I have been coming to this center for awhile but took a break until this week I had come in Wednesday and my fingerstick had a low level so I had to come back, while I was there I was told I had to do a mini physical as well and read the book and watch a video. I did that but left and returned on Friday. I arrived at 9:15 to get things started, scanned in only to sit and wait (lobby was not busy) I was told at about 9:30 I had to rematch the video and read the book by the guy at the front desk. I told him i did it 2 days ago and needed to do the mini physical and finger stick he said I had to rematch the video and read the book again. I told him I wasn't told that the other day i was told I had to bring up a level and do the finger stick again and mini physical he said well you have to re-watch the video and read the book. So I did. I went and scanned in again just in case. I sat down for a few more minutes and now the lobby was full so I asked how long it would be. He said it will be awhile you just scanned in, I said I scanned in earlier he said that didnt count. It started after you watched the video and read the book. I told him he watched me sit there for over 15 minutes and didn't say a word he said well I didnt talk to my supervisor until you saw me leave the front so I didnt know what you had to do til then so no you can wait I said I dont have another 2 hours he said well you cant jump ahead so you can wait your turn. I said I have been waiting you didnt say anything til I had already been here he said well I didnt know like I said. He said so you can wait your turn. At that point I told him I wanted a supervisor and he told me no so I told him I wasn't waiting and left I called from my car and asked for a manager he said I dont have a manager. I said you just talked to one you told me. He said no I didn't I said you talked to someone, he said that was my supervisor so I said let me talk to them. He put me on hold and left me on hold. I called back he answered and didn't say a word and put me back on hold. I held 5 minutes ans called back and a randy answered I called him. After that I called 1-855-myplasma and I decided to go and schedule that night with a different location as I wont go back to the gus thomasson location I refuse to deal with the treatment I got today again and they deferred me! So I guess if you complain they defer you apparently because there is no medical reason to defer me. I was told Wednesday I would return Thursday or Friday! read more

I had recently taken a break from donating at this center (due to past issues as well). It's been a couple months or so since I have been. During that break I got new facial piercings, which is important because there's a certain amount of time you can't donate after getting the piercings. That I did know. What I didn't know was how much time SPECIFICALLY. That being said, my logic told me to simply call the center. Did that but no one picked up. I do understand that they have times when they're busy and there aren't always people up there to pick up the phone. They're a donor center, not customer service lol. However, I called them multiple different times on different days just to ask some simple question(s). These times that I mentioned, were in the span of March- May. I didn't try to call them just in one day multiple times, but many different times of the day, different days of the week, to avoid driving up there and not be able to donate. On those multiple days when I called, no one picked up. After a good amount of time had went by with no one being able to answer the question, I drove down there just to find out I can't donate (which obviously isn't surprising since I figured). It's not the part where I couldn't donate that had me frazzled and slightly irritated. It's the fact that I live a good distance from the center and would like to not have to drive up there every time I have a question I would like answered (not the first nor second time this has happened). Not to mention the fact that I tried to avoid this, but it isn't much help when I don't have an answer for myself. Calling the center a couple times is okay no problem. But calling them 5-7+ times in a row is starting to feel ridiculous to me. They do take great care of their donors and are very good at their jobs (from the POV of a donor), but it feels like this location is missing a factor to make it more recommended. I honestly wouldn't recommend it, if you're a good distance away from the center. If you're a five minute drive, then perfect for you because you could pop down and get that question answered. But a whole 20 minute drive because they can't answer the phone at the moment or rarely any, is so not worth it. read more

I just left this donation center for the third time in the last week but have only been able to donate once. My first visit, I filled out paperwork, answered questions, and did a urinalysis and was here for over an hour. I was then told I couldn't donate because my social security number was in their system under a different last name...from when I donated 5 years ago. I got married since then so my last name has changed. The person at the front desk told me I had to bring my marriage license for them to verify my identity, even though I had the required documents: license, social, and a paystub for proof of address. I was also told during this first visit that my paystub wouldn't suffice as proof of address even though the Grifols website clearly states it can be used. On my second visit, I brought all my documents, went through the screening and physical, and was able to donate. I was here about 2.5-3 hours. This time, I got here at 5:00 and checked in on the kiosk. After 30 minutes of waiting, I began to notice people who had checked in after me being called back for screenings before me. I asked someone at the desk if there was something else I needed to do besides check in on the kiosk since this was only my second visit and she said no, we're just looking for your chart. I sat back down and waited another 20 minutes before asking someone what was going on. My chart has been lost so I can't donate, and if they can't find it within 72 hours I'll have to go through the ENTIRE new donor process, paperwork, and physical again. This location needs to get their facts straight and obviously needs some type of organization system put in place so things like this don't happen. Management has been kind to me but the overall "sorry not sorry" attitude from others is unprofessional. read more

