The Best!! Falafel comes out warm and crisp every time. They have an amazing cheese dip that comes with pita chips. They have a really good cheeseteak and other sandwiches that you wouldnt expect to get from a place like this.. Big vegetarian platter options like the Galilea.. This place is a gem. The Nazareth and Mujadara platters are what I normally order, they are fantastic meatless options that are very filling. Every component is always fresh and tasty. I've also ordered this farmer's cheese type spread with walnuts and it too was super delicious. The Nazareth platter is basically a sampler of all the good things: Falafel, tabouli,hummus and baba ghanouj. The Mujadara platter comes with a cabbage slaw, yogurt sauce and smoky semi-mashed lentils, it sounds weird, but the flavors are unique and flavorsome. It is cash only so make sure you've got at least 10 bucks on hand (The prices are so reasonable you'll get a pretty hefty meal under $10). PS: My husband gets the cheesesteak and he loves it. This place is like an old friend I've known for years. I've been getting falafels here since the early 2000s. It's my absolute FAVORITE place to get a falafel. So good and it never fails to hit the spot. It's grab-and-go for me, though there is seating outside during the warm weather seasons. You have to eat it right away for optimal flavor and perfection (it's fine if you get it to go and bring it home, but the pita gets soggy). I order mine with tahini and hot sauce. One of the better options for Middle Eastern short of driving to Main Street in Paterson. I like the gyro the best which is prepared with the traditional lamb as opposed to beef which you get in many other places claiming to have authentic cuisine. The kibbeh, when available, are also outstanding. We will often split one of the platters with a few extra sides as these are typically large enough, with the included pitas, for two people and at around $11 are reasonably priced for the amount that you receive. While there is no dine in option I do not mind eating al fresco in the warmer weather or taking it home to eat there. Consistently good food prepared in an authentic manner. read more

Yum! I love this place so much. It's a teeny tiny place I found on yelp, while looking for places to eat around Urban Outfitters in Montclair. It's right around the corner from UO; a tiny little place I wouldn't have noticed, if not for the little patio tables and chairs out front (so yes, you can sit and eat outside, weather permitting, but there is no seating indoors). Their falafels are great: crispy and golden on the outside, moist and crumbly on the inside, perfectly spiced. They make them fresh for you when you ask (you can watch them use the little scooper to make them into balls and throw them in the fryer). The chicken kebab is moist and yummy, but I recommend the shawarma. Whatever spices they use make the meat so flavorful and yummy. The pita is fluffy but thin, so when you unwrap the foil, you always find that the tzatziki has soaked through the pita, but I usually take a fork with me and pick at it that way, so that I don't have to deal with the messiness. I usually ask for "everything and hot sauce" on it, which means they'll put lettuce, tomato, onion, cabbage, pickles, tzatziki, and of course, hot sauce and jam it all into the pita. The portions are huge for the price. My sister and I will usually order 2 different kinds and share. I have yet to try the cheesesteak. They have a sign up on the wall that says they have the best cheesesteak or something. That is on my to-do list and I will update this review when I try it! read more

I have been going here for over a decade. I've been to the Middle East and the falafel here compares and would still do gangbusters anywhere. Everytime I go now, I have a hard time deciding between the falafel sandwich which is the best I've had or the cheese steak which is innovation for the use of potatoes. It's a take out only place -- there's no tables or chairs inside (no space). The owner stands (all day?) behind the counter, which leaves you with a sardine space that would've barely fit in 10 humans, if not less. The walls are filled with yellowing posters of Nazareth, Jerusalem and other Middle-east destinations. But enough about the decor... The chicken shawarma is perhaps one of the best I've tried it made me wonder why the other guys -- even fancier places -- can't get it right and make it as good as they do, given how "simple" this thing actually is. We also order the special du jour Gyro with rice and beans (also delicious), and a Galilea platter with baba ganoush, tabbouli and falafel with salad, hummus packed separately. They don't even hide the fact that the pita is store-bought -- they give it to you in the plastic bag it's packaged in. But then again they don't have to... it matters not.
