I had been looking for a forklift in my area and online for a while. After physically looking at a couple, I decided I wanted to buy one from a company with a warranty etc. in the event that I get the machine on-site and have issues after the initial purchase. I had a checklist of the requirements that I needed and they were able to match it with a used unit they had in their inventory. I went and checked it out in person and was impressed with the selection and the professionalism of the staff and the facility. I decided to proceed with the purchase. They did a full service on it and called me when it was ready. It was delivered yesterday. This was a pretty big purchase so I appreciate the guidance. They made me wait for two hours to rent a pallet jack from them. And although I wasn't paying for it, and was getting paid to just be there...waiting, and waiting, and waiting, I still felt like I'd been screwed. They promised one price for a rental and then changed it to a much higher price once I was there. The employees were generally nice I guess, but the whole experience was terrible. Anyone who can actually do anything seems to be in meetings at this place, and you've got to sign an NDA (I'm not kidding!) to even get anyone to pay attention to you. I called to get a service over the phone and I was told that the service call would cost 75$ and that labor and parts would cost seperate. That was fine, I gave them the green light. The tech was only at my warehouse for one hour and didn't even fix the problem and didn't even know what the problem was. They send me a ridiculous quote for the job and they charge my card 383.00 without authorization or informing me OR without an invoice. I had to call the bank to stop the payment. the manager Ed, with whom I spoke with told me "John is not authorized to give a price over the phone and if you dont have it in writing I can't help you" The worst service I have ever received and I even got the job done with HALF the quoted price. if I could give -5 stars I would. Terrible customer service. Way too much to complain about. Maintenance was over priced and nothing was really done. On their inspect sheet, must not be for the public eye, that they sent me (probably in error) it has things for the maintenance like "remove competitors stickers" and "put their key-chain on". Had them come out to replace a blown hose a few weeks after maintenance was done (knew about the issue so not their fault for the blown hose) and was assured it could be fixed on site or they'd get me a quote for a rental forklift ASAP. Technician came out and didn't do anything and said they can't do hoses in the field. Emailed them about that and where was my rental quote. Now it's been a week with no forklift at my business and still no quote or response from them. I was emailed that a manager would get back with me on my customer services issues, but still no response or quote for rental forklift. Contacted another company. Hopefully I'll have better luck. read more

We ordered some shelving and had a very difficult time working with Big Joe. Their scheduled delivery kept getting pushed back and they had to come at least 3 separate times to deliver missing or incorrect parts from our order. Sometimes they just wouldn't show up at all and no one would call us to let us know. This lack of communication and follow through caused many unnecessary headaches while we were moving our business. I must admit, our company was extremely furious and frustrated upon purchasing a Kalmar forklift from big joe. We saw an ad on CL posted by their marketing department and decided to buy it from sales person Ramil. I was advised NOTHING was wrong with it and is running great. I am no expert at forklifts or aware of any complications that can arise. Upon purchasing it was leaking, emitted a really strong sulfur smell, wouldn't start and just a bunch of problems. We really did not sign up for this as before the sale was finalized I had advised Brad from big joe " Please don't sell me this if something is wrong with it" It had broken down many times after the first week of purchase and caused everyone in our company severe migraines from the issues. We weren't able to help customers load and unload inventory and I nearly broke my arm by helping customers manually load boxes and boxes of cargo. What made me purchase the forklift in the first place was a 30 day warranty backed by Brad. I had checked with several other companies and all their used forklift sales are " As is" condition and I did not want to get screwed. We called Big Joe, the staffs that answered the phone were really accommodating and understood our frustration. Brad, the manager sent a technician out to fix it I think his name was James. He fixed the forklift and it was running well.. for like two days ... and then the same problem happened again. We had called Brad again about the situation, they sent a driver to pick up the forklift and repair it, we must've of went back and forth 3 times because we kept sending it back cause it just wasn't functioning properly. Brad lent us a temporarily forklift to drive before while the were fixing it. Even though the first transaction didn't go very smoothly, what I admire was Brad's customer service. Brad was extremely accommodating even though he is very busy. This is exactly how you should do business in America. Not only was he patient and understood our frustration, in the end they end up replacing our forklift with another forklift that runs extremely well. They even sent a follow up technician named Han's to take a look at it before everything was finalized. This whole process took about two weeks. Brad went above and beyond to make sure we were happy in the end, regardless of the time it look, we greatly appreciate it. Many other business will just leave you in the dirt and move on and not pickup your phone calls after the sale is made. Brad's post sale attitude remained equally positive. They are an extremely busy company but in the end they handled this discrepancy very well. Thank you Brad and Big Joe we will be returning when we get our second warehouse situated! read more