Today your establishment lost an opportunity to gain a regular donor. I have faithfully donated at one of your key competitors for several years, however, our geographical location changed and I was in the market for a closer option. I called this location on Gus Thomason the day prior to confirm when I could come in as a new donor. They advised at least two hours prior to closing time. Today they close at 4pm, I arrived before 2p. I was turned away. There was only one gentleman waiting in the lobby to donate, they were eerily slow. I pointed this out. Both managers refused to process me as a new donor because one was wanting to leave and the other, as it was explained to me, could not support dual roles as manager and medical. Gas is over $5 per gallon. I drove in through three cities. Obtained child care. They did not care. In the time they took explaining why they would not process me it could have been completed. I am sharing this review from your competitor who will continue my loyal business because your management team demonstrated just how little they appreciated my business, time and money. read more

This place is cool, fairly quick, but when they tell you to call they NEVER answer. I had something abnormal about my blood and they tell me to 'call' to check up on the status of it, but don't answer. This is the BEST way for someone not to come back. Answer your phones. read more

I have gone to the location at Gus Thomasson in Dallas for over two years. Overall the staff is friendly and courteous. The process is generally very quick and efficient. I appreciate the overall atmosphere and the cleanliness of the facility. The other patrons are respectful of one another, making the donation experience as pleasant as could be hope for. read more

Horrible time management, and efficiency. I have not had a decent experience here, yet. I've got a family member who needs plasma on a regular basis, so I donate for her. I'm on my third visit and have never been treated so poorly in my life. The other review is very accurate; if you are not a certain color, you are skipped, treated awful, and they make sure it hurts when they stick you. The last two times I have come, they have set up the machine wrong and what should take roughly 30 minutes, takes over an hour. My total visit today was over 3 hours. Today, the tech that stuck me, put the entire needle in my arm. I am not afraid of needles and I don't mind getting stuck, but that was awful. It was a burning pain from my arm throughout my entire body. Two different techs came by throughout my donation to fix the original stick because the machine was not running. Also, the machine I was hooked up to, said "plasma/ air interference". I brought it up to one of the techs and all she said was "uh... yeah, it's supposed to say that". A few minutes later it said "air detected early". I may not know much in the medical field but, I do know air in the veins can be deadly. Everyone around me was hooked up after me and was able to leave before me because my machine was so screwed up. It is also very obvious people who donate have lied during the questionnaire. Its pretty terrifying when you think about it. This isn't the first place I have donated at and I don't want to stop for my family, but this is ridiculous. Unless you have several hours to kill and like being disrespected, I highly suggest thinking twice before I coming here!!!! read more

