This Binny's have the most knowledgeable people working there and all of them are friendly. I like to try different beers and they have a huge selection. I didn't even know that an old school beer was still being made. As I was looking over everything, someone came over and asked did I need help. I told them I was looking for something that wasn't so hoppy and they helped me pick out a smooth drink. This location also has a cigar humidor and a special wine area. I do shopping here to deliver to customers. The staff on the floor is very helpful and friendly, and there are tons of products with many sales. Taking one star off because the first impression a customer receives is the moment they walk in, and in this case is the managers desk. Not once has anyone behind that desk said hello or welcome, which is a big no for any establishment. 49/50 times, they lift their heads up and back down to their task. The women cashiers are almost the same. No greeting, no smiles, just demand an ID or loyalty number. And def no have a nice day. The Binny's on dempster, though smaller and less selection always greets you when you walk in. It really makes a huge difference when you're greeted verses not and it's sad every time I come in, this is what's on my mind before entering. read more

My friend Gerry said this location used to be a Kohl's. I don't remember that, but in the 18 years I've lived in the neighborhood I recall it being a grocery store then a CVS. It's a very convenient location with a large selection of just about everything and knowledgeable salespeople to help if you have questions or are looking for something in particular. This used to be a Kohl's and now it's my favorite Binny's. My second favorite has to be the one on Dempster (Skokie) and third would be in Niles (on Milwaukee). Binny's appears to have their Corporate office here too, so this location probably gets a lot of TLC. This building has the highest ceilings and it's so huge, you'll be hard pressed not to find what you're looking for. The sale items are easily identified and there's a sale cart too. I particularly like their craft beer selection, their ciders and most of all - their Scotch aisle, the island of Islay is well represented here. They have San Miguel - dark (which is chocolatey). FYI, Whiskey and Scotch are cheaper here at Binny's, than in Ireland or Scotland - I've price matched and we simply avoid all of the taxes they're subjected to, over there. Speaking of which, Binny's will also price match a competitor - just bring in the hard copy, advertisement. The French and Israeli wine selections are also notable. read more

This is definitely my favorite Binny's of all. The store is spacious and clean. The craft beer selection is amazing, the bourbon selection is second to none, the discount rack is often full of gems. The parking lot is also very spacious and easy to get in and out of. The restrooms are spotless. I can't say enough about this place. I love it. Sad really. I've been doing a bit of an experiment the last few months. Wednesday is delivery day for them. So at noon I go straight to the Bourbon aisle. I usually wait there as I look over some bottles. Eventually an employee will come over and ask the usual question. "What are you looking for?" I explain that I understand that today is new shipment day and did any Blantons come in? "Sorry, no" is the usual. Today the employee actually said "let me go check". Ok. Great. He is going to go check. He comes back and says "sorry sir, none came in." As he points to some other, really any other bottle on the shelf, "maybe give this one a try". I've actually tried many of the bottles on the shelf, I came in because it's Wednesday and Blantons is not actually put out on the shelf. So, instead of saying that I just thank him. Later, around 4:45 that same day, I go back in and just ask a different person. To my disbelief the answer comes back " yea, we had some earlier but is all gone. Got Six bottles but they go fast." Well, I bet they go fast. Allocated to employees or "special" customers. Since I only spend a few hundred dollars there monthly, they probably won't miss my business. I can easily get the off the shelf stuff pretty much anywhere anyways. Online works too these days. read more

Chuck and Freddie are always willing to offer great advice on what to try on the shelves and actually take the time to see who shops here and deserves those rare bottles which I'm sure is a huge pain. Incredible selection & extremely knowledgeable staff. More often than not, they stock the exact bottle & year I'm looking for. With a price point and value to fit every wallet size. Generally a better $value than Costco. And the high end bottles you'll be hard pressed to find anywhere else. The floor staff assisting customers are among the best of any retailer in the area. Customer service is obviously a priority here. I've gone in wanting a few bottles for a garden party and left with 3 cases. Ports. Single malt Scotch. Brandy. Whiskey. Rums. Vodkas. I tell the Dr it's one drink a week. Maybe I'm wrong? They'll hit you with a sample taste of the good stuff at the front of the store. Thank God they don't sell ice cream too. I understand there's rules and regulations but binnys refused to sell me the bottle of wine let me tell you why.. I was in a rush and forgot my wallet in my car. I asked my brother to bring me my wallet. The woman at the register, didn't even say "hi did you find everything you were looking for?" NOPE. The most dry and arrogant "let me see your ID" I'm like crap I forgot it but my brother is bringing it. He brought it and they asked to see his. He didn't have it with him. And they pulled the sorry we can't sell it to you because we need proof he's your brother and we don't know if your buying alcohol for a minor and I don't want to loose my job. We were excited to check out Binny's and stocked up on supplies to make Moscow Mules. When we got home we noticed 2 cans out of our six pack of Gosling's Ginger Beer were bulging out the bottom. Called the store manager, and her reply was, "oh yeah, don't worry about it. Go ahead and drink it, it won't affect the taste!" When I told her about Botulism, her response was "what's that?" Worst experience at a Binny's was at this location. Employees follow you around the store staring at you making you feel rushed to get out. After waiting at the front for my friend to check out an employee pushed carts in almost hitting us without saying excuse me or sorry. No customer service at this store at all. Cashier had no words and no one asked if we needed help finding anything instead just watched us the whole time. After almost being hit by a stack of carts the old bald manager asked if we needed something as if we were in the way like that was okay to almost hit customers with carts and have no words to say "Opps I'm sorry." Prior to writing this review, I mistakenly thought Binny's was a national corporation, with locations/franchises across the country. I knew there was the local Joe Maddon commercial, but thought that just catered to the local media market. Now having frequented and enjoyed this new location, after minimal visits to other locations in the preceding years, this five star review is being penned without a bit of regret. They've been open for almost one full year now. I've been a loyal customer for the last 6 mo's. As is to be expected when approaching and parking in the lot, space is not an issue. It was formerly Lincolnwood Produce, a full-service grocery store, so when all you're selling is booze (save for humidor on north wall; I don't smoke cigars, but they had an event for cigars with a line one Saturday afternoon, FYI, if you're into them) in the same space, you shouldn't have a tough time making room for inventory. I don't buy or drink wine, except for specific occasions, so I cannot comment with any degree of experience, insight or knowledge on that. As for hard liquor, once every 2-3 mo's I might buy vodka or whiskey for some reason, and their price on Ketel One and FEW Bourbon respectively are lower than any competitor I'm aware of (I check prices often, despite rarely buying; so don't @ me on that!). Now for the good part - beer selection! The best variety (only irritant is changing options, not reduction, but that is a brewer choice, not distributor or retailer) with any degree of scale and uniform freshness of any retailer I have been to. The staff in the beer section is very well informed, enthusiastic, and relatable. I usually chat with one or two of them briefly as the location is very well staffed in the aisles (occasional wait for a register). Not only do they inform you of what is new, but will answer questions on timing of resupply and other issues to the extent they can. There is almost always 20% of their craft beer selection marked with Binny's card discounts of (typically) $2, and even without that, their listed price is no higher than anywhere else. Unequivocal 5 stars, in that there is almost literally nothing more you could ask for, that would not result in a lack of profitability and ultimate unavailability, which would be no benefit to either side. read more

