Always have bought my tires from Big O. Took my car in to have a flat repaired and they fixed it for free! Will keep coming back

I never thought that I would write a review about something that didn't involve food. As it turns out, this one eventually did; more on that later.... Since I became a real grownup and started buying cars that lasted longer than the tires that came with them, I've come to rank the tire buying experience among the least pleasant things I can think of. My first few sets of tires after I moved to our great burg (I used to log 35K for work) were purchased from Discount Tire. You know, the place that has the TV ad of the Granny throwing the tire through their store window. Well, after I got tired of the bait & switch sales, super long waits for install & "free rotations" and tires that never lived up to the hype, I decided to get over the name and try Big O Tires. Wow! Fast service, good prices and tires that have outperformed the Michelin, Continentals and Bridgestones I've tried - now my rides all sport the Big O! I inherited a car from out of state about a year ago and it had Big O's on it. I took it to the W. 86th location and asked for a rotation and balance which they readily performed even though I wasn't the original owner and they were installed in another state. After the rotation one of the tires seemed to have a leak; I took it back after a few weeks and they checked it out. I was sure that the leak was caused by an improper balancing job, cynic that I am. After they graciously fixed it and showed me the nail that they extracted (dang, it looks like the one I left laying on the floor of the garage!) they declined to charge me for the repair. When I decided to replace the two older tires they filled all with nitrogen - a $60.00 value elsewhere! I thought they were merely good but yesterday they topped my wildest tire store dreams. It's been cold - single digit cold - and one of the tires on the car my kids drive looked kind of low but I thought it would come back up when it warmed up. As it turns out, before they even made it off our street the next morning to go to school (6:30 a.m.), the tire was blown and they were riding on the rim. After shuttling them to N.C. and putting the doughnut spare on, I called Big O to check the schedule. When I told them what happened they said "sounds like a warranty issue", I said "well, you should look at it first"; we took the car over and I gave them the receipt (3 weeks until the 3 year warranty expired) and they said again "probably a warranty issue" - without looking at the tire! "Are you sure?" - "Definitely Warranty". We brought the car in around 2:30 and also asked for an oil change (about $20.00 less than Jiffy Lube). Even though it was pretty busy they said it should be finished by closing time. The wife and I went back a bit before 7:00 and even though it was just about closing time, they were going to stay late to get the job done. I told them to go home to their families and we'd pick it up the next day. When we went the next day, they gave me the ticket and said I was good to go. "Wait" I said, "let me pay you for the oil change at least" - "Merry Christmas" was their reply. Sorry for such a long post, but I just had to tell this story. Here's where the food comes in: After I went home I called Monical's Pizza across 86th Street @ Traders Point and sent over a pie to tide them over till closing... After already traveling from West Virginia, my boyfriend's Lincoln Navigator blew its rear airbags, essentially the shocks. Josiah and crew were so extremely helpful and professional that they even stayed late during Labor Day weekend to help us. We were able to make it to California a few days later but they started us on the right track. Thanks guys!! read more

The service at this Tire shop is Outstanding! I go to this Big O Tires on 86th street for everything my car needs. It's conveniently next to I465. Derek and Tim make my life easier with all my car stuff. I eat lunch at the Taco Bell next door while waiting. It's decent. I've bought tires, and they gave me the best price available anywhere, I researched first. They offer Nitrogen inflation which I use and never have to touch my tire pressure. They've fixed my flat tire on another car for Free, FREE (yes, really). They Checked my steering alignment, and didn't charge me because no adjustment was needed. I really appreciate their honesty to not sell me something I don't need. Mike changed my oil so I'm ready for another 5,000 miles. I used to hate dealing with auto shops but these guys are like a painless Dentist. Highly Recommended by me. 2016 read more

I cannot even explain how appreciative I am of Derek and his team at Big O. I had a flat so bad that the tire fell off the rim. Then the rim was stuck on. Everyplace wanted $75+mileage to tow. I could only afford a tow or a new tire until payday. Derek came over (across the street) and got the rim off and my spare on! (Tricks of the trade, I guess.) That is beyond what he needed to do. He could have easily reffered me to a tow company. Once my car was in their hands, they completed the work quickly and professionally. Stopped by today to get tires rotated and balance per my agreement on purchase of 4 tires. Friendly enough did explain there were new owners but they would honor the free balance and rotation. I watch as they removed tires balanced the two they took off the back and mounted on the front. I asked the manager why he didn't balance all four has had be done on previous visits "when it's a free rotation and balance we only balance the ones moved to the front". However he told me he would balance the other two if I requested it. Not sure why the change Got in vehicle and drive down the street to a discount tire and had them check air in all four tires 27, 34,43 and 45 lbs???? I called manager and he told me he would talk to the installer??? I've purchased tires from both big o and discount over the years- bottom line my opinion Discount Tire is the better place to buy tires on the north west side of Indianapolis read more

