These guys run a quality gun shop. They have a huge inventory, are very knowledgeable, can answer any question with ease, and they carry interesting gun related accessories too. I went to them for the 2nd time for my CCW class. Once for a renewal and once for a new permit. I had a different instructor for each. Both instructors were equally engaging and know their stuff. I was dreading spending 2, 8-hour days, sitting through lectures (less the 4 hr portion when I shot the weapons I chose for my permit). The time went by quickly and even though I've had my CCW permit for many years, I learned a lot. Especially since California laws have changed. Every now and then I check in on the local gun stores in my area. The problem is always the same. The prices are too high. A Ruger Wrangler is a $200 gun. At this place $299.99. This is just one example, there are many more of guns marked up much higher than they should be. That's a hell of a markup. The staff seems friendly enough. But the prices are ridiculous. read more

Great selection ,(even though I'm a minor, with my dad((an adult)), and saw some firearms that I have so far only heard of until now, like the pump action .22LR rifle or shotgun, and the M1919 semiautomatic gun??? I am always dropping in to see any new or old guns and have bought quite a few new and used guns at Big Horn Gun shop plus have used there excellent gunsmith more than a few times. Anyway I stopped off on my way home today to browse around and see what they had and did notice this new Sig 380 238 with 1 extra 7 round magazine that they had but did not want to buy it right then. I did go home to check out specs and prices and I new that was going to be my new gun in the stable. I called Big Horn Guns back to see if they could match or beat prices with distributors on the internet and guess what, they did. Adam did me right! Nice feeling to keep the money in locally. Shortage of guns and ammo everywhere but I found what I wanted at Big Horn. I made my purchase and had a great purchasing experience. The next week I had a problem with the purchase. I was nervous about having to go back to the store, not knowing how the issue would be handled. Adam was fantastic. He realized what the problem was and resolved it, no questions asked. It was not a "no big deal" resolution for Big Horn. But they knew what the resolution should be and they did it. Even before the "issue", I liked dealing with everyone there and now I like this store even more! They are easy-going, honest, helpful and fun! Went here to have my sons trap shooting shotgun looked at because his instructor said it wasn't firing. They took it in and determined it was mostly stiff from being so new and to work the barrel to loosen it up. They didn't charge me for their time, which I fully expected. I was browsing while I waited and they have a very nice selection of used firearms, they're priced well and the couple of men working there were knowledgeable and professional. They also have a giant sweet dog that owns the floor. He was cute and well behaved but seemed to be there for an added measure of protection. Great thinking if that's true. I'm looking to price .22lr pistols. I have a friend who would like to own two. She's the manager of the park I live in. I can't tell her where to look at guns till I see I see prices. She is nervous about guns but i told her I would teach her how to shoot combat which is different than plinking. You will be teaching gun safety. for the two guns she buys. The reason for two guns? One by the bed and one by the desk. But how can I tell her to go to Big Horn when there are no gun to look at on line. Went in this afternoon looking to buy a shotgun to replace my old Remington 870. I made no fewer than 3 circuits of the counters, straining to look at the guns across the counter, craning my neck out in a vain effort to try and read the data on the tags from 5 feet away. I couldn't get anybody to help me out. Stood around another 5 minutes, wanting to spend money, while the employees shot the breeze and caught up on all the local gossip. I turned around and walked out. Will be giving my business to somebody who at least PRETENDS to want it. With customer-service attitudes like this, is it any wonder that so many gun stores have closed down? GO HERE FOR HOLSTERS!!! I bought a ruger sp101 .357 with a 2" barrel five months ago from Adam in this shop. Great man who wants everyone to enjoy the gun hobby! So today I walked in looking for a shoulder holster for the sp101. I have been to many sacramento gun stores and they did not have any. That I cannot BELIEVE! We live in a ccw friendly place (UNLIKE THE BAY AREA), yet no shoulder holsters at other Sacramento shops.... this place HAS AN ENTIRE WALL dedicated to CCW holsters and shoulder holsters. Adam helped me pick the perfect holster, fit my gun into it, and then gave me a discount because I bought the gun there over five months ago. Adam said "take it home, use it for a week, and if you don't like it, bring it back to try something else." SUPER HELPFUL! GREAT BUSINESS GO HERE FOR HOLSTERS. I'm a customer for life GO HERE. DON'T GET RIPPED OFF. Even good guys don't pass background checks. Be aware that if you do you not pass your background check in a timely manner & wish to terminate your purchase, this SHOP WILL CHARGE A 20% "RESTOCKING" fee. This bullsh*t fee is not posted or written anywhere. They even tried to say they were doing us a favor by not charging more. It was a used gun. It went right back on the shelf after we handled it. And we never even saw the gun lock they insisted on selling to us. They're not restocking anything & they don't tell you about this bogus charge ahead of time, so I think it's a rip off. From our $441.05 purchase (gun, shells, test, & gunlock), we ended up with 2 boxes of shells (no gun) and were refunded $340.) I recommend not buying shells or a gun lock or anything else until after your background check clears so they can't cheat you. But, I really recommend you make your purchase from a more ethical gun shop. You've been warned. read more

So, Iv delt with these country folk before, we share like oppinion on certain matters and they've helped me out more than most, went to some other gun shops and was refused business or ignored but this is the best Gun shop you will find. The other guy that whinned cus he didnt get his way well he doesnt deserve customer service. If they get somethn you want, they work with ya and theyll even buy your stuff for a good price most of the time. The way gunlaws are these days your lucky to even have a gun shop. I just completed my 8 hour training course for CCW permit. We started the day at the range at the El Dorado Rod and Gun Club and moved to the classroom at Big Horn Gun Shop. Both Bob and Adam were knowledgeable and helpful. Each of them had their areas of expertise (i.e. gun safety, gun laws, hands-on, etc) and presented their material in a manner where all levels could understand. Adam was especially helpful (and patient) at the range as I was a little rusty...and was using a new handgun. I would recommend these guys for initial CCW, CCW renewal, initial gun courses, etc. Oh, the coffee and donuts were a nice touch, as well. read more

Stopped in a while back for the first time to see if they had any nice used rim fire pistols for sale. A younger man started to show me a couple of pistols and I was asking him a question when a man walked in. He was obviously a regular patron as he was there to pick up his competition pistol that he had ordered. The young salesman didn't say excuse me or tell the gentleman I'll be with you in a minute while I finish up with this customer (me). He just walked away from me leaving me at the counter! He went straight over to another area to grab a box that had that guys gun in it. The guy opened the box and began pointing it like he was an expert marksman. He may have been. I just know that customer service seems to have left us these days. In an age where most things can be bought online I would like to think that I can patronize a local mom and pops business and get mom and pops service. Have not been back since. read more
