We got food from Big Wave Burritos due to the proximity to our rental. It was mostly a disappointment. We don't get Mexican food more than once during our stay so I don't have anything recent to compare it to. However, we went to Key West Tacos last year and enjoyed the food and atmosphere much more. My first time at big wave was very good, I got the nachos and I really enjoyed them. The second time I went today with my friends, we found 2 hairs in the nachos and 2 hairs in the G's crunch wrap that we ordered. Great little burrito/taco spot right on the way in/out of Cape May. CASH ONLY. Cool, laid back atmosphere with surfboards lining the ceiling, reggae rock on the speakers, and surfing videos on the tv. Food is consistent in quality and freshness. Staff is always pleasant, friendly, accommodating, and upfront about wait time for food. Food is made to order, so it can take a few minutes longer than you'd expect, but it is definitely worth the wait. They do $2 dollar tacos on tuesdays which is great. The tacos are incredible. Beef, chicken, and steak tacos are topped with sour cream, cheese, corn, lettuce, tomato and the ingredients are incredibly fresh. The fish tacos have an awesome sauce on them, and the chicken nachos are gigantic. Some people are complaining about price... it's Cape May, everything is expensive, and it's better than the other taco place on the island. read more

Only ate here once and there probably wont be a second time. The 3 corn hard tacos I had were barely ok. The shells all seemed stale and everything inside them was uninspired and tasteless. The only exception was the fish in the fish taco. It didnt really have much flavor but atleast the fish was cooked well and juicy. The portion was a bit small too especially for the $12 bill (including an ice tea). I liked the decor: surfer theme with surfboards everywhere, bamboo walls and surfer videos on the tv. The staff seemed kind of disinterested overall. I found it strange that nobody asked me anything (about the food or anything else) once. At the risk of being judgemental, it felt a bit like a Southern California (SoCal) wannabe place. I've had better Mexican food at the Jersey Shore. Hey for a little taco/buro place This was Great. I walked in very skeptical coming from California as lucky to have has some great tacos and burritos. I came here wanting to support local business and try something new. I've been coming to Cape May for 5 years now and have never gone to this location until this summer. I got a chicken burrito bowl with guac. It was terrible. Meat was soggy and tasted like cardboard- definitely microwaved. Cheese tasted like a Kraft mix (probably was) and guacamole tasted like it was out of a plastic container (probably was as well). I wish I was able to give this place a better review but I wouldn't go again and don't recommend. read more

Delicious burritos & tacos, but I have to say that the cheese quesadilla is divine! If you love gooey melty cheese like I do, you will be in heaven while eating it. Everything here is fresh and tasty. The decor is fun, with lots of interesting artwork on the walls and there are surfboards on the ceiling. Best tacos I ever had. Amazing. Our first stop when we get into Cape May. Freshest ingredients, great homemade chips. My only suggestion would be to eat them there! They are amazing but reheated not so much. I miss these tacos when I am home away from the shore! The atmosphere is awesome, spacious, clean and a lot of cool art for purchase on the walls and the ceiling is covered in surfboards. Food was AMAZING. girl at the counter was nothing but rude. over charged me for my food. didn't realize till i got home and looked at the receipt. asked for mango salsa, yelled and said i was looking at the wrong menu instead of politely they no longer have it. I asked for chips and salsa, but changed my mind and wanted guacamole and she rolled her eyes at me and huffed and puffed. Great food! We stopped here on a whim after being told the wait at the other restaurant would be 45 minutes. The decor was fun, the people were nice and then BOOM the best burritos we've ever had. No..seriously. We've had burritos in New York, San Diego, and Mexico itself but these burritos were better. We couldn't put our finger on it, but whatever the chef is doing, he's doing it right. Headed out in Cape May not sure where to eat but ran across this gem. Full menu, fast service and excellent food. We had steak burritos which were bursting with ingredients and flavor. Chicken quesadillas were basic yet full of flavor. Vegetarian fajitas did not disappoint. The guacamole was some of the best we have ever had. Excellent choice for take out or eat it! When this restaurant first opened, I was a fan. But then the food and especially the service got progressively worse. There is no air conditioning in this restaurant and it is unbearably hot inside. We carried out. On one occasion I asked for guacamole on my Burrito Bowl. Drove home but there was none. A month later, I called repeatedly only to get a busy signal. I finally drove to the restaurant. There was no one inside. I asked if their phone could possibly be off the hook. The cashier looked down and said "oh!" and put the phone back on the hook. I was then told they were very busy and it would be an hour wait for food. I left. I went a third time and the chicken was dried out and cold-- clearly old and reheated. Then I had a good meal. But tonight I went over the order THREE times on the phone. It was wrong when I got it home. My husband's meal was inedible. He took both meals back and the cashier rolled eyes at him when refunding his money. We are local. We will tell our friends and we will never return. There was one other family inside at 7:00 when I picked up the dinner. The front door was open to let in air because it had to be over 80degrees inside. Nice place. Mellow vibe with the surfboard ceiling and surf movies constantly playing, makes you feel like your in Hawaii. Great place to cool off from the beach with all there different smoothies.
