This is the Best Bicycle shop. The staff is fantastic. I have a brand new E bike from a company I won't name, as it arrived to my home and I put it together. There were problems from the start. After dealing with the company for 2 months and many phone calls to numerous repair shops, no one would touch the bike or would be able to assist me. One call to Bicycles International, Shawn listened to my problems and he gave me over to Jordan, the Lead Tech. Jordan told me to bring the Bike in and bring all the parts the company sent to me. Next day, Jordan called me, even before the shop was even open. He said, your bike is fixed and working perfectly. I can't say enough about Jordan and the complete staff. This used to be my go-to, but not anymore. Sales people seem more interested in getting you to the cash register fast than listening and delivering what you asked for. I asked for inner tubes with threaded valve stems, while the clerk insisted unthreaded would work. They didn't, and I ended up at Louie's in North Port. New to the Venice area and stuck with the imposition of a broken spoke, it was recommended to go to bicycles international and ask for Atilla. I drove over there at noon, pulled right in off the 41 and there was convenient front row parking. Attila came right up from the back and took a look at my wheel and said he would get it in line To be taken apart to see if he had the replacement part. I left the shop, and three hours later I got a phone call saying it was ready. The service exceeded my expectations on timing and attentiveness - I couldn't be more pleased with my experience here today. Just finished the Glow ride and was shlepping my stuff back to my car. Had a folded table and it was a bit cumbersome where, I suddenly get assistance from Tia, a representative from Bikes International. Granted, I am a bit on the older side and Tia immediately insisted on helping me with my stuff and helping me load. Tia is a primary example of the type of service I have grown accustomed to recieving from Bikes International, here in Venice. Buyer beware. This is an unethical organization with bad business practices. Went in to get an upgraded saddle and grips on a FX2 I purchased a year ago from this store. Went with the recommendation from the manager, John. The seat and grips were far less expensive on-line, but I wanted a recommendation. The manager, John, told me I would have to replace my handlebar mounted mirror due to the grip I was buying. I spent $173 for a saddle, grips, and mirror, very pricey. When I installed the grips it turned out I did not need a new mirror. The original mirror worked perfectly. In fact, the new mirror was not compatible with the handle bars on the bike or grips I purchased. The manager mislead me about the need for a $26 new mirror. The bottom of the receipt states "All sales final" as do some signage at the counter which I didn't take note of when making the purchase. Decided to take the mirror back because it was purchased when the managed said it was required for the grips. The sales person in the store and the manager (same one who sold me the mirror) refused to take the mirror back citing their no returns policy. It did not matter to the manager that he had in fact told me something that wasn't true, mislead lead me into purchasing the mirror. They offered store credit, their policy being once they have your money it's theirs. There was nothing I needed or wanted from the store, and I refused the store credit. To make the experience even worse, the manager behaved as if he was being wonderful and reasonable. His attitude infuriated me so much I did something I seldom do...said a couple of choice words. Then left the store. So, in total I've spent ~$1200 in that store in a little over a year. And they couldn't see their way to refund me $26 ( 2%) for an item that was purchased based on bad advise from their manager. Buyer beware, if they make a mistake it will cost you money, not them. I am rarely one to write a review but when customer service is this stunningly bad I felt like I had to say something. I brought in my bike for a tune up. It had been in storage and I just wanted to make sure it was safe to ride. I picked it up and took it for a ride and within 20 minutes on the bike path pieces started falling off the bike. I almost ran into an elderly couple and had to carry it back home. When I brought it back in Wesley, the manager on duty, alluded that if I had paid more they might have done a better job. Then he threw the guy that helped me under the bus saying he was new and didn't really know what he was doing. He acted like I was actually bothering him by saying I was not satisfied with the job that was done. Like I said stunningly bad customer service. Update: Thank for the reply Wesley. My first name is Richard but my middle name that I go by is Devlin and you are correct my last name is McNamara. I appreciate you clarifying that. You absolutely did get my white and gold redline bike turned back around in ten minutes. This actually would not have been an issue if you had been a little more understanding of what I had just experienced and not quite as rude not only to me but also your employee. Good bikes for my 2 friends and I when we walked in a Sat. AM. They were a little miffed that we hadn't called or reserved online, which we didn't know we could do after hours. One issue I have is that tho they provide back racks, they offer no ties for purses, backpacks... I had to go across the street to Lowe's to purchase Bungie cords, to strap my back pack on the rack, which contained our phones, purses, misc.. I would gladly have bought something there if they had it, but they offered nothing to assist. read more

