this review is for primas' pastries! raspberry corn mille feuille - the jam rly amplified the raspberry flavor while the fresh berries had the perfect amt of juicy tartness to balance out the sweetness. the pastry was so flaky & crisp without being too buttery. I hate coming here. When Bica first opened in our neighborhood we loved trying different drinks and items on the menu, enjoying their unique twists on everything and their delicious pastries and sandwiches. Sometimes it can be a hit or miss, as with most places that have more of an experimental approach, but lately I've been leaving Bica just regretting coming and wishing i had gone somewhere else for my morning routine. The staff will 100% prioritize their friends that walk into the coffee shop, over customers. This has happened many times where I'll walk in, place an order, then notice 5 people behind me in line getting their drinks before me simply because they're high-fiving and hugging the owners or baristas. I've waited 30-45 min for an iced tea while 10 people get their coffees who ordered after me because I'm not sure if it's easier to make 10 coffees in a row then stop your flow to make an iced tea, but they definitely don't make the drinks in order here which is so frustrating on top of the long lines. Cute little coffee shop right on Adams! The guy who took my order and my waitress was super nice. I ordered the honey sea salt latte, vanilla matcha with Meyer lemon cold foam, and the tuna sandwich. The coffee was yummy, decent for the price. The matcha was not for me, i didn't enjoy the type of matcha that was used and I was sitting outside in the shade and it started to curdle. The Meyer lemon cold foam was yummy on its own, i wish i ordered it with my coffee instead. The tuna sandwich is delicious but it only comes à la carte. Walked in excited to support a local coffee shop with my family, but unfortunately we had a disappointing experience. When we came in, no one greeted us and we stood waiting for about 3-5 minutes even though it wasn't busy at all. I was first in line, yet three customers behind me received their drinks before I did. I only ordered an iced matcha, and another customer who ordered the same drink after me got hers first. The cashier/barista (a white girl with shoulder length brown hair) was not friendly or welcoming at all. The interaction felt unprofessional and dismissive, which really upset my family and me. I rarely leave reviews, but customer service and basic courtesy go a long way, especially at a local business people want to support. Sadly, after this experience, we won't be coming back. read more

I popped into Bica on an early Saturday afternoon for a solo brunch and I was NOT disappointed! Both my hot latte (honey sea salt) and my iced latte (orange cardamom) were absolutely phenomenal. And don't pass up their food options! I had the Tuna Conserva sandwich - best tuna sandwich I've had in my life! The coffee here is really delicious! I got a honey sea salt latte and was surprised at how smooth the coffee was, and they got the mild sweetness just right with that hint of honey. Service was fast and friendly, ambiance was casual but inviting. Street parking only. The patio area was shaded and it was really nice to enjoy the warm weather outside. My friend got the orange cardamom latte and really enjoyed her drink as well. I tried the salmon and black radish kimchi tartine- it was beautifully presented and had an interesting combination of flavors. I can't say it was really delicious, but it wasn't bad either. It was heavenly. I love how thick the bread is, the ricotta was creamy, not too cheesy. All of the ingredients used were fresh and balanced well together. Think I'm kind of just over this place now. They only sell giant pastries and small coffees. I'd rather it be the other way around. Mondays are industry night at Bica and wow, it was amazing! Bica also has dinner service in the summer and they host other events on their patio. The barista was so friendly and kind. We got teas and coffees to pair with our food from Ming Ouns kitchen (the Monday vendor feature) and we enjoyed our food on the outside patio. Vibes were immaculate and we can't wait to be back for their morning and evening hours for Bica. They also have a little pantry with wine and other items. We try to support local businesses, but sad to say Bica was pretty disappointing. For a neighborhood spot, the pricing is not local friendly. Looking for simple items, we ordered the bread & butter ($11) and ricotta tartine ($13). I'm guessing the toaster is calibrated for the thicker slices of bread because the thin ones came out completely burnt but they still served it to us. The tartine was fine, from pictures I thought it would be two pieces but was one thick slice. Bread is from a bakery, not house made. Perhaps it'd be better to stick to their more elaborate items like lox or sandwiches. Coffee was the saving grace of our breakfast. However we saw a drink that was given to the wrong table for a couple minutes, which was then taken by an employee and just handed to the person who ordered it?! I don't feel that was very sanitary. Tipping starts at 20%, but kind of regretted tipping over that when its self serve and bus your own table. read more

Size was also smaller than expected for $6. Chocolate Miso Loaf (4/5) - I got this because I was enticed by how delicious it looked behind the glass. It was moist and came with chocolate chunks. Not sure if I tasted miso or what miso is even supposed to taste like when paired with chocolate, but I enjoyed it. It was definitely pricey ($6) for a pretty small loaf sliver...so despite me liking it, I probably wouldn't get it again unless I got a raise or something. Worth mentioning that my friends enjoyed the honey sea salt latte. SERVICE: (5/5) Super kind staff! Had a pleasant time ordering. The vibes were super nice. Most places I dine at skimp on the salad - they skimp on the quality and freshness of the greens; they skimp on the density of flavor and they skimp on the portion size. Bica's seasonal salad was simple yet nourishing. Green lettuce, radishes (which I hate, but somehow, the way they prepared was delicious) and green vinaigrette that I wanted to lick the plate for. Although the place was busy, the food came out quickly. We ordered a tuna salad sandwich and two of the seasonal salads with a honey almond latte. Ambiance was killer with DJ Ed Roc spinning the tunes; the volume was loud enough for a vibe and quiet enough to converse. Even people walking by were bobbing their heads. Speaking of people, the patrons were so chill and welcoming. A young lady working on her school assignment, allowed us to join her at her table. I dinged it one star because the chairs aren't cushioned. At my age, my butt looks for cushioned seats. I'll bring my own cushion next time. Bonus, I got to meet the owner as we were walking out - such a chill dude, you wouldn't have known he owned the place. We'll be back - with cushion in hand.
