Get there early in the day for their best and most famous offering, Arbuckle Fried Pies. Yes, those world famous crusty folded and fried pockets of fruit filled heaven. On an unwavering mission, we rounded the corner east bound on Route 66 late in the afternoon. Our destination in sight, the Old Magnolia Garage. In I go, straight to the big fried pie display case. I really wasn't expecting to find anything left at this time of the day, but there they were, two blackberry pies. Somehow, they survived the morning feeding frenzy. They were immediately adopted, along with a strawberry. Tomorrow's breakfast delight. Nope, not as good as if I had been there when they came from the fryer, but good just the same with a fresh cup of coffee the next morning. Get there early!

Started in 1958 in a strip mall here Tulsa (not here here), the chain has 1005 locations across the Midwestern, Southern, and Western United States. It was opened after the founder saw the success of the 7-Eleven chain and decided he could compete with them. QT brought several innovations to the convenience store concept including being the first to offer self-serve fountain drinks and the first to open a convenience store in a downtown location. I've been to two dozen QuikTrips in my Yelping from as far away as Arlington Texas and all across the Charlotte North Carolina area including Denver, Gaffney and Fort Mill. I find the restrooms are usually clean, the coffee is excellent and the snacks are top notch. The QT Kitchen is great for a quick made-to-order or grab-and-go breakfast. They've actually been out of straws for weeks and their soda fountain is a disaster. When I went in today, there was ice on the floor and everywhere else and multiple cups laying around. When I filled my drink, I realized why everyone was leaving their cups around. The soda machine was completely diluted and was pretty much just carbonated water. I usually would always stop by to get a drink on my way home, but it's time to look somewhere else.
