I stopped at this Family Dollar to pick up a few personal items and some snacks for the weekend as soon as I got out of my car the stares that I received from the local residence Penetrated through my soul, you would've thought that they have never seen a Beautiful black Woman before or that I should not be there. All five white local residence or if they were residences eyes followed me from my car into the store. They literally stopped in their track as soon as I entered the Dollar store. I thought I would be greeted with the same hello welcome to Family Dollar, like the young lady before me, the white lady at the register looked at me in discussed like I stole her lunch, or I smelled like boo-boo. I was walking through the aisles, placing my items into the cart Not only did one of the employees follow me, but one of the local residents followed me up each aisle, very slowly, not purchasing anything not grabbing anything. The slower that I walked he act as if he was looking at something but staring at me the whole time from the corners of his eyes. I am a 5"7, 190 pounds black woman I wore a cream colored spiritual shirt with some army fatigue, pants and some cream, colored sneakers, shopping alone just minding my business. This is not the first time that this has happened in this town. But moving forward, the 6 foot 4 280 pound white man followed me all the way to the register after picking up a beverage I was in the store, maybe 10 minutes at the most when we had approached the register. He literally stood 6 feet from me as if I had a disease when I approached the register I thought I would be greeted by hello did you find everything you were looking for but instead I placed my items on the counter as the employee placed her cellular device to her right every item that she scanned, she literally threw each and every one of my items in each bag as if they did something to her. I ask the manager politely, remind you, she never gave me any eye contact. I asked her did they sell duffel bags I couldn't even get the word duffel bag out of my mouth before she said no we don't. I've even said "thank you". she literally said "yeah". SMH. One of the items that I purchased was children's Allegra. She then called for a manager because I had already known she was supposed to ask me for my birthdate, but instead she whispered something to her manager and asked for a BD and price override, the Manager said "just put any birthdate in" as if I weren't standing there. All she had to do was ask me for my birthday. What made it so bad she literally ripped my bags from the bag holder and drop them on the counter when she tallied up all of my items she told me the price. But never once asked me how was I paying for the items. I paid with My debit card. Once my transaction was complete. I asked for a receipt the girl said "you can grab it" when I say I was so disgusted, uncomfortable, violated and disrespected, not only was my sister on the phone with me during all this, telling me to relax, you will not win and you will look like the aggressor if you say something. One of my purchase was a reusable bag so I stood maybe three or 4 feet from the register out of everyone's way to place all of my items in one large bag. The same white male walked to the register with his beverage and the girl greeted him with the biggest smile and asked him. "Did you find everything that you were looking for and she also greeted him with a hello" I looked back and asked her. "Why didn't you greet me" she literally ignored me. The white gentleman laughed as if I said something very funny. I took a few deep breaths, while my sister was begging me to leave the store immediately before I exploded......... As I were leaving the dollar store. The manager greeted a young white lady that was coming in as I were leaving out and said "welcome to family Dollar let me know if you need anything". SMDH. This is not the first time that Ive experienced something like this here in Pottsville and it may not be the last. I can't even ask. Why is this still happening with black and brown people? I don't get it but it is sad sick and horrible. I will never visit the store again. What makes matters worse. Is that My black African-American brother has lived in this town Pottsville Pennsylvania for the past 17 years.

Said I should have called ahead and ordered it when I explained I was simply driving through Pa and needed some helium. The whole situation was extremely laughable, the poor kid at the register and the 3 customers behind me were actually laughing and in shock in what was happening. After 5 minutes of basically pleading with her (it could've been done by then) she agreed to do it only if I would tie the balloon knots and string!! At that point I did not care and I paid to have this insane woman inflate a couple of balloons while I was put to work knotting and tying string. I've never had such a terrible experience, I'm from NJ so maybe I'm not accustomed to Pa Family Dollar rules and regulations but my god was this the worst experience ever. I can easily go to any other dollar store and will avoid all Family Dollars from this point on. Absolutely unprofessional behavior especially for a manager.

I wasn't inspecting much based upon the other reviews…read more There's nowhere to eat in this mall- I saw a mini arcade, a nail place with no customers, a T Mobile with no customers. a Dunham Sports store I didn't go in. I have to say the Boscovs is nice. There is a Michaels craft store that's pretty nice. There is a beautiful bright tj maxx and a decent Kohls although I haven't been loving much at Kohls lately. I do like this Kohls because they still seem to have a decent pedestrian jewelry section. The other kohls I've visited have ripped out the lower end jewelry area to add Sephora cosmetics. I won't bother coming back bcs Laurel Mall is closer and more occupied. Very sad to see our malls like a ghost town.

Fairlane Village Mall is complicated. As a functioning mall, Fairlane's time is over. Only a few…read morestores are left in the malls remaining interior portion, as several left during and after the malls 2020 COVID-19 shutdown. These stores were never replaced and more have left since. The interior of the mall is nice and clean despite being almost empty. Fairlane's interior also has limited evening hours and is not open late. As a shopping center, Fairlane has a good selection of stores including Kohl's, Michaels, TJ Maxx, Dunham's Sports, Dollar Tree, and one of the largest Boscov's in the chain. Fairlane's future will more than likely revolve around more de-malling and repurposing of mall space. There is demand for a movie theater in the area since the closing of Pearl Theatre at the Schuylkill Mall, and the area still seemingly has demand for more retail. With the addition of TJ Maxx and the paving of the parking lot, it's obvious the mall isn't going anywhere, and the owners are still investing in Fairlane. Now the question is how useful can the existing vacant space be.

I called, hoping for an answer to my question. I called not once, not twice, not three times, not four, not five, and not 6. But 7 whole times, and finally got an answer, but transferred to the electronics center. All that just to get NO answer. Ive never been let down more in my life. I am very upset and expected more from a place which meant so much to me at a point. All those purchases down the drain once i saw how rude the employers could be, to a regular like me. I am disappointed , distraught, and deranged. This has been keeping me up all day. I havent sleep in almost a week now. Please do better
