralyzing and spans a generous third of the warehouse space. One of the first things I did as a new legal drinker was head over here and get myself a BevMo discount card and a cart full of liquid. read more

I have absolutely no knowledge of wine so I was scared of going in there and asking questions and being though a fool. However, I was pleasantly surprised and delighted at the level of customer service I received from one of the clerks, David, who taught me about wine, helped me get exactly what I needed for my event, and never once lost patience with me. While I don't shop here a lot, I do find the customer service to be superior to almost any liquor store. The selection is excellent for spirits (can't find everything, but they cover most bases). A nice wine shop probably has a better wine selection, but this place has a very broad spectrum of beverages. read more

I made a small liquor purchase last week for friends due to arrive from Hawaii. Now they don't drink as much as they used too. So I was left with the purchase. I returned to the store a few days later to see if they might be able to give me a store credit without purchase receipt. Well the front staff & the office staff couldn't have been more helpful & understanding. They took the time to research the transaction to my surprise able to issue a full refund back to my credit card. This is what & why .... customer service is all about. We brought all of the bottles we were considering to the back of the store and did a full wine tasting to be sure we were getting some great wines at a great price. Wouldn't recommend going to this store unless you want to be treated with suspicion and made to feel unwelcome.. Once again I was asked for my ID when buying a pack of beer the other day. I obliged but am always confused why they ask as Im 49 years old and don't really think I could pass for a 20 year old! .. Anyhow I gave my ID and then they turned to my 20 year old daughter who was stood behind me waiting and asked her for her ID. I thought this was a joke at first , she was with me and they had already seen my ID and was not buying anything herself just waiting quietly for me to buy my beers so we could go home. Since she was not buying anything she didn't have her ID with her and just told them she was not buying anything. The guy at the checkout then said he needed to talk to his manager! We could understand why. The manager came over an asked her again if she had her ID and then said to me is she your daughter. When I said yes she said thats ok then and they allowed me to pay for my beers. Im law abiding and have a zero tolerance towards my children having any alcohol before there 21. But I do not understand why they would ask her for an ID when she was not buying anything and was clearly with me her Father who's ID they had already checked. The overall tone was one of suspicion with very poor customer service. After this and having read some other reviews on this location I've decided to take my business somewhere else in future rather than have me or my daughter be put through an itimidating performance each time I want to buy a six pack. read more

We used Bev Mo for all the drinks at our wedding. We worked with Ron who was super nice and helpful. He had a great sense of how much to buy and is always on the lookout for getting you a good deal. We got our wine and champagne at the 5 cent sale. We also got beer, mojito supplies, and non-alcs. They'll store it for you for up to 90 days and deliver it (I think for $50) at the correct temperature -- so all the white wines, beers, etc. are cold. We saved a ton of money by going with Bev Mo instead of through the caterer, and also got wines and beers we really loved. read more

Place is hit and miss, sometimes it seems like you are better off going to Safeway now. I know people like the 5c wine sales but I have yet to see anything that enticed me. Prices are okay, but not anything spectacular. Service is okay, but again not anything special. It is what it is, they have a good selection, are easy to get to right off of the freeway, and parking is not a problem, for most of us that is enough. read more
