I stopped into the Sedona store on Saturday July 29 to get some shock for our pool. I walked in and over to the products where I knew it was. There was only 1 bag. I took it to the counter which was to my left about 6'. No one was around and suddenly I noticed a gentleman sitting in one of the comfy patio chairs to the left of the counter. I said, "excuse me, do you have any more of this"? I waited about 30 seconds for an answer assuming he did not hear me. I asked the same thing just slightly louder. Nothing. Finally, I went and stood in front of him about 2 feet back and asked again. He was too busy looking at his phone watching a movie or something to even acknowledge my existence. Again, I waited about 15 - 20 seconds, nothing. So I put the product down on the counter and walked out. Guess it was the owner. There is no customer service in this store. I wonder how they stay in business. I will never step foot in this store again. read more

I recently was at Biddles in Prescott and told the teller that there were small black insects floating on the top of my pool. The teller, Jennifer, cleverly sold me 4 products, none of which had anything to do with the problem. Just to make a sale, the teller lied to me and convincing me that the insects were black algae about to go into algae bloom that would spread quickly all over my pool. After using one of the four products, Sodium Carbonate (a concentrated very alkaline form of baking soda), it made my skin itch. So, I decided to look into it and the other products that she sold me. It turns out that two of them are used as pesticides and three of the four are considered potentially carcinogenic. When I went in to return the products, the teller said, "Read the sign: we do not refund pool chemicals." In small lettering amidst several paragraph of writing, on a worn out 8 x 11 sheet of paper, there lost amidst everything else in the store full of countless items, are the small words, "We do not refund pool chemicals." I told her that I did not see the sign. "That's not my problem", she said, with utmost apathy, looking away. "You should have told me." "I don't have to tell you. You needed to read the sign." This is theft. Due to lack of customer service and teller dishonesty, I am having to do a reverse charge to get the refund of $114. read more

Do not go here unless you definitely want to buy an expensive new hot tub! We went to Biddle's in search of repair parts for our thirty year old in-ground hot tub. Which still works great by the way. What we found at the service desk was a seemingly friendly helpful guy who gave us a bit of useful information on first contact. So we asked him to maybe help us find some parts for our old heater unit. We go in a day or two later and he proceeds to pull out a list of parts totaling up to almost five thousand dollars. He couldn't find the one part we needed, (and most likely had no intention of looking because we found it very, VERY easily online for $140.00). He then tells us it would probably be better to buy a new tub for the money! At this point some sales lady comes out and attempts to create a buyers frenzy by telling us she is about to place a large order from the same hot tub company we were looking at. Coincidence? I can't believe it was. So we finally opt out and go home. At this point what do we get but two more sales calls that very same night. Please, high-pressure me all you want in the store, but calling? Don't come off as desperate, that just makes you look bad. I do not like to write bad reviews about businesses because I love the entrepreneurial spirit, but I will definitely NOT be going in there to buy anything. Including chemicals. Ace has them down the street and they're cheaper! So long and good riddance Biddle's Outdoor Center. read more

A great retail center, plenty of options for patio home and pool. I normally don't mind paying the premium prices when it is a local establishment with a solid level of customer service. Here I experienced the high prices and a substandard customer service level. read more

Locals avoid this place; now I know why. I ordered a fountain and it immediately needed a part because it didn't work; weeks later when I heard nothing and left a few messages (voicemail), I cancelled the charge on my Amex card. Literally overnight, three people called including the owner. Instead of siding with the customer, she claimed I was wrong, that they had called to install the part and I ignored them (with a brand new fountain that didn't work, I would ignore them, why?) She said "we've been here forty years" or some such, to which I say. "Keep looking to the past, treat your present day customers poorly, and I can't wait to see Yelp post that you're closed." read more

Biddle service is sub-par. I have purchased THREE new hot tubs from them in the last few years so you would think they would care about customer service. WRONG! I made a simple request regarding a broken part in March 2014. At first they tried to say it was out of warranty - it wasn't. Next, they said they ordered the part. A MONTH later, they tell me the wrong part was ordered. After fighting with them for more than 5 months to fix their product, I found the part online and got it in 2 days! Never again. Don't even go there. The store is convenient to Sedona, but that's the only positive. read more

We were swindled out of over $13,000 from the owner of this company back in 2012/2013. We had contacted him about installing a spa and patio at our house. According to ROC regulations, a spa/pool contractor is only legally allowed to collect a $1000 deposit for spas/pools. The owner of this company did not tell us this and instead high pressured us into signing a contract with him, requiring a $13,000 down payment. Then he disappeared for two months. After 6 months he still had excuses why he couldn't start the job....one of which was that he had to go to CO to visit his daughter. Finally, he said he would be at our house the following week with "a full crew" to begin the work. That day came and his "full crew" consisted of 1 person. By noon of that day the owner rang our doorbell and handed us an invoice for more money. We asked him where the $13,000 had gone. He had no answer and we said we weren't going to pay him any more money until some actual work had been done. That's when his "full crew" of 1 person walked off the job (after only two hours). We fired him and filed a complaint with the ROC. After a year, the ROC confirmed that this man had broken the ROC regulations, but told us we would have to sue him in civil court to recoup our money. This man almost lost his license over this. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. They are bad news. And by the way, don't let them tell you they have been in business for 45 - 50 years and couldn't possibly be anything other than angelic. This man's father is the one that started this business way back when and the current owner only took over when his father died. It's the current owner that has taken his father's reputable company and turned it into trash. One last thing, we were told by the YCCA that they won't even let this company/man participate in the annual Home Show because he owes fees for a couple of prior years for a booth at the show that he won't pay. Run as fast as you can from these people. read more