These guys are great! Friendly, knowledgable and extremely accommodating. The manager is a great guy and will do everything he can to get you back on the road at the best possible price. If you need a tune up, engine check, tires, or anything else take your car truck or van to these guys. read more

This shop has been nothing but wonderful and accommodating. I've gone there three times now for tire issues, oil changes, brakes and more. They are HONEST people, which I appreciate more than anything in the car business. They fix what needs fixed, but don't screw you over with price, or by "fixing" something that doesn't need it. They don't try to up-sell you on anything you don't want/need, but have great opinions and suggestions when you're unsure. They will definitely keep my business. read more

I was driving on 465 and caught a flat that was going quickly. I barely made it to the store, and received the best customer service I have experienced in some time. They were some how able to repair the tire and had me on my way in 30 minutes. I will now use Big O for any and all services they provide. They have made me a customer for life. read more

Do not let this shop align your vehicle! I have been a mechanic for fourty years. I completely rebuilt the front end of my Chevy Blazer. Ball joints, tie rods, idler arm, and shocks. I don't have the capability to do my own front end alignment, so I took it to Big O on West 86th St. Their alignment rack makes a before/after printout. They did not adjust the caster and camber. All they did was adjust the toe. Even driving it home it didn't feel right. My wife said it scared her when she drove it. When I got back under it, I found that the right upper control arm adjustment cam was loose! When you drove it, the suspension parts were moving, charging every setting This could cause 1) bad tire wear. 2) unpredictable steering and possibly 3) and accident. I tightened down the loose adjuster and took it back. The service manager apologized and told me he'd take care of it. I told him it was a car I was fixing up for my daughter, so take as long as you need. He called me later that day and said it was done. Yet again, the alignment printout showed that they didn't adjust caster and camber, just the toe in. They gave me the proof in writing that they didn't do what they charged me for. I can let it sit until I can take it to a competent shop. Can you? It WILL cause accelerated tired were. It IS causing the car to drive funny. It could cause an accident. I went there to have my trailer tires replaced, dropped off the trailer, tires and paid them guys. 30 minutes after, they call me and told me they can't do it because my trailer was too heavy! My trailer didn't even have any load in it! They told me their axle will break with that kind of weight! Are they kidding me??? Their manager, Tim, is incompetent, very unhelpful. I already paid and why couldn't they tell me that beforehand? They totally wasted my time going back and forth! What kind of tire company are they if they can't even replace tires on my trailer???? read more

got my tires put on, got a call from them about needing brakes. said I needed rotors pads, etc and it would cost $440. They said the rotors were grooved, etc and needed replacement. I thought their price was too high. I said no, took my car to another shop that said they could do it for $240. Got a call from them saying I didn't need rotors. That they were fine and could be turned. Big O lost me as a customer. No trust left there... read more

Here's an update to my original review... when I asked the inept mechanics at Big O what happened to the missing piece of the sensor that they broke, they told me, "I don't know, we couldn't find it". Well, I found it! When I was rolling the wheels/tires, to move them in my garage, I could hear the big old broken piece of the sensor bouncing around inside the tire! Idiots! I curse them every time I drive my truck, as I have to look at the bright yellow TPMS warning indicator on the dash!!! read more

On the positive side, the mechanic here was the only one to discover the true grinding noise on my car and accurately recommend a repair. Unfortunately, the store ordered the wrong part three times and my car was finally repaired two weeks after the original diagnosis read more