This is my go to Binny's now. It is right on my way home so that helps but they also are big, clean, and have one of the better whiskey selection. (yes some Binny's specialize in certain liquors over others) I stop in twice a week to take a look at what they have on their shelves and it may sound like overkill but it really isn't. They move stock fast and switch stuff around so there is usually new items on the shelves or a sale on something new. Another bonus is Chuck. He has helped me with my pursuit of whiskeys and is very knowledgeable and friendly. read more

I tried to buy alcohol and they asked for my ID and I gave it to them but my girlfriend was standing next to me and she forgot her ID but I was buying the Alc and they refused to sell it. I live close to Binny's and don't go there very frequently, but when we do we usually get some beer, champagne, and at least 4 or 5 Thirty Packs of beer. We're old, but we still have fun! Love the new space and the dedicated spots for cigars, higher-end wine, and liquors. While it doesn't have the scale of the Lincoln Park location, it also doesn't have the crowds. I like this Binnys. It's new in the neighborhood and I am glad it's there because I don't feel like there are any good liquor stores around. The building itself is pretty attractive and better looking than the other BInnys that I have visited. Unlike other yelpers I appreciate the fact that is overflowing with a variety of wine as I am a big fan. (Plus you don't get points for using binnys card for beer, only for wine).They even have my favorite Montepulciano wine, the zaccannini which is usually rare to find. I also appreciate that they have a great deal of wines on sale on daily basis. There are always a ton of workers that are willing to help and suggest new things. They are good about honoring the online coupons even if you don't have them which is a plus on my book. I shall be back without fail the following weekend and the one after that. read more

I came In today at around 6pm to buy some liquor along with some friend. Me and a buddy of mine wanted to get a six pack, and another friend of mine wanted a pint of whiskey. As we were checking out, my friend who wanted the pint of whiskey stepped off to approach the whiskey cabinet. Our cashier, who's name was Judy, said that she needed to see our friends ID to purchase the six pack that we wanted. I calmly informed her that our friend is going to buy her own liquor and we were paying separate (mind you, we all are above the age of 25). Our cashier Judy immediately raised her voiced at me and screamed in front of many other customer "DO NOT TALK TO ME LIKE THAT!". I was taken aback and immediately apologize, and felt myself turning red and feeling very embarrassed in front of the line of customers behind me . I explained to her that I was very sorry if I offended her, but I did not mean that, and with all due respect I just wanted to buy my own liquor and our friend would buy her own. Judy checked our IDs (which as mentioned before proved we were above the legal age to purchase alcohol) and after charged my charged tossed the receipt onto the desk. I once again apologized if I had offended her. As a customer, I have apologized twice now for something that i feel was not my fault and have yet to hear an apology from her. I stepped off to the side and allowed my friend to purchase her alcohol as well. As I waited off to the side, the cashier across from Judy started jeering at me, exclaiming "she scared you huh? You scared huh?". I brushed the rude comments off, but deep down I felt such a humiliation that I haven't felt since high school many years ago. I implore whoever reads this to never shop at this Binnys again. It is evident that they do not care about their customers, and the way the store associate named Judy as well as her fellow cashiers acted towards me, I can fully see that there is not enough training Implemented to ensure cashiers do not make a customer feel like an ant when trying to purchase a six pack of cider and a pint of alcohol. I would have been fine if Judy explained what the issue was, but as a customer who apologized twice and also paid my own money, did not hear a single apology from the cashier, feel very hurt and downtrodden. read more

When this place first opened I was a little disappointed because the family owned small liquor shop I normally went to shut down and I was sure a big box store like this had a part in them losing business. I like supporting small business so I avoided this place for a bit a would drive further than I had to in order to avoid going here. I finally decided to get over my hang up and give this place a try as it is less than a five minute drive from my place and very convenient. Very glad I did!! Wish I wasn't so stubborn and went sooner. They have and excellent selection ( in my opinion being just an occasional social drinker) of, beer, wine, fun fruity drinks and all types of things alcohol related.
