The food was tasty. This is in a historic building, so the atmosphere was interesting. Plenty of tables as well as a large outside area where they had live music. Super friendly staff.

The restaurant appears to be an old house converted into a dining space. It's actually a pretty cool setup. The bar has a nostalgic look and feel, with really tall sliding doors right in front of it. Service was quite fast, considering they had a big event in their outdoor area that day. Now, about the food... it was good, but I felt the brisket portion was small. I ordered the two-meat combo with brisket and sausage. The sausage was excellent, and the portion was what I expected. I only received two slices of brisket, which were very tender and flavorful--just wish I had more. The cornbread was on the sweeter side but complemented the meal well. The mac and cheese was okay but bland; salt and pepper made a huge difference. I did have an issue with the BBQ sauces. In my opinion, they are served in the wrong bottles. They use inverted squeeze bottles, which require a good amount of pressure to get the sauce out. This works fine for the thicker, sweet BBQ sauce but is terrible for the Carolina-style vinegar-based sauce. Yep, all over the front of my shirt, lol. Aside from that small issue, it was a good experience.

Billikens is a must visit if you are in the Fredericksburg area! It is a fantastic BBQ spot with a huge smoker in the back so you know it's fresh! It has a bunch of indoor seating but its outdoor area is the shining star with so many seats and it being so spacious. They have a bunch of happy hour choices throughout the week to choose from as well! We ordered the brisket nachos to start and they were huge and delicious. They had so much brisket piled on top of them so you could have some in every bite. For main course I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with fries. It came with fresh pickles and pickled onions to top it off with as well. The food was really good and so was the atmosphere. I love a nice outdoor seating area and being able to see the smoker cooking nearby only made that feeling even better.

We heard they had a new brisket Mac n' cheese on the menu and had to go try it for ourselves. It tasted like heaven in my mouth. IT WAS DELICIOUS!! How could you go wrong with Gouda and pimento? I would eat it again and again. The service was awesome and the food came out quick. It was quiet inside the restaurant but we could tell that everyone at the outside bar were having a great time celebrating the 4th with live music!

Some of the best barbecue I have had in Virginia! I had the lunch special for the nachos with pulled pork on top. I also got the loaded cornbread skillet. The service was great even though they only had one waitress, she still did an amazing job checking on us regularly.

Visited Billiken's for an event where the outdoor space was reserved for our use. I had such a great time!! The bartenders were very friendly and one of them consistently remembered what I was drinking. Small things like that mean a lot! :) The outdoor space is very nice and the ambiance makes for a great evening. I'm sure it can get hot during the summer but I don't know how they use it for regular service. The food was unbelievable, pork was tender, Cole slaw was refreshing, and macaroni was creamy!! I can't wait to come back for more!

Nolan moved like a quiet storm-- strong, agile, humble... the kind of man who turns loaded fries into a whole revelation. Every bite felt like he understood the assignment before I even spoke it. Kudos to the king in the kitchen. Jory floated in like an angel on shift, cranberry juice in hand, serving grace the way sunlight serves the morning-- soft, simple, divine. And Jamie... the mind behind the calm. A project manager with the wisdom to steady both hearts and houses. You can tell leadership rests easy on her shoulders. Today? 10 out of 10 stars, no hesitation. So good I might have to make them a song-- because energy like this deserves a soundtrack.

OMG, where has this place been all my life! I had no idea this restaurant existed and walked past it many many times. First the ambiance and rich colonial history of the former Dentist home is just nice. Our servers were good. Provided some background on the restaurant/home and spot on with food recommendations. The food was very good. I had, well attempted to eat a full rack of ribs. Most places I've been to this would have been possible but here was so much meat on those bones, lol. The ribs were fantastic w complimentary sauces which I opted for the spicy-sweet and sweet bbq. Baked Beans were the best I've best I've ever had at a restaurant. Tasted like something you get at a good summer picnic. Just all kinds of deliciousness.

