All the planning was done by them, while the two families chose to provide gifts, wedding cake etc. A room for the night was included for the couple and those of us who didn't want the problem of getting home late at night booked double rooms for a very reasonable price with an excellent breakfast included. The wedding itself was smoothly conducted, with a registrar present and all guests had a celebratory drink of bucks fizz or natural orange juice as preferred. There was a Wedding Breakfast as I have been told to call it actually a glorious meal. We also had full use of the function room for the evening, with its own bar, right through until everyone had had enough; although some of us went through to the adjoining public bar as they had two real ales on hand-pump! Drinks prices were (for an hotel) very good, in fact, the same as pub prices around the area. The rooms were basic, but very comfortable and, for most of us, on the ground floor and very close to the function room. The car-parking area is next to the hotel and ample for all of our needs. The location is perfect as it is surrounded by fields and trees, yet is right next to the East Lancashire Road (A580), so very easy to find.

It really stands out on the seafront. We popped into the bar for drinks. The inside was nice but wasn't quite as stylish as I'd expected. I liked the big windows and round bar. Apparently they used to do cocktails but have replaced them with grand gins. Grand gins are popular at the moment and they suit the name but it seems a shame to completely get rid of cocktails. There was a good variety of gin available in the Spanish style, in a large glass with lots of ice and suitable garnishes. Mine was lovely and cost around £8.

They did have a little fridge in the room with drinks, chocolate bars and nuts etc. but remember to read the price list before you are tempted to eat any as it was about £1.50 for a mars bar and £2,.50 for a pack of biscuits. They have some lovely function rooms, we have been to a wedding reception here and it was fantastic, although the drinks were a little expensive. The local neighborhood has abundant shopping and dining options within easy walking distance. All of our morning and evening meals were in the hotel dining room. My little boy loved the baby pool each day. Food was good, room cleaned nicely each day. We have booked to return again soon, hopefully on a Tuesday as this, according to the literature I read in our excellent sized room, is a very special day at the Dalmeny as this is when they have the weeky fire alarm test which I would love to experience, especially as the children's entertainment is only on a weekend during term time. I dream not only of hearing the dulcit tones of the fire alarm test...ringing out like the glorious Westminster Abbey bells, but of being there during a test evacation, assembling at the fire point (which is at the front car park), meeting the fire wardens, chatting for ages about hazards and risks...I love Health & Safety, it could be the reason I've only been married 4 times but that's another story. My wife, unfortunately, doesn't share my passion and enthusiasm for Health & Safety but she, like me, enjoys the hospitality and experience the Dalmeny offers, so we do have something in common. We are due back again for 5 nights 8-13th September, if it were possible to have a tour of the fire exits and and any C.O.S.H cages etc it would really make my day. Located just off the sea front, about a 20 min walk to the North Pier. Compared to the other hotels in Blackpool I have stayed in previously, this was easily the best and I would definitely stay here again.

Look it up in a map before you go and you'll see what I mean, it's very easy to find and more-or-less straight off the motorway. Very modern clean hotel, with all mod cons - I think we paid £50 for a double room (no breakfast), so it's about the same price as a Travelodge but a lot nicer! Very clean and modern looking rooms, and friendly staff. Big spacious car-park with plenty of spaces. It didn't have much of an atmosphere - I think we were the only guests in the place judging by the empty car park - but it was nice and quiet and we had a good nights sleep! There's also a lovely little pub/bar in the grounds of the Ramada Encore, which does gorgeous food if you fancy a bite to eat without eating in the hotel restaurant - that is well worth a visit too!

I stayed at the Imperial Hotel while attending the March 2013 George Formby Society convention. My…read moreinitial room (see below for what I mean by "initial") was not a large one, but then, I never expected it to be. It was the size I anticipate when visiting UK seaside resorts, particularly those in beautiful old hotels. (And it WAS a beautiful hotel, both in its exterior and public spaces.) All room fixtures were modernized, though, so the room itself didn't feel old. I found it a welcoming place to be. The staff was always helpful whenever I asked anything of them -- snapping photos of us, printing out documents, checking bags, phoning local businesses -- and seemed empowered to find solutions when a problem cropped up. For example -- I realized during my first night there that the radiator couldn't be gotten to work in my room, and when it couldn't be fixed on the spot and a space heater couldn't be found, the staff member who was dealing with me immediately upgraded me to a much better room where where the heat functioned. I was pleased to see she'd been given permission to take that initiative. As for the food ... Breakfast was included with my room rate, and the huge buffet featured all the hot and cold standards you could want, including the UK baked beans, mushrooms, and fried bread that puzzles a Yank like me. I can't speak to the quality of every item, since I'm basically a yogurt and granola guy when it comes to breakfast, maybe a bagel or croissant, too, but those were fine, and from the way others wolfed down sausages, eggs, etc., it didn't seem as if anyone had any complaints. I also had dinner one night with friends in the bar. I ordered a club sandwich, which had a sliced hard-boiled egg in it, something I've never seen in a club sandwich before. I enjoyed it in that "hmmm, this is interesting" kind of way that occurs when something familiar has been tweaked. All quality ingredients, though. And another thing about the bar -- the staff was always friendly as we hung out there was late into the night. Overall, the Imperial Hotel was a pleasant place to stay, and I look forward to my return.
