But I'm probably not.) Anywho, I stopped here the other day after an exhausting afternoon of shopping. The guy behind the counter was very helpful and could even explain things a bit in English (which was great because I have no idea what an "Everything" bagel is called in French and I wasn't leaving the stand without one.) I ordered this bagel with only cream cheese on it because, again, that's the most common way to eat bagels in the states and that's what I wanted. I had to assure the poor dude three times that yes, I only wanted cream cheese on it and nothing else. Hilarious! I guess that's not something people do in France? The bagel was okay but it was too bready, just like at Kaffee Berlin. Maybe I should open a bagel shop because I'm absolutely sure everyone here would like bagels the way we make them back home - dense, chewy, and eggy. The bagel was warm and there was delicious cream cheese on it so all-in-all I'd say it was an okay experience. Oh, and did I mention it only cost 1,50€? Cheaper than a sandwich and just as filling! I might go there again one day if I'm really, really hungry.

Actually we were trying to go to another burger joint but sadly the odd French closing hours bit us in the ass once again. Luckily the burger here was pretty good. A bit more like meatloaf vs. a traditional American burger, but tasty nonetheless. But you know what was actually way tastier? The chicken sandwich! Don't sleep on that chicken sando.

Some sandwiches, tartes, steam table dishes are very good and some others are pretty anemic. My green salad with hard boiled eggs, crispy croutons, flavorful tomatoes was tasty. The sausage & potatoes quiche was okay, the milk bread smoked salmon sandwich was pathetic. Overall the food is just a notch better than the take out from a Monoprix supermarket. Sweets, pastries probably are sourced from elsewhere. You can do better at other local pasty shops. Perroudon, which is 100 yards down the street towards the Rhone river comes to mind. Prices by USA & UK standards are typically Lyon inexpensive. Compared to other local Lyon delicatessen prices, they are on the slightly higher level. If you're in a hurry and need food now this will do. If you're looking for a fabulous lunch take out, this ain't it.