I was visiting relatives in Indiana and stopped at Arby's for dinner. When I tried to leave, my car wouldn't start. Big O Tires was across the street so I ran over and even though they had just closed, they came over to look at it. They got my car to start, but brought it over to the shop to test it and make sure everything was ok. They discovered that my battery needed to be replaced, and even though it was half an hour after closing, they graciously stayed to make sure my car was running fine. I have been a long time Big O brand supporter but today has definitely made me reconsider. I recently began working on this side of town after spending a long time in Mooresville (that location is top notch). I walked in and asked how long the wait was going to be. The guy behind the desk informed me that it would be 45-60 minutes. To which I asked "To get the car in or to get the oil change finished. He responded "to get it finished." "That's fine," I said and handed over the keys. He asked "are you going to wait or leave and come back?" I responded that I would wait but needed to go get lunch. So I went to get lunch. A half hour later I returned and waited for another hour before realizing that they hadn't even started work on the 3 individuals in front of me. At this point I decided to leave. When I went to ask for my keys I noticed that he had put that he had promised my car to me by 5:00 PM. Obviously, he had no intention of getting my car done in the 45-60 minutes. Before I went in, I called and talked to someone about my check engine light being on, as well as needing an oil change. I've been to this place before and have had no issues previously. Again, before I went, I called and talked to someone because I had previously had a diagnostic test ran on my car and it said I needed a new O2 sensor & the correct one to buy, so I did so. I called around different places and most said they could not put a part in bought elsewhere, they would have to order it. I completely understand that but when I called here they said to bring it in, they would run their own test, change my oil, and if this was the right part I needed, only charge me for an hour of labor for this and if I needed something else, he would call and we could go from there. He said he usually changes a minimum of 1.5 hours, but since I was getting my oil changed too, he would cut me a deal, which was very nice. I called back again to double check since other places were saying otherwise and I was told the same thing again. I wish I could remember his name, but unfortunately I cannot. On December 15th I arrived around 4 o'clock to leave my car for the weekend or however long they needed, which I was told to do as well. Upon arrival I was greeted by a man named Rich. He said hello how are you and seemed very nice at first. As soon as I told him what was going on, things change. I told him what I was told and what was going on with my car. He proceeded to ask me twice who I spoke with in a very condescending way and I told him twice, I could not remember. I asked for his name because I thought maybe it could be him, and he said well my name is Rich, but that does not matter because I've only been here 3 days, again in a very rude way. He took the sensor and asked was it front or back. I told him I did not know because I don't know much about cars, but when I talked to the previous person there, he said they would run their own test to make sure. He rolled his eyes multiple times and said, "well if you want us to do that, it will be an extra $100." I said okay but the last guy said it was included. He proceeded to talk over me and yell to Tim across the way and ask how much a diagnostic test was. Tim said it was no charge and Rich rolled his eyes again and said "that's stupid." He continued to look at the part and my account and I said I also have this coupon for money off I got from coming here last time, could I use this? He rolled his eyes again and said, "I presume so." After this he said, "well just so you know me putting this part in will not fix your check engine light and I'm assuming you just want this done right now this late on a Friday?" I said no I came to leave it so no rush and why would it not fix anything? He then snarled and rolled his eyes and said, "I don't know, haven't looked at your car yet!" In a very loud, demeaning way. I then said you have been nothing but rude and condescending this entire time, so I will be taking my business elsewhere. He said, "M'am come on, I've been very fair." Again trying to talk over me. I repeated myself, took my stuff and left. I have never felt so disrespected and belittled in my life. My father and I have both tried to reach the manager and got the answer "he's busy or not in" for the last week. We will keep trying until we reach someone and will be reviewing this location on every site and platform I can find. I will never ever return here for business and I hope they can get better employees that know how to be respectful. read more

I will definitely come back to this location. Tim and Derek were the sweetest guys ever and were more than happy to help me out. I went to get my tires changed around 1:00 one day and had to be at work by 5:00. I was informed that there was a 3-4 hour wait but I desperately needed my tires changed that day due to the first snow. I asked them if I would be able to pay over the phone once they finished my with my car and just pick it up the next day so I could make it to work on time (a friend picked me up and took me home). They were so accommodating and nice about it, especially when I forgot to call them during work to pay for my service. I ended up going back in the morning to pay for it and pick it up and they were both so kind to me and didn't mind that I forgot to call at all. They were even nice enough to give me a little discount for my trouble. They are also the kind of people who will remember you by name! I will definitely be coming back here for car service in the future. read more

I took my Suburu outback 2014 for a nail in my tire. I had to leave it. While they had it they dropped off the lift. This resulted in well above 2500.00 plus damages to which they said oh get estimates and we will take care of. Once i did this (on my time off work w/o pay) and submitted 3 estimates to them they want me to take it elsewhere where they wanted it repaired. I refused and ran thru my insurance company and let them fight under supererogation. The claim has been paid and the basic rental fee but I needed a car comparable to my Suburu i paid the extra above the $30.00 a day. My husband suffers from Parkinson and I am unable to get him in a vehicle not comparable to my Suburu. I should not be penalized for there carelessness. I took a newer car there and came out with a damage car. I insisted on OEM parts and was willing to accept the least estimate (which i did) they should not be fighting to cover the extra expense of the rental that was comparable to my car that was taken there. Accidents happen--that is what we all pay insurance for--consumers be aware. BE CAREFUL WHERE YOU TAKE YOUR CAR I was an innocent victim that took her car there for service. I did not try to make any gain on this i just needed to recoup ALL my out of pocket expenses. read more