If you're planning to get your forklift serviced here, DON"T. We went through hell with them. Every time it's more money for the same fix. They charge to send out a tech just to see what they fixed last time and will charge you again to fix the same issue. I had a coolant leak that I called them for. Cost me over $3000. It came back and had the same problem 1 month later. Called them back and they tried to charge me for another service fee. Tech came and looked at the forklift for like 5 minutes and left. Charge for that was $564.52. I had to dispute the charge since it was the same issue. They took my lift back and claimed that it's not related to the original fix and that it would cost me another $4500 to fix. I just paid $3000 for a coolant leak and now they want me to pay another $4500 for the same thing! Outrageous! After arguing with them, they finally agreed to fix it for no charge. Got it back and the same thing happened again 2 weeks later. Called them and they picked it up for repairs again. This time it took them over a month to fix. Claiming that they had to order parts. You would think that this will be it. No more issues. WRONG! I have 3 forklift at my shop. We don't use them, that often. I got the fork lift back on September of 2021. Probably put in a good 10 hours of use. Last week, it leaked again. I called them and they said the warranty was 3 months only. Imagine me paying that $4500 just to hear this. Now they want to charge me another $564.52 to have their technician come out to check the same issue. A leak. Same spot. Head gasket. Unbelievable. They claimed that they order new parts for the last fix, which was why it took them so long. I'm having a different company fixing it this time and will take pictures before the fix to see if they are telling the truth. Doesn't make any sense to pay them to fix an issue and have to pay them again to fix the same issue. They claimed that they had the manager, Art Lontoc, head of repairs, personally fixed it. Guess what, Art is no longer with them. Now i'm paying a different company to fix this issue. Their estimate was half of what Big Joe originally estimated. DON'T use BIG JOE for any of your fork lift service. They don't know what they're doing and they will over charge you for anything and everything. Be warned. read more

The company I work for, Russell Pacific, LLC, was in the process of looking for selective racking. We don't have the biggest warehouse but Brad (VP Sales) treated us like we were their biggest customer. The delivery driver, Donovan, did a wonderful job upon delivering the material. He was polite, respectful and was cautious when handling the material being delivered. The installation crew, Jose and Dameon, were very professional and excellent to deal with. They installed our selective racking in a matter of hours and ensured it was setup the way we wanted. The administrative sales assistant, Kristina, was fantastic! She was very cooperative and understanding with all the different changes to our sales order. We did have two minor issues with Big Joe Handling Systems. The first minor issue was that we didn't receive our first sales order back in a timely manner. The second minor issue was that upon delivery, we received "used" beams instead of the "new" beams that we originally purchased. However, anytime we called, Brad was always very patience, understanding and great to communicate with concerning our issues. Brad has ensured that we were taken care of by listening and offering solutions to fix the situations. Overall Experience: SUPERB! They should call themselves "Big Jerks"! If they can screw things up they will. I made the mistake of calling them when my forklift died and asked for a truck to push it back into the warehouse to charge. Instead they sent some kid who laughed at me and said he could not help, never saw this before and told me he had no idea what I should do. Then I get sent a bill for 275.00 for the "visit". I'll never contact them again. Every job they have ever done with me has ended up in a mess. They reconfigured our warehouse incorrectly and managed to completely ruin our warehouse floors. They care nothing of long term customers and if you are a woman who might be in a jam and need some help these are the last people on earth who will care. read more

Big Joe tried to rip us off. We bough an electric pallet jack there a few years ago, and then called them when it wouldn't turn on. They refused to offer us any help over the phone but said they could come out and take a look for around $500 including travel time. We brought the unit to them instead, where they said it needed new batteries as well as some new wheels. They quoted $655 for the labor. When I asked for a breakdown, they immediately back tracked and offered to do a new quote. I had never had anyone be so quick to lower their labor estimate. They didn't even attempt to justify their first estimate because it was so outrageous. I'm pretty sure they just made up a number. The revised quote was around $400 which still seemed crazy for changing batteries and wheels. We went and picked up the unit and decided to do the work ourselves. When we started to change the batteries, we noticed that a wire had become disconnected. So the batteries were fine. All the unit needed was a wire replace. So they were going to charge us for 4 new batteries (they wanted $50 each more than they are available elsewhere) plus over 2 hours labor to change the batteries when it was a bad wire. Either they never tested the batteries and are lazy and incompetent or they were just lying. Either way, I won't be bringing anything to them again. They tried to rip us off, but instead just wasted our time. Don't go there read more

If you like getting bend over for forklift service this is the place to call! They will for sure do the job! Tech was at our place for 20 mins, according to the check-in/check-out time on the paperwork they sent us and our security cameras. Sent me a bill for travel time, plus an hour & half labor, plus field service call, plus fuel, plus a surcharge for misc. supplies such a lube, grease, brake cleaner, etc... This call was for an estimate only and the tech took pictures and did a "walk around". My invoice over 450.00 for literally no work except coming to our facility. The quote for repairs was OUTRAGEOUS! They quoted 850.00 for a new seat that can be purchased online for 199.00 (highest price I found) Had it replaced with labor for 400.00. We purchased a forklift from El Dorado 2 years ago. We decided to have Big Joe do our service on the forklift because we just purchased some pallet racks from them. The mechanic showed up, took 10 minutes to look at our forklift and then said he could service it but we really should replace it. He then started down the road of telling me there was a rod knock and the tires needed new tread........bottom line, we have a hydraulic fitting that needed to be tightened and the knock was a valve not a rod and after adjustment went away.