Went for the first time tonight. Server, who was also the hostess, was VERY friendly and VERY competent. The building is very interesting, as it was built as a house in 1776. Food was very good and prices were decent. We will be going back.

How much can I love a place? The smell of barbecue literally led us here on a Sunday afternoon around lunchtime. We sat in the back, outside, and listened to Ryan French (check him out on IG) on stage. Loved everything we got but especially the smoked brisket platter and potato salad. Fell in love with the cool old black lab sitting next to us. It's that kind of place.

This place was awesome! I'm not sure why we waited so long to come here but I'm so glad we finally decided to indulge. The burnt ends were phenomenal, the cornbread too! I ordered a concoction and it did not disappoint. They have decent portions so ensure you come with an appetite or plan to take some home. The parking can be a bit hectic, so plan to show up with enough time to look around. The restaurant is in a home so the ambiance is very welcoming! Servers were good too!

You can smell the smoke of this historic house/now smokehouse from the street. We got half rack, burnt ends, and a pound of brisket. Delicious. I would have appreciated a hot Vinegar sauce option but the Carolina Hot was tasty. Great friendly service.

What could be a better way to finish a distillery tour than to eat at a smokehouse? This restaurant reminds me of another old school spot I used to frequent in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Same old house type feel, great menu here. Our nice stop here was very quaint and pleasant. I ordered myself a Chimney Stack with Mac and cheese, so delicious and almost too much. Lucky for me, I shared with my two 200 plus pound companions. Since I was the designated driver, I did not partake in any libations. Thankfully our waitress was good enough to keep my soda refilled. But the rest of the party did, and the drinks looked and smelled good. So maybe next time.

He was delightful to talk to about the menu and honestly gave such a great vibe to the eatery. Before today is say we haven't been all that impressed with BBQ options on the east coast. There's one other place that was alright but Wild Waylon's BBQ knocks it out of the park. And if I'm being frank, Wild Waylon's is better than some BBQ joints I've been to in Texas. We will have to make the trek out here again, and this time with friends, to enjoy one of the best restaurants in VA. What we got: Jalapeno pepper poppers - 5* what a delicious side! Until today is yet to meet a restaurant that made a better jalapeno popper than myself. Wild Waylon's has officially won the unofficial competition. I will be putting rubs on my bacon henceforth and hopefully will be able to reclaim my honor. Do yourself a solid and order this side. Beef rib - 5* my partner missed my face when I took my first bite and that's probably a good thing. This was the highlight of the meats Wild Waylon has to offer. If I remember correctly it's smoked for 24 hrs and boy does it shine! The meat literally fell off the bone when I picked it up for my first bite but that didn't stop me from diving in with my fingers. This one does not need any sauces, it's flavour is strong and good. Baby back ribs - 3.5* honestly, probably closer to 4 but when compared to the beef rib no other rib can compare! What I loved about this one was the crispy-ness on the underside of the rib and dipping this one in the various homemade sauces that are available in store. Pork Belly - 3.5* we tried a slice but saved the rest for leftovers. It was good and even better dipped in a sauce. I really liked the texture and am looking forward to eating the leftovers. Much like the ribs I think I am having a hard time judging this one without comparing it to the beef rib. Brisket - 3.5* we tried a slice but saved the rest for leftovers. It was decent and kind of melted in the mouth. There's probably a little room for improvement with this particular dish but it's also a good one to let the sauces shine. Baked beans - 5* woooah, these are fantastic beans! Coleslaw - 3* decent coleslaw. It wasn't anything amazing but we appreciated having it as a palate cleanser between meats and spicy sauces. Pickled jalapenos and onions - 3.5* this is spicy and delicious!

