I mean you have to love this place. Some people I know come here all the time, I've been a few times with them. You can't beat a $5 deal of beer and a shot. Bartender is nice if you are nice. This place is almost directly across the street from my apartment. I just moved to the area and saw it and thought I'd give it a try. Could have been better, but could have been worse. Went in to watch a game and have a couple of beers. Got a Blue Moon draft for $5, which isn't bad. ($15 minimum to use card.) There was an old woman behind the bar, who stood at the other end talking to two older men. This is definately a neighborhood, hole in the wall, dive bar. The bartender wasn't the friendliest or most attentive, but could have been a lot worse. Warning: The owners little dog has the run of the place, so when you enter, don't be surprised to hear a lot of high pitched barks, until the owner tells it to quiet down. They have three TV's that always are showing sports on mute, while loud music plays. So if you want to hear a game, go elsewhere. read more

Don't let the looks of this place scare you away. Dive bar karaoke at its best. While pounding cheap drafts from a plastic cup, an iconic disco ball looms above as you thumb through the song books. The regulars will amaze you with great singing despite some of them looking like Susan Boyle from Britain's got talent. The bar attracts a good mix of friendly people and as the night gets late you will see more of the Logan hipsters and the occasional group of girls that feel the need to sing an off key Brittney song. All this is what makes it a fun place to be getting your karaoke on. Went a few times over a few years. Something really awkward and weird inevitably happens every time. Once there was a really drunk woman who could not have been younger than 50 boasting about how she was pregnant with twins. Her boyfriend was 21. The bartender always apologizes to me the next time I come in about the last time I was in. I won't be going back after the final last time. I went with some friends to check out the karaoke night. My usual bartender (tall young woman) was not there but who I assume was the owner/her mother was. Only one person from the birthday party crowd in the back of the bar was singing so my group was the rotation. A couple of my friends are in bands and have some stage presence- which is a hit at the bar down the street- but didn't fly here. The bartender came over and scolded us for being too loud. Are you kidding me?!?! The only people keeping the karaoke alive are singing too loud on a weekend?!?! We downed our drinks and split. Why they are even having a karaoke night is beyond my comprehension. read more

Before you go to this place, ask yourself if you want to go to a real Chicago neighborhood dive bar. There are not 15 different IPAs on draft, the owner and bartenders speak with Eastern European accents, and the regulars may glare at you a touch if they don't know you. They have decently priced beer, can make a few drinks, and provide a safe and comfortable place that is centrally located relative to most of the North Side with a lively crowd and a nice vibe, I go here at least once every couple of weeks, and I love it. read more

This is my favorite bar in my neighborhood and I love that it is within walking distance of me! I'm a fan of anywhere that you can get a shot and a beer for $5 but there's something special about this place. Drinks are way overpriced and the bartenders/owner is rude. Also, they charge you for water because, "it's too complicated" to provide water on tap (ie. they want you to pay more money). Don't go here unless you want to be snapped at and overcharged. read more

I really wanted to karaoke last Saturday night and this was the closest location to where I was. Karaoke starts at 10pm and we arrived around 9pm. Luckily the Blackhawks game was on to occupy the one hour waiting period. The prices are lower to what I'm used to playing and that's always a bonus. Once the karaoke had initiated I was one of the very first to sing and what I liked most about the place was that they had their own mini stage to perform on the in the corner. Don't be deceived, that tiny stage makes you feel like a superstar for the duration of the song...especially when people are singing along with you. Worst bar ever!! I wish I could give no stars. Why would someone open a bar that hates people? I was there with a few friends and was made aware very early that we were not welcome. The owner yelled at us, scolded us, glared at us and treated us very unkindly. We were not drunk, we were not misbehaving. A bar owner should expect some level of enthusiasm, otherwise you are in the wrong business. My husband dropped birthday cake on the floor and she screamed at us and kicked my whole party out, even when we offer to clean it up and pay for damages. She lost lots of money because of her intolerance. read more

This bar could easily have been Thelma & Louise's first stop on their road trip. It's a dive in every sense -- cheap drinks, Karaoke (Saturdays), pool table and a mix of people that don't look like they belong in the same place but who seem to get along beautifully after getting a little liquored up. Allah is the owner and she has run the bar with only the help of a female friend and her niece for the past 25 years. She makes a mean Gin & Tonic and her story is pretty badass. A nice little hidden spot in my hood. Just recently discovered it. Really good drink specials, and friendly staff. It certainly has it's locals, but once you get in and they see your not an asshole, they warm up quickly to ya. It is walking distance from my home so I can drink and not drive and the Karaoke on Saturday night is the best.The KJ are super friendly;the owner,Ala is awesome, and "the regulars" are very nice people.
