Needless to…read moresay, I went into the O.R. with a measure of trepidation - even though I've had surgery elsewhere over the years on both ankles, one shoulder, one detached retina, both hips replaced and one knee replacement. In other words, I am not unfamiliar with what major surgery entails, especially post-op. But this surgery involved my CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM! Scary thought. Dr. Snavely was not just good, nor was he great, he was - and remains (had my six-week follow-up yesterday) - PHENOMENAL!! Six weeks out of surgery, I am walking without my pre-existing "waddle/penguin" gait, turning and stopping "on a dime" (okay, a bit of hyperbole; I am not nor was I ever Barry Sanders) with nary a trace of pain. I am ELATED about not just the result, but also the commitment to the patient that I have experienced. I am a 26 year old female and have been suffering from Fibromyalgia and other viral/autoimmune deficient related conditions for nearly 7 years. I was a full-time college student, marathon runner, tennis player and kick-boxer who suffered a tough bought of pneumonia and strep throat at the same time. That's what the myriad of doctors I've seen say caused my fibromyalgia, especially after repeated lab results and office visits showed me to be an otherwise "robustly healthy" individual. I felt like a big dollar sign to them as they handed me medicine and told me they couldn't do much to help. I remember one doctor saying "I can't be there to take your hand and get you out of bed everyday. You need to just deal with it." Before I started treatments at Orlando Hyperbarics, I had not experienced any significant improvement in my pain or energy level. This is the only thing that has made a real difference in my energy level, and I've literally tried everything that's out there. The technician was patient during my treatments and was genuinely interested in how I was feeling. After a few treatments, I was able to get to the therapeutic dive level successfully. In the following days as I continued treatment, I had noticeably more energy and found it easier to get through the day. I slept better and was actually productive during the day for a change! I am very glad my mom came across hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatment for Fibromyalgia, but especially at Orlando Hyperbarics. I have had multiple surgeries that do not heal or heal very slowly. Personal friend suggested to try hyperbaric treatment. I called and spoke with a knowledgeable man in Orlando, not knowing I was talking to Alan the owner of the center. He scheduled an appointment with the medical doctor. I had an evaluation by their doctor & started treatment that day. I was pleasantly surprisedly the treatment. I did a 90 minute treatment; the only thing I felt was my ears popping which I was told about before I went into the machine . The 90 minutes of lying down watching TV went by so fast. It was recommended that I do treatments every day. So every day from the Villages my husband drove me to Orlando to the treatment center. I was greeted by the owner, Alan who answered any question that I had. Somedays a staff member would greet me. Both her and Alan were helpful, both took my vital signs before every treatment. They were courteous ,knowledgable and always pleasant . The attendant who puts you in chamber is awesome very explanatory and gives you anything you want as far as blankets, pillows or fixing the tv to what ever you want and he is right in room during treatment so you can see him at all times. I had 10 treatments and I can honestly say with having many issues; one being fibromyalgia I feel I notice achy feeling is not as strong and my intake of Tylenol is much lower. One last comment, this is a treatment that has been around for ages and research says it puts 100% oxygen in your blood which helps many medical problems . For me, it was worth a try to have a chance to feel better. I would highly recommend researching and calling the center to see if this treatment is an option for you. Patty N.
