If you're a fan of grand murals, head to Centro Historico's Biblioteca Miguel Lerdo de Tejada. Housed inside an 18th century church/theater, the Baroque building is now a public library and research center with hundreds of economics books and newspapers. Open during the week at 9 a.m., walk through the grand wooden doors and find the security desk. They'll check your I.D., check your temperature, and give you hand sanitizer. Then they'll guide you through the passageway into the grand room. The murals started in the 1970s and are by a Russian-Mexican artist. They are very colorful, making my five-year-old daughter love them as well! There's a small exhibit in the lobby about the murals. Admission is free. read more

If you love books and libraries then I recommend you pay a free visit to this unique library in an old church. You have to show ID and leave any bags at the secured entrance. There are beautiful huge murals inside which are picture perfect. read more