The store had recently opened and I went in for a bike tube. The tube they sold me didn't work for my bike and they refused to exchange or replace it. I will not do business with a retailer that won't stand behind their products and try to make the customer happy. It was a cheap part and they lost a good customer. read more

Bait & Switch??? I came in the shop to mail a friend's bike and get the very basic $40 service done on my bike (see attached screenshot from Bicycles International website - still exists today as it did before I went to the shop). The staff (multiple members) basically said our "checkup" service simply reviews the bike for issues but actually does nothing to the bike. When I showed the employees the website, they were surprised the checkup service included "adjustments" and they actually questioned each other if they do that service (even after SEEING it on the website!!!). They next said I guess we could do some of that (as some kind of favor to me, I guess?, and not even all the items listed on the website). The 2nd person suggested that they could just look at the bike (for the $40.19 fee I think) and his quote was "if the repairs / needs were more than $200...". I was so shocked at this point that I said thank you and left. It was such an easy opportunity to make a customer happy and they both completely blew it. I was in further contact about the mailing of the bike (getting the address corrected) and the third person failed to even acknowledge the issue or try to repair my view of the shop. Furthermore, I received a text survey shortly after my visit and gave all of the above feedback. NO ONE contacted me based on that survey (which honestly makes me question whether they care / read them). All in all, I can't support any business that doesn't honor their committed price list and further disappointed that they don't really care about honest feedback / customer concerns. read more

I just reviewed this place and gave it the highest rating I could give. However I have to add to the review. After some work on my bike I had a constant noise coming from the rear of the bike while riding. I stopped by and someone looked at it while I wait. He tried to stop the noise but after I left it was actually worse. I don't blame him sometimes it's hard to locate a noise and he did it while I waited So I had to bring it back but left it there for a more thorough look at the bike. That afternoon they let me know it was ready. This time the repairs worked and the bike is quiet again. The shop checked everything and adjusted everything on this bike. After both times trying to remove the noise I was told no charge. Now I don't know if when it was in for repairs that caused this noise or just wear and tear. The point is Bikes International treated me like their best customer and I truly appreciate it. Don't buy your bike or get your bike repaired anywhere else. This in my opinion is the best bike shop anywhere. read more

I was having trouble finding parts with my local bicycle shop. I called and spoke with Tim who said he'd need to see my bike for sure but thought they would have repairs I needed in stock. I took bike to them. They had everything except a gear that could be replaced later. The work was done in just more than a day. My first ride (35 miles) was perfect. Went in last weekend to shop for a new bike. Spoke with Jennifer -- she is a great sales rep. Very knowledgeable, asked good questions about my riding needs, and we picked out a bike in no time. I had a bit more shopping to do so I took the quote with me intending to come back the following week to pick up the bike. I waited too long and when I went back the next weekend the bike had been sold (just the day before). Unfortunately, Jennifer wasn't working that day and the person I spoke with seemed totally uninterested in working with me and content to let me walk out the door. Too bad they lost my sale for lack of any effort to save it. read more

The people at Bicycles International are so knowledgeable and helpful. I just returned from having new gear shifts installed on my bike as recommended by Wesley. They estimated 3 days to complete the work and in less than 2 days I received a notification that the bike was ready! A quick test drive, and OMG Wesley was right!
