It was a good mix of food with plenty of flavor. The hot stone keeps the food very hot, which made it difficult to eat. So, next time, I would get the Classic Bowl or Plate instead. The complimentary, self-serve Miso Soup, Barley Tea, and Lemon Iced Water are very good. Overall, the meal is high in sodium, but I only eat this way occasionally. I do appreciate that the food contains no MSG (monosodium glutamate). Service was friendly, and there was a pleasant flow of happy patrons on a Saturday morning. The place is immaculate. My husband and I had a lunch date here and really enjoyed it. It's pricier and not your typical Korean restaurant, but the food is good, and the establishment is cute. First the food. We both ordered bibimbap in your old school dolsots. Unfortunately the rice was not crispy on the bottom like you'd get at a classic Korean restaurant. The toppings, while fun to customize, are usually standard when served traditionally. I didn't think the flavor was as good as the real deal served in more traditional restaurants. I got the beef and my husband got the pork. The beef was missing the right flavor. The pork tasted better but I'm not a pork person. Normally bibimbap has spinach but this wasn't listed as an option. Egg is also normally a regular topping, not an extra. When you mixed everything up, it just didn't have the right overall taste I'd get at authentic Korean restaurants. Overall though it wasn't bad. If I were to come back, I'd save my money and not bother with the dolsot option. It did not enhance this meal. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 3 is the fun ambiance. It was okay. The ordering was very confusing. You pick the base, protein and toppings which is similar to other places that I've ordered from. However, it seemed like every option was an upgrade as I didn't see anything that didn't have a $ amount under it despite the couple toppings allegedly being included so I wasn't really sure if it was really an upcharge or was just showing you in relation to the other items ordered and the lower $ would be included in the bowl. After searching for a long time, we finally found a place where you can build your own bowl of bibimbap. The service attitude of the staff was very good. We both ordered their bibimbap with beef bulgogi and was able to choose up to six veggies and a sauce on the side. I got the spicy cucumbers, corn, red onion, bean sprouts, broccoli, and enoki mushrooms with purple rice and for my sauce, I got their sweet and spicy red sauce, which tasted like the original sauce that bibimbap would come with. As I ate this bowl, it definitely tasted much healthier because of the fresh veggies and the bulgogi wasn't oily and was seasoned enough. Although, I do wish there was more protein in my bowl because it was piled up with the purple rice. At the bottom of my bowl. I went in with high expectations based on the reviews but I was a little disappointed. The flavor was good but the stone pot was definitely not sizzling, the food was not even hot. It was lukewarm. It is savory with the right amount of kick from the sauce and spicy cucumber. Since it's served in a piping hot bowl, the rice on the bottom gets nice and crispy. It's like a part two while eating. Something to look forward to. It was delicious and filling. Given that the bowl comes out as hot as it does, it came out shortly after we placed our order. The food was good, could have been better if they were not out of our requested menu items.
