After having issues with the bikes we rented from the condo complex in which we were staying, we reached out to Billy's and they were able to accommodate our 4 person family with virtually zero notice. My wife and I wanted to try out the e-bikes(which they had a great selection of) and my 2 boys got regular bikes. They took the time to fit us to the bikes and make sure we got exactly what we wanted. All of the bikes were in excellent condition and at a very reasonable price, especially for on island. I thought the boys bikes were really unique in that they were belt driven instead of a chain. Steve from Billy's assuredly us we would be taken care of quickly if any issues were to arise, which they did not with Billy's bikes. I highly recommend Billy's bikes, especially after being left stranded by our condo's bikes and being left to fend for ourselves. read more

Pre-rented before arriving so the process to pick up the bikes was very smooth. I picked the 7 speed cruisers for my bf & I. They have an incredible amount of bikes, but they sit out in the weather so they get rusty and beat up. I received my bike & raised the seat and took it for a quick spin. I noticed the chain was completely rusty but figured they were all like that and kept that bike. Discovered later that the gears didn't shift well from one to the next, so it made it more like a 4 speed bike. 5 & 6 didn't work, it would jump from 4 to 7, so pretty frustrating. And the small gears also skipped. Thought about taking it back and exchanging, but never seemed to be over that way again while biking. Anyways - the company was fine, prices were good, people seemed nice, just the bikes are a bit rough around the edges, we weren't setting any speed records and the bike weighed a ton! Pedaling it was a real workout between the weight and the rusty chain. The baskets are helpful and they give you a lock. It seems everyone on the island is riding either a Billy's bike or one from the other company - F****more's. We actually helped a couple that was stranded in JN Darling preserve out in the middle of nowhere - they were using the other company and their chain had come off and wedged in the derailleur, we got it unstuck for them. So we were glad we had used Billy's. I'd suggest inspecting the bike better then we did and make sure all the gears work before you get to far away. read more

We, a group of 8, rented two surrey bikes from Billy's in the 2020 MLK Jr. Day weekend. It was a great experience. We did not pre-reserve and yet faced no problem in getting the bikes. Will got the bikes ready for us and showed us how to maneuver them. We went to the lighthouse beach and back. The bikes worked perfectly and we had a great time. The rates were very reasonable too. Overall, we are very happy with Billy's and will rent from them again when we visit there in future. read more

I went today to get a quote for renting 3 bikes for a month. You would think out of the hundreds of bikes on their property they would give me a much better discount. Was going to cost me 600ish. Went to the other place down the street and it was half the costs and they fixed my tire on the other bike I owned, gave the kids popsicles and were sooooo much more friendly. The owners actually work this place not a bunch of kids that stand around on their cell phones and look at you like your stupid when you walk up. These guys are great! We took our vacation on the island this year. The bikes available to me we're cruisers. Not bad but I'm kind of spoiled with with road bike. Billy's rents road bikes both carbon and flatbar. Since the carbon is a tad too aggressive I went with the flat bar. The bike enabled me to keep up my riding schedule. The staff there is very nice and knowledgeable. The rental bike was very well maintained and did a great job. Without question I would recommend Billy's for rental, sales, or service. read more

NOT SAFE!!! POORLY TRAINED STAFF. I rented bikes today with my husband and two young kids and the experience was nothing short of appalling. As out town tourists, we are not professional bike riders (as most renters in Sanibel are not). We had a horrible biking accident and I did a complete flip when I hit the back breaks. I was bleeding from every area of my body and luckily, kind bystanders stopped to help and give me bandaids. Upon return of the bikes, the young man who was working there showed absolutely no remorse. In fact, when he was told there might be something wrong with the bike, he laughed and said "anyone with common sense would know not to use the back breaks." He actually laughed as I was bleeding. Pretty unbelievable and also sad that anyone would want to employ such a cold and emotionless human being. How can you possibly not explain to your customers that you should not be using one of the two breaks?!?! No one explained a single thing to us! Downright the worst customer service I've ever experienced in the entire state of Florida. Safety is certainly not a concern for them. In an effort to be safe, please be sure to ask how to operate the bikes when renting from this business. It's entirely unsafe to offer bike rentals without informing paying customers how to operate them in order prevent injury. I hope the owner will consider training his staff more thoroughly. read more

They went above and beyond! Great attitudes, very helpful, and handled an emergency well. There were four of us out for a bike ride on a hot day. We stopped for a water break and one of our party passed out. We had to call an ambulance (our friend is fine after some IV fluids thankfully). We called the bike shop to explain our situation and they arrived to pick up our bikes before the ambulance even left. They even brought the rest of us ice cold water. read more

Coasted around Sanibel thanks to Billy's! They are busy as can be, but have a well oiled process to get bikes. You'll be greeted by a friendly specialist to get you set up with bikes, and then go to the window to pay before taking your bikes out. It's a two-hour minimum which was perfect for us to get lunch, ride to the beach, and then ride about 6 miles!!! We did 8 miles in total which meant we got ice cream next! We had the bikes for 2.5 hours, but we're only charged for 2! Bikes are all equip with baskets and bells too! Also, if you are doing any local rides (like the captiva tri), you can always rent race bikes from Billy's too! Great for a day on an island or a triathlon!! read more

Segway tour was an all time favorite thing to do in Sanibel! Six ladies on tour with Johnny who knew just how to handle us. He gave us a lesson before we headed out on the bike trail. It was amazing and what a great way to see some really nice spots on the island. Johnny took many photos of us so we can cherish those memories. We've rented here for the last three years, after using Finnimore's for a decade previous. Up to now we've always had a good experience. Unfortunately this year the chap working was so grouchy, almost combatively ornery, we all emerged wondering what we could have possibly done to make him dislike us. All we did was ask to rent 4 bikes for a week, which might have been the problem. Once outside, we had one issue with a bike but didn't have the energy to venture back in. We'll return tomorrow to deal with it in the hope another employee will be there. Not giving up on Billy's, but this makes us reconsider our old rental place, Finnimore's. read more

Great price on renting bikes for a day. was extremely disappointed with the quality and maintenance on the bikes though. Most of the tires were flat and our rear bearing went completely out and our rear tire rubbed breaks and nearly came off multiple times. Extremely unsafe. Good prices and easy drop off/pick up. My only complaint is this year, attention to detail wasn't on point. My tire was a little flat and my seat wasn't adjusted for me when I picked up. I tried to reserve online for the 5% discount, but the site wasn't working for some reason. And they wouldn't give me the discount even though there were website issues. :( But not a huge deal and everyone is always friendly. When we went to inquire if we could upgrade to a bike with gears and if they had air to fill up one of the tires in the bike which wad low, the person was extremely rude, told us it was impossible and clearly did not even want to talk to us even though there was no one else waiting to ask about bikes. As soon as we walked into Billy's we knew we came to the right place. They were so friendly! They advised us on what bikes would be just right for us and they let us try a few before picking them out. They fitted us to the bikes and made sure we were comfortable. They gave us a map and pointed out some popular destinations and told us how long we could expect the bike ride to be. We took a Segway tour w/John last week. It was "off season", so it was just my Hubs and I. This was our 5th Segway tour overall, but first in Sanibel. John was very good about communicating safety and making sure we felt comfortable. The tour was fun and he has lots of interesting information to share about the Island. He also has some really bad jokes that as much as you don't want to laugh, make you laugh anyways. John is awesome about stopping for you to take photos and he took lots of us, too.