The previous reviews are both correct. Expect to spend your day there. My first day there was a Sunday, and they closed at 5:00 p.m., so I went in at 2:30 p.m. to make sure there was time to process me since I was new. First, they insisted they couldn't take me because I had no acceptable "proof of address," but I did. Yes, my driver's license had my old address on it, but I brought my current W2, which had my current address, and 3 recent paycheck stubs with my address on them, all of which their website says is acceptable. I actually had to pull it up on my phone, and let a clerk show my phone to the intake clerk to get approved. Second, even though I had come in at 2:30 p.m., I still wasn't processed as a new donor by 6:00 p.m., so they sent me away saying they wouldn't be able to let me donate today because "we're closed now." They told me to come back the following day, and gave me a VIP Donor card, so that I would be automatically at the top of the list when I came back, to save me time. Third, I went back the following day and handed them my VIP Donor card. After waiting an hour, I went up to ask why I'm still waiting after an hour when I'm supposed to be a VIP Donor. The clerk said there was a "problem with my chart" and that my chart was "messed up" and they needed to "fix it real quick" before I could donate. The clerk asked me to just keep waiting. Finally, after waiting for an hour and a half, the clerk brought out my chart and asked me, "so this toe operation you said you had, exactly when was that?" I said, "uh, 30 years ago, 1985." She said, "Oh OK, so it was 1985?" I said yes, and the clerk said "Oh OK," and then asked me to go ahead and log on to the questionnaire machine. So, my chart was "messed up" and all it took to fix it was to ask me one question, and the question was about the two stitches I got in my toe 30 years ago? Fourth, they finally put me on the bed, but after a few minutes, the guy who stuck me came back to my arm and said it was taking too long, so he needed to "adjust" my needle. He pulled it out, pushed it in, pulled it out again, twisted it, and pushed it back in. It hurt. I said, "Sir! This is going to leave a bruise!" He said SEVERAL TIMES that "no it won't bruise." Guess what? It was red and purple the next day. Finally, the phlebotomist took the needle out and switched to my other arm. But after another hour on the bed, I was only half through with filling the bottle. I had come from another plasma center where I had been donating twice a week for years, so I was hardly a newbie to the experience, and never, ever, has my donation ever taken more than 40 minutes to complete. A different phlebotomist took over and told me she was cancelling my donation and returning me my red blood cells because "this is taking too long." She said, "don't worry, you'll still get paid." I said, "you're right, I will." Then she lectured me that my blood was "too thick" and to "make sure not to have thick blood when you donate." Yeah. I drank 2 Big Gulps right before I came in, and I've been donating for years and never once been told my blood was "too thick." After taking me off the machine, the phlebotomist told me she "had paperwork to do real quick" and that I'll "have a wait a while" for her to finish it before I could get my payment posted to my prepaid card. That would normally have been unacceptable, but I let it go because I needed to charge my cell phone anyway. (I had been there, supposedly as a VIP Donor, for 4 hours.) Lastly, the person who said that it's obvious that some people are lying on their questionnaires is absolutely correct -- I could smell the stench of marijuana on several people sitting in the waiting area. I'm a little surprised their security guard isn't smelling it and saying something. So,bottom line, this is not the plasma center for you if you don't have all day and "thin blood." read more

I came to this place with my friend and I will never come back again. This place should get negative 5 stars. We made it to this place at 2:30pm. It is now 7:10 and she still hasn't come out. I probably would be able to understand if the employees weren't just standing around out here talking and laughing, or if people that came in way after us didn't already leave over an hour ago. The timing of this place is ridiculous. They should be very ashamed of themselves. It doesn't even take this long at a hospital emergency room. 5 hours to give some funky ass plasma!!! There are also some very questionable characters in here that gave blood and received payment. They do drug test to make sure you're blood will be clean but there were people here that I know for a fact smoke that went in, gave blood and got paid. I would not recommend this place to anyone. STAY FAR FAR AWAY... Unless you like how this place operates. Smh. They should be reported to the health department and better business bureau. read more

Greetings everyone, Well I'm here now in Pittsburgh, PA after doing a 10 year sentence in the oil and gas industry. I want to say that I contributed as a donor for years at the Dallas location and what amazed me is that in spite of how good some of the employee's were at this location, it was evident they had a big deficit in employee discipline. You can tell how low it has gotten when a employee put a fraudulent report in my file and thought nothing of it. Of course it was swept according to them under the rug. But I can assure you it is far from over. Now being at the Pittsburgh location it seems like a whole different company. High standards, high employee morale and a true value for the company as well as the industry. Further, it now confirms what my doctors have stated at Baylor in Dallas TX. all of those screenings that was supposed to reveal that my proteins were low and all the other stuff now comes out to be all BULL!! yes for some reason now my screenings are now confirming what we knew all along that either the employees were incompetent or just vindictive or just maybe both. One thing I know for sure and that is I made a superb move by being at the this north east location. I pray that no one dies at the Dallas location for the mere fact of stupidity or negligence. So I will give a one star on this one and it is for me putting up with this place. read more
