Big Dog Fencing put up a fence on my property, that I paid over $17,000 for, to provide a safe place for my dogs. However, the dogs can get out because the gate is extremely flimsy and has large gaps and unprofessional looking cut outs in both the top and bottom. They used C Channels for fillers because they didn't measure it properly. They say it is only 1/2 an inch however they have two filler strips with an additional gap in the middle where it doesn't touch properly and they just left it open on the bottom with not even a filler. My Golden Retriever pushes right through gate, not under it, but through it because it was so poorly constructed. I sent them videos and pictures and they said they would come back and fix it their way, not the proper way of moving it, and not filling in the fence gap due to not adding the filler there, but just replacing the filler with cut outs and adding a support pole in the back, but I had to wait a week. Then he said he would be here Monday to fix it and was a no call, no show. Now that they have their money, they will not communicate with me. I have to take my dog out on a leash even though I paid more than $17,000 for this fence. I took a video where I whistled at him from the front yard and he got through in seconds, to demonstrate this and he said that was my fault for calling him, not that the gate was improperly installed. This is not safe for my children or dogs and now I am having to look for another company to come fix their work because they won't, even thought hey said they would. read more

Update. Alan has made several attempts by phone and email to reconcile the situation of a miscalculation of the quote. I understand we all make mistakes. Dion was unprofessional and unwilling to work with us or even negotiate. Unfortunately by the time Alain did reach out after his vacation, the neighbors and I ( now 4 families all yards worth of fencing) found another reputable fencing company that we will be using all together. 3 stars for Alan. read more

Very disappointing customer service. I contracted with Big Dog Fence to have my fence installed which came with a warranty. The pickets are pealing are two others have been damaged. It has been well over 8 months and I have been unable to have Big Dog Fence replace the pickets. I used Big Dog Fence as they are located less than 5 miles away and are local. I would highly suggest going elsewhere as their customer service is non-existent and I regret my purchase. I would not recommend Big Dog Fence. read more

Very disappointed in Big Dog Fence. I was referred to them by a family member and gave them a call even though they are 45 minutes to an hour away from my house. I decided to hire them without getting estimates from any companies closer to me. I'm assuming the distance between us caused the lack of care. I wasn't living in the house at the time so I can't speak on the punctuality of the installers but I'm certain I got the bottom of the barrel for several reasons. When they set the poles, they poured dry concrete mix in the holes and said the rain would eventually harden it. The actual chain link was installed the next day, having no water whatsoever added to the dry mix. It was installed and tightened on loose poles. I was asked if I wanted it even with the ground or level across the top. I didn't know having it level across the top would leave me with holes nearly a foot at the bottom throughout. I purchased this fence for my dogs and obviously that wouldn't work so I filled them with rock and dirt. The installers ran out of top rails so they had to pull one or two off my existing fence leaving it loose. Upon completion, Alan called a took off $10 or $20 instead of having the installer come back and finish the job. The biggest problem, however, was and still is the gate. I didn't move in for another couple months but almost immediately started having issues. The installer even told me at completion he had never done a gate like mine before and had several parts he wasn't sure about. There are several open tubes on the gate that catch the chain link and pull it apart. After maybe a year or less of dealing with it and trying to patch it myself, I called Big Dog out for repairs. A different installer came and said it was on completely wrong. He replaced part of the chain link but apparently didn't fix the original issue. Now, a little over two years of use, the gate has multiple holes in it from catching on the frame. We have to swing it out to try and avoid doing any more damage. I called Big Dog once again when my husky fit through the holes and got out. I sent over pictures of the damage and at that point I was informed that that is basically the nature of rolling gates unless you are real careful not to go out of square when opening or closing. I was never told we would have problems or offered any other option for it. So basically, I was knowingly sold a product that Big Dog knew we would have problems with. Now two years after the fact I am past the warranty period and am expected to pay $250 if I want my gate repaired, although I'm sure it will just happen again since it's a defective product. Me being a contractor myself, if I run out of material I have to make another trip to finish the job, whether the customer is 5 minutes or two hours away from me. I would never give them money off because I didn't want to make the drive to finish my job. My store also would not sell a product that we knew would give us problems because we stand behind our products. If we have a job go bad, we replace it and then throw the product out of our store if they don't warranty it. Our reputation is too important to sell poor quality materials. We also warranty our work for life because we don't knowingly sell products that we expect to fail after a year of use. Ultimately, I don't expect Big Dog to fix my issues because it will just be another temporary solution. I will probably end up replacing the gate myself with something that won't fail so quickly. read more

We love our fence. The people were wonderful and came when they said and stayed with it until it was done. They did a beautiful job and I couldn't say enough good things about the company. Alan came to my house on June 9 (after missing the first appointment completely two weeks prior with no phone call or nothing) to look at my job and give me an estimate. He told me he would email me the estimate on June 12. After a couple weeks and several phone calls later, Alan called me, apologized and said he would have it to me the following week. Another couple weeks passed and more phone calls, Dion (his son) called me. Dion stated Alan was out of town for a few days and he would be sending me the estimate in a few days. On Aug 4, I called Big Dog Fence Company 33 times (from 11:38 AM to 12:16 PM) and they kept hanging up on me. Finally, someone answered and said Alan was out in the yard very busy but would call me that day. Need I say more. It is now Aug 7, eight weeks since Alan came to my home to give me an estimate and I still have no estimate. I can only say that if you want a fence installed....Once I do get my project accomplished by a reputably company, I will inform everyone at Mcdill Air Force Base who it is and who not to have install your fence. read more
