Visiting the hot springs is a must on every visit for me. So relaxing and peaceful even with others around. I would say that I am a novice hiker and hiking through Big Bend is quite easy though I have faced some challenges. Be sure to wear proper shoes and clothing. So very thankful that we are still able to have this national park as it is now. The trails, views, landscaping, all of it...simply breathtaking. I have found park rangers to be extremely helpful and friendly. Can't wait to get back again.

The dessert was beautiful and the park as a whole was very well taken care of! Old Mine Trail: Since we went around "Spring Break", the parking lot was very busy and spaces were limited. I would recommend downloading the "All Trails" app to gauge how busy the trails are. By 7:30, all the spots in the small parking lot were already taken. The trail itself was very well managed. Although the parking lot was busy, the trail was not bad! We were pretty spaced out between hikers! Take lots of water and snacks! The views up top are spectacular. Star Gazing: We were at Sotol Vista (for panoramic stars). The stars were especially beautiful inside the park because there was no light pollution (aside from the headlights from passing cars down below us).

From there it's just a short 3-4 min walk to the river bank, and from there you can do a roughly 1 mile hike if you want, or canoe on the river, etc. Do beware it is MUCH hotter down here in the canyon compared to other parts of the park eg chisos basin. On a mid October day, it was up to about 90F and I couldn't do the hike because it was too hot with the sun beating down. The views right at the river bank though are already iconic. If you're in big bend national park you really should drop by here, even if just for the scenic drive along the way~~

I can't say enough about this experience but I'm going to try…read more Our guide was fantastic. He was informative, friendly, and gave us a true adventure. Loved the fact that it was a small group. There were a total of 6 of us and then the guide. We were also lucky enough that my husband and I were on the ride with 2 other couples which made it more comfortable. It was not an average boring trail ride either. We took the unconventional trails, dips, and hills. Joining us was the guides dog, so friendly and so much fun. He ran along side us and the horses seemed to be totally comfortable with him around. We arrived at the top just in time to see the beautiful sunset behind the neighboring Mesa. When we arrived, we sat at the two picnic tables waiting for us. We had cheese, crackers, fruit with a fruit dip, along beer and wine. When we were arriving at the stable at the end of the ride, our guide noticed that the fireworks might make the horses a little uneasy so he made sure to stop and make us aware and let us know that if we or our horses felt uncomfortable we should let him know. I would definitely recommend this trail ride to anyone considering it. It is well worth the money.

We did a early morning ride with Evo (gotta consider heat and horses) and his knowledge of plant life, history, suggestions for a scenic drive to Marfa, etc. made our excursion completely delightful. Evo also took a few moments to snap LOTS of pics of us (worthy of a picture frame). Evo was polite and respectful of our time and made the trip a nice way to end our vacation. The icing on the cake was Miss Dottie, the cattle dog who was a great addition for our ride.

Very professional friendly, and helpful in any way that you need. The setting of the place is gorgeous (please see photos). There are mountains, the cacti, the sunsets. The golf course itself is really pretty as well. The restaurants on the grounds are all pretty good. Ultimately, it's a great place and I would not hesitate to stay here again on future visits!

It's not too steep but there are a decent number of switch backs. The view was lovely; not as lovely as Emory peak in my opinion but I really enjoyed even the views along the way, especially at the saddle right as the sun was coming up - the colors of the sunrise were absolutely incredible. Overall if you're short on time and can't do south rim for eg, this is a lovely shorter alternative.
