Accessible only to vehicles (no bicycles or pedestrians allowed on the bridge) driving over the Köhlbrandbrücke gives you an amazing view of Hamburg's harbor and a glimpse of the sheer size of the harbor district. The view from the Köhlbrandbrücke by day is a must-see for both tourists and residents interested in seeing more of Europe's 2nd largest harbor.

You can take the ferry from Landungsbrucken all the way down to the beach and have a hot Gluhwein in the freezing cold. This is also the place to get off the train if you're visiting the Elbe Tunnel too. It's a particularly nice U-bahn station as the train makes it way out of the underground and into brilliant sunshine (well, or more likely rain!) and continues on the elevated section into town. Anyway - if you're visiting Hamburg for the first time - this is a must-see. If you live here you'll keep on coming back.

Its a big contrast to the inner city which can be a bit overwhelming. The terasses let you enjoy the view and gives you space to breath and enjoy the designed surroundings.
