Food was average. Placed a large order for a business dinner. No complaints. However, I was very disappointed in the 4% charge for using my credit card. I ordered over a $100 in food. Maybe I didn't see the sign. I won't bother going back to see if there is one posted. I didn't notice the charge until later., I was hoping to use Bill's for future business. Bought crabs tonight and were shown large crabs. Once we came home with the 3 dozen crabs, they were small but paid for large.

I went into Bill's Seafood at 7:00 p.m. tonight to order a shrimp salad sandwich. I didn't realize that they closed at 7:00 p.m. because the door was open. The young lady in the kitchen came out of the kitchen. If looks could kill!!! She was obviously angry that I was there, but she took my order. If she had told me they were closed, I would have left. After handling the money, she proceeded to go to the back and, without washing her hands or putting on gloves, she proceeded to grab a roll out of the bag and made my sandwich. I don't think they teach their staff proper food handling. I've seen this happen before. Never again! read more

So Disappointed! We've been going there for years as it is very close to where we live (and we believe in spending money with our neighbors) and they allow you to reserve by phone - but never really a huge fan - very expensive and they sell re-heated crabs without telling you. But this week took the cake - the crabs they sold were horrible - old, dried out, nothing to them and flavorless - these must have been cooked and sitting around for days and then just re-heated for us considering how bad they were - and when I wrote dried out I meant it - DRIED OUT. Horrible. If they are going to charge more for their crabs then at least they could do is sell you good crabs. This is my neighborhood crab place and I even voted for him but they didn't do us right. I am looking for someplace better if anyone has any suggestions. read more

We ordered crabs from Bill's 3 weeks ago and they were delicious. I thought we would try again and make the drive to get them. We paid $50 a dz for large crabs. I didn't mind paying that price since they are so good. Well, we were so disappointed this time. The crabs were barely large and they seemed like they were not fresh. I would rate 0 stars if possible! Every time I have tried their crabs (3 times) thinking I would enjoy the experience more but did not. All crabs had 0 or 1 claw. Then found out they sell crab claw platters. It is very disappointing to pay for crabs and not get what you pay. Bought medium size crabs for $38 a dozen last night. Terrible! They get one star for well seasoned but there were 10 paper shells in the dozen. They should have been sorted and tossed into the $1 crab bin. If you buy them, check them before you leave Bill's. I still can't believe they would sell such light crabs and label them mediums. I picked up some crab dip right before the Ravens Division playoffs against the Broncos and I also purchased a big loaf of bread from Giant. Hollowed out the bread anand toasted it to make a bread bowl, then cooked the crab dip and added it to the bowl. Smelt like fish and tasted like garbage. The crab was non existent and what crab was there was mush. Lived in Maryland my entire life and crave seafood like a crack head craves crack, so I know what I'm talking about. Their steamed crabs are pretty good but stay away from the crab dip because it tasted like "jacks catch" (crab imported in a tin can from china) garbage. read more

June 18, 2012 We order $ 95.00 extra large crabs ahead of time for our Father's Day party. We picked the crabs up at 1:30pm. We came home and started to ,supposedly,enjoy the crabs. The crabs were junk. All paper shells, very mushy meat and water coming out of the crabs, alot. We tried to call at 3pm to complain and the phone kept ringing and ringing, not even an answering machine to leave a message on. We waited until this morning and called to speak to Bill, the owner about our experience, but was told he could not be reached until Thursday, 06-21-2012. Very disapponted after paying $35 for jumbo lump crabmeat & finding 3 sets of gills in the crabmeat which was from the WT.Ruark & Co., Fishing Creek, MD 21634. After picking out the "devil" as commonly called, the crab cakes were delicious but one should never have to pick out the gills in a $35 can of jumbo lump crabmeat. Never again. Ordered 4 dozen xlarge crabs for Father's Day. If they were xlarge, I hate to see what the small crabs looked like. Then to top it off, they were overcooked, several burnt, and the shells had holes in them that looked like they had been speared. Very disappointed. read more

I have had Bill's crabs more than a dozen times and I would say they were fair at best. There have been multiple times where they tasted re-steamed. Definitely hit or miss. When they are good, they are heavy and full of flavor. When they aren't, its a waste of a lot of money...Search around for a better more consistant place. read more

Got some crabs from them on Friday night. That should of been the first sign since all the good places were sold out. The crabs were bad. No flavor and barley and seasoning. A few smelled so bad we couldn't eat them. Then to add insult to injury, use plastic to pay and they charge you 3% more. Appears they want to sway you toward cash so he can hide the sales. Sorry Bill, but if I have to pay taxes, you are going to have to pay taxes and not pocket all those cash sales. They're one of those places that close early than the posted time. Showed up at 7:30 and they were already closed even though the posted closing time is 8pm. Bad for business and bad for the people who call multiple times and get a voicemail and then decide to drive to the location just to find it closed with someone sweeping the floor. I have to give Bill 2 stars this time. Ordered crab soup and crabs. The soup had little to no crab meat in it, and was more like just a vegetable soup, although a generous portion. $8.00 seems high for veg. soup. Crabs were tasty, but not seasoned enough. read more

We have been going to this place all summer since it is right down the road. There crab cakes are some of the best I ever had and I also enjoy there homemade potato salad! With that being said, the last few times we have gotten crabs, they have definitely been on the very SMALL side of XL. Considering the price this should not be the case. Your delicious Bill's! This place was just awful. Rude employees and even ruder owner(Mr. Bill). I ordered a bushel of medium large crabs, most were very small in size and extremely light. This was my first and last time at this establishment. If you are looking for mediocre light weight crabs...this is your place. Most reputable crab places weight crabs prior to steaming for quality control and they did not do that! The employee working there said and I quote ""Yea, the crabs are really light...but yesterday they were fine" Be sure not to confuse this place for the REAL Mr. Bill's in Essex!! I got a half dozen of the large last night. They were light and small. They also had a funny smell like ammonia. I have read about bad crabs smelling that way, but have never experienced it. Only two were decent. The rest had the mushy crabmeat, and the terrible smell. I ended up trying one of the bad crabs not knowing, and im still feeling sick the next morning. I work around the corner and live in owings mills, that's why I didn't go back to return them. Terrible! read more

Worst crabs I ever had got a dozen about 3 were edible,everyone I have talked to have had the same problem there ,paper shell light junk don't waste your money .they must be steaming there crabs dead or something because they are terrible every time. read more

I've been a customer for 25 years and have never been let down. Very good crabs and for the cheapest prices I could find. Love the $1 crab specials. The codfish cakes are AMAZING, wish I could find them in all the grocery stores around. Service is excellent the girls are very nice. On 06/18/2014 I went to bills to order two dozen medium crabs, $32 a dozen two dozen for $60 dollars plus $1.80 for some unknown reason. I got two dozens crabs. When I got home it only took me 20 minutes to go through six crabs. These crabs were so bad I threw 18 of them away. I found no meat in the crabs, very light to pick up and they looked like spider crabs. They had a bad smell and they weren't even seasoned. When I got to work the next day I told a couple of my buddies about my bad experience and they replied " you should have asked us about this place or gone on line to read the reviews. My family and I have never been so disappointed when buying crabs before. Absolute highway robbery.... paid for 2 dozen medium crabs and what we received were the barely legal acceptable size (should have been priced as x-small- small). They said that was "their medium standard" and we were charged an asinine price for them. You better believe we returned those crabs and will be taking our business anywhere else for now on. read more
