They've done my wifes hair just about since we first came to Adelaide in 1998, she was introduced to Amanda, the owner, by a group of people called Adelaide Settlers, who helped people new to Adelaide find the best local places to go - a lot like Yelp, but done in person over coffee and cake. Axis isn't really promoted as a mens or unisex hairdresser, but I always felt comfortable getting a cut there. Ask for Danielle - she showed real care about getting my hair right, and always had a smile and a greeting, in or out of the salon. However, the resident hairdresser at Kudos, David, is definitely a good choice. He used to work at SAX along Unley Rd until he recently opened up his own place. The interior of Kudos is very appealing. It is black and white, with minimal decorations and a red couch. Oh and the chairs. When you are having your hair washed you get to sit in chairs that give the rest of your body a massage. I didn't think there was anything better than a head massage at the hairdressers, but this is it. David always gives a good haircut. He is also amazing at dying. Once I decided my pink hair needed to be blonde. I proceeded to sit at the hairdressers for three hours until I had an amazing white blonde colour! Another lady works out of the hairdresser, doing manicures, spray tans and waxing. This means you don't even need to leave the shop to have the works!

She is one of those people who makes you feel good - just because. This salon is tiny and as Daniella says it's really just 'for cool people', so if that put's you off - don't go! I'll keep them to myself! Ladies cut is around $70 or $80 which is pretty par for the course in Adelaide when it comes to precision cutting. Not one of the most expensive, but certainly not cheap. All my guy friends pretty much go here too - so it's not just for the ladies. The girls are happy to keep it traditional or do something really out-there for you... perhaps let them know what you're after before they book you in as they each seem to have different strengths when it comes to cut, colour and styling. Generally I do prefer people a little more down to earth and relaxed, but they're definitely friendly none the less. And they also write down what they've done with your hair each time, so you've got a good starting point when you come in next time, or when you need to see a different stylist if yours happens to be on leave. There are also nice touches, like when you have your hair washed, you sit in a massage chair, and in addition to the normal scalp massage, they also give you a neck massage, which is lovely.