The guy running things in the trailer was very friendly, clearly the owner. They offer all the typical BBQ joint menu items (Brisket, Pulled pork, Pulled chicken., Ribs, etc) and all the typical sides too (beans, slaw, green beans, corn bread, etc). I also liked that they have about 6 BBQ sauces, all made by them and all different styles/flavors. We got a pulled chicken sandwich and a brisket sandwich. For sides, we opted for their cole slaw and baked beans. I also got one of each of their sauces to try. Prices seemed fair, at $28 for this order (what I said we got). Getting home and cracking into our order - The slaw was 'ok' but seemed to be lacking depth of flavor (celery seed and pepper) and had a slightly off taste. Plus, the container was filled about half way. The beans were really good! Nice flavor, spice, and sweetness to them. Next was to try the sandwiches... My wife got the pulled chicken sandwich and as soon as she unwrapped it, she thought it was pork, as it looked chopped and was in extremely small pieces. She tried to eat it and wanted to enjoy it, but the texture was like sawdust, as it was chopped so finely. For me, I got the brisket and when I opened it, I felt like the beef was a little overdone, but the flavor was decent. The texture was tender, but slightly dry - it definitely needed sauce. As for those sauces - My favs were the mustard and the Texas - Both were flavorful and really nice. Overall - Not bad, but if I went back, I would totally try other items.

The place is exactly like all the others I've been to between VA - PA. I tried their turkey and jalapeño sausage for my two meats, and their cheesy potatoes and beans as sides. The turkey was moist and had a nice smokey flavor. It tasted great, in fact! It was so much better than the sausage I got. The sausage was cooked great, had a nice smoke, but was bland and tasted almost like a boring ham. Nothing beats hot peach cobbler, even if it's just "pretty good" cobbler. Overall: food was good. Nothing spectacular, but solid. Much better than my first trip. Service was excellent (it wasn't super busy). Ambiance: sort of a Texas locker room/military/fire department sort of thing going on. Pretty ok. Cons: food doesn't stay warm long on a metal tray inside a cold restaurant. And out of 7 choices for bbq sauce, not a single "really good" one. The Memphis sauce was probably the best of all 7. This place, unfortunately, fell short. When I arrived, the restaurant was empty but clean. The two staff members behind the counter were fine, but communication was awkward because a large plexiglass barrier from the COVID era is still in place. It makes it surprisingly hard to see or hear the person taking your order. I ordered a pulled pork plate with two sides and garlic bread. The pulled pork itself looked and tasted good -- not exceptional, but solid. The sides were the biggest disappointment. Options were limited, and when I asked for greens (a common barbecue side), they substituted green beans without mentioning they didn't actually offer greens. The baked beans tasted almost exactly like canned Heinz or Campbell's pork-and-beans with no noticeable seasoning or additions. The green beans weren't canned, but they still weren't very good, and I ended up not eating them. The garlic bread was also underwhelming -- heavy on garlic but tasting like it had been prepared hours earlier rather than freshly grilled. The sauce station was fine, though most barbecue places simply put sauce on the tables. The sauce itself was decent. Overall: The pulled pork was the only part of the meal that felt restaurant-quality. The sides and bread were surprisingly poor, and the overall experience just didn't feel cared for. I won't be returning.

But that lead me to looking up the Texas Roadhouse I recently went to and wow, the score does not match my experience here! We came with a big group since we were visiting family in Fredericksburg, and it is one of uncle's favorite restaurants, so our expectations were already pretty high. There was a fairly long wait, about 30 minutes I think? So we were pretty hungry at the end of it. Which was just as well, since there was a LOT of food to go around. The bread was so delicious we asked for seconds and even thirds. It came out really warm and the butter was delicous! And the blooming onion came out and was fried so crisply, each tendril of deliciously crusted onion came loose so easily, perfectly sized for dipping in the sauce, it was heavenly. I'm not sure what to say about the steak - really big, juicy, delicious, I'm pretty sure when it finally came out, I just stopped thinking. It was just a very raw experience, just me and food, the food and me, and we became one. Very quickly, the steak disappeared. There was more of it than I would eat in a normal meal, but that doesn't matter. It was sooo good. Generous portions, great food, and a great experience, would highly recommend.
