Yesterday my husband and I went to Big Reds in Lunenburg. Years ago when it was in Lunenburg it was one of the best restaurants in Lunenburg but yesterday We did not have a good meal .We went at 12 noon for Lunch and we wanted coffee and we could not get any we were told it was not set up , the place opened at 11:00 and you still did not have the coffee on. we both ordered donair subs with the works ,when we got them they had no tomatoes and no onions on the subs.To me donairs have tomatoes and onions .We will never buy them again.I will say the waitress was very nice. read more

I've been waiting years for one of my favorite restaurants in Lunenburg to come back..... and this year on my birthday all I wanted was Big Reds pizza. unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. we waited 2 hours for our pizza (staff claimed it was really busy but it wasn't). it had the skinniest sliced hotdogs on it that I didn't even know they were there, they didn't put the pineapple on it, and the pizza dough was so undercooked that it was a sloppy mess to eat. the fries with the order were barely cooked and almost forgotten. the only good thing was the pizza sauce was still the best thing ever. read more

I asked for a donair without the dough. The meat was dry and hard and I could crack it in half! I ate one bite, asked about the meat, she said it was because I didn't have he dough but it hadn't even been heated! They charged me the full price! Colour me unimpressed. read more

In town for a volleyball tournament with our daughter. 18 of us showed up Sunday morning at opening (11am). The waitress was great to deal with and the scenery was amazing. The food tasted delicious, however, there was issues with prioritizing the food. With 5 kids sitting I a booth, and all of the adults at a large table, many of the kids were the last to receive their food. The time to tool to get the food was understandable as there was only 1 cook on, but the kids should have been fed first. Other than that, it was a good experience. read more

I took the combination platter and my grandson took a combination 4 pizza. The onion rings were not fried enough and the chicken nuggets were really cheap and baked. Scallops were a bit over fried. The pizza was really good for the price (13$ for a personal ~8"-10") It had a wide range of toppings to choose from. The iced tea was quite bitter, so you should add some sugar if you are to take some. I wouldn't go back for seafood. read more

This place is great! My friends and I stopped in for lunch on a day trip to see the town. The fish and chips were delicious and so was the chowder. Reasonable prices and good portions. Service was excellent, super friendly. A+++ view over the harbour. read more

We have been going to Big Red's since the day it opened in Lunenburg many years ago (35+ years). On Feb 24, 19 we decided to order the special (buy 1 large 16"round, get the 2nd half off) for take out. (one chicken, the 2nd,the works). When my husband picked them up the bill was $50. even. My husband even asked the person about the price, then asked for a take out menu, which she said, they don't have any!! I said to my husband, that is the last time we go to BIG RED's. I know the building was just sold, and if the new owner's put up the prices like that, good luck to them! They just lost our business and all our friends, that live in the area. Hopefully they can rip off the tourists in the summer, to keep them open. read more

Years ago, I used to like Big Reds for their pizzas as my mom used to work there. Their pizzas used to be good until they've changed over the years. For some reason, they've added this sauce that is spicy for some unknown reason. I've had several pizzas there before and noticed how much they've changed. Although, their fish n' chips are still good and so is the coleslaw that goes with it. The pain problem for me is the pricing of several menu items for Big Reds. I mean, their pizza is expensive for something that is below-average. And, even their clubhouse sandwich is too expensive in my opinion. Oh well, at least Big Reds has a great view and still has some good food items like the previously mentioned fish n' chips. Big Reds gets 2 stars out of 5 because their fish and chips and is the redeeming factor of this restaurant. There are other pizza places to go to in Lunenburg if you want great pizza. However, if you want great fish n' chips in Lunenburg, this is the place to go. read more

This place has a great location on the Lunenburg waterfront but seems past it's prime. The decor was tired and dated and a bit dirty. The food while descent was only average in quality and value. The staff was very friendly and helpful though. read more

We are regulars here - this is our favorite restaurant in Lunenburg! Pizza is great, love Big Reds sweet pizza sauce! The establishment is quite dated when it comes to their decor, but don't let this fool you... The food is great! Many tourists stop in here for the fantastic view of the harbour and waterfront. I return for the food and fantastic service! Give them a try next time you're in Lunenburg... I'm sure you'll be glad you did. Note: if you are in Chester Basin on your way to Lunenburg - this one is much better, at least for service anyway! The Chester area location has rotten customer service every time that I've been there... It was so unacceptable the last time that I called the manager and will never return there again. read more

Food was good, prices were great, service was good too. We had a great view of the harbour area. Decor is a little tired and dated, but would still go again - this is the place to go if you're looking for something decent, fast, and not too expensive. read more
