Lower prices and good selection, maybe more plain. We got a sweatshirt good quality. Bright yellow bag so everyone knows you're cheap! ;0)

I know we all have our different experiences when visiting touristy places. Unfortunately for the manager/owner, he was giving a lot of terrible experiences in the same day for everyone in the store, and people walking by to witness. While my family and I (and other people) were in the store he decided to close 15 minutes early. He was extremely rude to the customers, and would yell and curse at them when they would ask questions. My mom experienced this herself, and ended up leaving the store because she accidentally pissed this guy off so bad, all because she asked him questions about his flawed products. He started cursing at her, dropping the F word, throwing and slamming things around. While I was at check out, (which was still five minutes before the store closed) a lady stepped in and asked just to buy a shot glass that she had her eye on real quick. He stormed over to her and yelled "No! We are closed and I have my shipment to deal with!" Then shooed her away, and slammed the door. I reluctantly bought a coffee mug, but was so regretful that he got my money. About 15 minutes later as my family and I were walking by the store again, another lady was asking for help from this guy about a product she bought from him. We were across the street but could hear him yelling and screaming at her, and then saw him physically shove her out the door. We later spoke with this lady, and she said that he agreed to help her, but the next thing she knew she was getting yelled and screamed at, he put his hands on her and shoved her out the door. Anyone visiting Mackinac Island, I strongly suggest just to avoid this store. There are many other stores with the same or much better products. For example, the coffee mug I bought was being sold in other stores, for a little bit more, but I feel paying five or six dollars more is worth it. And you won't have to deal with verbal and physical abuse like you will at The Big Store. read more

This place is really the best source on the entire island for souvenirs. I bought a cap and shirt for myself and my son back in 2017 and they are both great quality and have held up well even today, 5 years later. A couple of weeks back, we went to the Big Store again, after visiting many other shops, and again, they have the best bargains on quality merchandise. I bought another cap and another shirt and both are good quality and both were half the price of other shops. Never encountered this "grumpy old man" person on either trip that has been mentioned in other reviews. We went in twice on the recent trip and this store really has the best bargains island-wide. read more

We had a bad experience with the owner/manager. We were in the check out line when at the last moment decided to not purchase a couple of shirts (we had many items in our hands). When my wife told the guy, he flipped and said very loudly "Why would you do this to me." At first I thought he was joking, but he proceeded to drop F-bombs and such. It was very embarrassing and at the end of the day, it ruined a good day we were having up to that point. I recommend to deposit your money somewhere else. read more
