My main reason for board and train was my work schedule. I advised Don that Ohanze was not crate…read moretrained; he said it wouldn't be the first one. Within 20 minutes of Ohanze being at Trainer Don's house, he had tried shoving Ohanze into a crate and Ohanze refused. Ohanze was so traumatized that he tried jumping through the basement window, poop and urinated all over, expressed his anal glands. Ohanze supposedly bit him; all don had to show was a scratch on his arm. As a fellow Veteran I can not imagine being defeated by a dog within 20 minutes of being home.

We knew he was smart enough for training and really wanted a well behaved dog, especially since he is so much bigger than our two older dogs. We did the 2 week board and train with trainer Nicole in DL. Stacks loved his trainer, the 70 acres setting to play in, and it was clear that his "working" was really fun for him and he is so proud of himself when he gets it right. Nicole transformed him in 2 weeks, even took him shopping at Scheels the day before Christmas, so brave. He is sooooo much better behaved at home and fun to take around and about, and out for walks. He truly is "off leash" and I rarely need to even use the E-collar at all, just as an occasional reminder or when there are a lot of distractions (he is still young and learning after all). The training was such a worthy investment, and if you have a bigger dog, it is really important to have control over them for their safety and the comfort of others around you! Nicole is an excellent teacher and explains things about training and dog behavior so well, animals truly are her calling. We are having fun continuing to train him at home, and even our older little dogs are picking up the door manners. It is awesome to not have them underfoot as you exit the house. I can't recommend Nicole and Off Leash training enough.

Smart K9 is the best place for your furry friend. My dog Koda made the move from Texas to North…read moreDakota, he took it rough. He was scared and unsure of everything. He went from a very quiet home to now living with many (loud) humans and it was a hard transition. At the time we had also done many vet visits because we thought he had terrible allergies, he was biting his tail raw and licking his paws until they were infected. As his owner I knew I owed it to him to find a training center that he could grow and become confident in me as his owner and in himself. I did a lot of research and during the consultation meeting I asked a lot of questions because my dog is my family. After the first visit Emily said that she felt he was highly anxious and asked if we'd considered any anxiety medication to help him out. Turns out it wasn't allergies but anxiety! On top of that Koda did the four week board and train program making unbelievable progress. He's now able to ride in cars, go to the vet, and is welcoming to new people coming into our home. I could probably type all day about how amazing every staff member is at Smart K9 and how they are the best in town, but if you aren't convinced by now- go sign up for a consultation and see for yourself! I promise you will not regret it.

I enrolled my dog in day training at Smart K9. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing and…read moreextremely concerning. My dog got kennel cough in less than two weeks of being at this facility, I am fairly sure it was from there because he does not go anywhere expect my house and back yard because he is reactive and thats why we were starting training. The vet said he should not be around other dogs for 3-4 week and the owner encouraged me to bring him back while he would still would be contagious! I doubt they told the other owners that are currently enrolled that there dogs were exposed to kennel cough! Because of thier very concerning reaction to our dog getting sick and how they handled it I don't want to take him back there and they are unwilling to give any money back for services that were not preformed and are unwilling to talk! please read that contract very carefully if for any reason your dog got killed or lost or anything nothing is on them and you would still owe them thousands of dollars.
