I have been seeking a church home for some time. Not an easy task! I visited Life Church a few…read moremonths ago. 1) Parking and directions, great. 2) coffee, doughnuts available if that is important to you. 3) friendliness: same as most, need to work on noticing those that are obviously first time visitors. Not suggesting that visitors remain seated and have members come and shake your hand...if someone appears they may not know what to do, a church member should get out of their click and say hi and escort them to a row or explain process. (Evangel Temple is best at this) 4) greetings and upcoming events : acknowledged and well informed 5) Local Pastor did not speak during my visit, message was video taped from Lead Pastor, I believe from NWA. Which was great, his message was amazing and very moving. I feel his heart and intentions, as in witnessing to the community, are spot on. I was very moved. 6) The musicians were amazing, extremely talented, instrumentally and vocally. The song choices were more contemporary, which, I prefer. I could not return as 2nd time visitor. The music was so loud that my ears, head, and entire body were ringing/vibrating for hours after service. I go to church to connect with the Holy Spirit and with music playing this loud, and that is no exaggeration, it is difficult to connect peacefully with the Holy Spirit during praise and worship. I dont understand the mentality of thinking the speakers need to roar full blast and while taking away from the musicians talent??? The message will still come across at lower level! Many churches play contemporary music but not at this rock concert level :( This is the only reason I did not return.

The church has several satellite campuses across the area and they do a great job of providing ministry access for students, parents and men, women, boys, and girls of all ages. We highly recommend this as a potential place for you to call your church home.

The marker reads, "The first Catholic church in Fort Smith was a log structure at North 3rd and D Street. The Church of St. Patrick was dedicated March 5, 1848. Bishop Andrew Byrne had purchased a square mile of land on the outskirts of Fort Smith in 1847, upon which stood the abandoned Fort Belknap, which had been commanded by future President Zachary Taylor. In 1853, five Sisters of Mercy arrived from Ireland and established a convent and school. During the Civil War they cared for the sick and injured of both sides. A white frame church erected at the head of Garrison Avenue in 1867 served the congregation until damaged by a deadly Jan. 11, 1898 cyclone. The magnificent red brick and cut-stone church designed by Chicago architect Adolphus Druiding was dedicated June 1, 1899." The church offers Mass in English and Spanish a number of times on Sunday, daily in English and twice per week in Spanish. They also host several classes from Communion through Confirmation. I love being a part of this church. The parish is a traditional german catholic church and is 126…read moreyears old; the school attached is, of course, just as old. Three masses during the weekends, church events going on all year long, bilingual masses, and a wonderful preist make this church feel welcoming to multiple cultures in fort smith. I personally love the church family that I have found while being part of this parish.

This church does a wonderful job of reaching out to the community. They have strong children,…read moreadult and other special programs (senior citizen focused, music programs, youth clubs, etc). The pastor is friendly and very engaged - as is the entire staff. They offer a D23 basketball program, among other ministries/programs to reach students and families. If I lived in Greenwood, we would seriously consider attending church here, we live in a nearby town and come here for some programs but attend a church near our home for regular weekly church services. I encourage you to check out FBC Greenwood if you're in the neighborhood or close to/in Greenwood!
